    Wrong.

As anyone who has been following CO can tell you, the pre-order has been available for quite some time.

The gamestop entry for CO has been there since March. The comments are dated - have a look if you're even remotely interested in the truth. (link)

In fact, if you look at the Champions Online official forums, the pre-order seems to have been available at least since February. (link)

The facts may not suit you, or Cryptic's chances of flogging this game, but they are what they are.

Yes you are right about the Gamestop preorder, but they didn't show any bonuses or Cryptic Bucks until couple of weeks ago. Everybody know, to not believe what Gamestop says on their preorder, take a look www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx this is the preorder for Star Trek Online announce for January 26 2010, but the close beta hasn't even started yet.

Take the time to read couple of the comments in your link on the CO official forum, poeple are saying that Gamestop knows nothing and they made up the launch date and if they would have showed anything about the Cryptic Bucks, you would know in that thread and you can see at Gamestop, July 23 comments, fist mention of MT, around the same time they have been announce.

You are the kind of person who read something, report it somewhere else and add stuff to it and thinks it's the complete truth.

As I can see in you other post, how is the gameplay and you answer with someone else answer from a post in DCUO.

Now I am done with you, obviously, you have so kind of agenda here while you wait for DCUO (which is made by SOE, which is worst than you Bill and HG:L), at this point, you prove us that: Gamestop is not a trustworthy company and that you don't like Bill.

I still, will buy the lifetime subcription no matter what you say and you know why, because I can afford it and I like to know that at anytime I can log back in and check out the update/patch, something I can't do I CoX. If DCUO and Marvel turns out to be good when they come out and they offer a lifetime subcription, I will buy it too.

I don't understand the relevance of Cryptic Bucks not having been on Gamestop's pre-order info dating back back to February. Someone made a completely false claim that pre-orders only became available two weeks ago, so Cryptic wouldn't have pre-order numbers on which to base a decision to offer a lifetime subscription to potentially make up for lower than expected box sales.

But in truth pre-orders have been available nearly since the beginning of the year.

You also really don't know what you're talking about when it comes to microtransactions. But I do - I've been following this game.

Information about CO's microtransactions has been floating around for a while now. Eurogamer reported it in early May.

The gamestop info on Cryptic Bucks had also been up for at least three weeks before Cryptic deigned to comment on them.

Nice attempt to demonize me as some little Sony fanboi - but there is nothing untoward about either of those posts you refer to. In fact, if you take your rabid fanboi hat off for a moment, you'd see that I just defended CO, and not because I love it, but because my interest in this is in honesty.

Someone over in a DCUO thread just called it "complete crap". I understand why they've said it, but I don't think they're right.

They've just let 10000 players into the game who are curious about it, but not curious enough to spend any money on a pre-order. Comments like the one I referred to are going to pop up, NDA or no. I am, as you've most ably demonstrated, regarded as CO's equivalent of the anti-christ and yet I spoke up and I said I didn't think it was right to describe the game as "complete crap".

    How appalling of me....

FYI - and here's a nasty little secret - I actually liked Hellgate London. I never touched the online part of it, but I bought it and I played the offline version and enjoyed it. Bill Roper was seriously a name I didn't know until a month or so ago - but having read a lot of his interviews, I've quickly come to view him as an Olympian dissembler. And if he is in charge of game design, some of his decisions that have been reported in interviews seem.... unwise.

If you really read the DCUO post I made you'd know that I made a point of the fact that SOE were considering MTs for DCUO and that that was a turn off. DCUO wasn't even on my radar until CO announced its MTs. If anything I'd be more interested in the Marvel mmo - which is a looooooong way from release - though again, not if it has MTs.

Stargate Worlds and Champions Online were the two mmos I was hanging out for this year. SGW's development has halted due to financial troubles and CO - well we all know that story. I'll probably end up playing Aion until something more interesting comes along, or I might go check out AOC and WAR, just to see what they're like.

Truly, my interest here is in honesty. MMO developers have a bad history of lieing through their teeth to potential customers about their product. They want our money and they'll say whatever they can to get it from us. Cryptic appear to be doing the same and have even stooped to sending staff into other mmos to recruit beta players. That, the long silence on MTs, then dancing around the issue rather than giving straight answers - it's just not right.

    Which info?

CO's having MTs was made public via Eurogamer (link in previous post) back in May, and there's been very little info from Cryptic on them since then. And they went so far as to try to censor discussion on the topic on the official forums. Roper's supposedly "demystifying" interview was, as I've described it previously, him dancing the dance of a million mights, maybes and I-don't-knows.

Or if you're referring to them sending employees into other mmos, you can read about that here. Do I believe Roper's explanation? Not for a moment. I think the writer of this article sums it up nicely with:

If a line was crossed? That line was run over in a monster truck, set on fire, and stabbed multiple times.

Is my glass half empty? How many Cryptic Bucks to fill it?

Cos the funny thing is playing any other subscription mmo, I can get a full glass for my $15 a month. You'd have to be daft or desperate for Cryptic's particular brand of milk to pay the subscription and have your glass only half filled.

If it hasn't been noted then it should be:

Both of those are for the SUBSCRIPTION ONLY. It says  right on the purchase page down at the bottom in fairly innocuous letters that you have to ALSO buy the box or a digital download in order to play.

    So It's 200 + 50 (assuming standard retail pricing).

or 60+50, either way add on 50 dollars to both.

    Just clarifying.

Well I've tried Aion and it definitely is worth it. It's an unabashed EQ-clone, but a very good quality one. I'm glad I tried it.

Of course I can't comment on whether CO is even worth $15 a month because the NDA hasn't been lifted yet. In and of itself, some will interpet the NDA still being in place a few weeks before release as a sign of how much it's worth.

Is it possible to put a global ignore on our buddy green? These MTs trouble this man more than anything else in his life, which is easy to pick up on seeing how he goes from topic to topic bringing up nothing other than dirt on Bill Roper or complaining about MTs.

GREEN: No one cares about how much you hate this game due to MTs. So leave it be.

Also, to call Aion an EQ-Clone is just absurd. The game is nothing like EQ, and should not even be compared to such a great game.

Just do like I do, ignore green. He is just piss that he want so badly play CO, but can't stand the MT because he can't afford it. You see, he goes around sprending lies everywhere so it has to be that reason.

I tried Aion, I think it is a shitty game, one of the most boring game I ever play, but you don't see me going all ove the Aion forum saying our the game sucks. No, I don't, because I don't care if other like that game and want to play it.

Get a life you freaking Gamer.....no no, you don't understand, I'm a Gamer, I have many lives!!

MT's are lame and don't belong in serious games in this genre is all.  I know it pisses you guys off that this is a fact and Cryptic has put them in your precious CO but there is a reason...

It may be hard to hear. But Green is on the right track. What is frightening me though, as an MMO player, is the alarming rate of   (western) MMOs in development planning to use item malls, RMT,MT, etc...

More poor, sad and pathetic personal attacks.... You've repeatedly gotten your facts wrong throughout this thread - whether deliberately or as a result of ignorance - and that's not my fault. And my reference to Aion was nothing more than a refutation of yet another ridiculous argument that flies in the face of facts.

It's unfortunate that you can't deal with reality, but responses like this do nothing but undermine your already very shaky arguments.
