Of course there would except in the warped world of the slavering sycophantic failbois of DnF
I'm going to start off by saying that I'm not a huge fan of Darkfall. It has some cool ideas, but I've never tried it, and I don't feel any real need to do so.
Well you need to go to their website to buy the game, true, but a decrease in the traffic on their website doesn't mean that their subscriptions are decreasing. It just means that the rate at which people are subscribing is slowing down. You can't expect a website to maintain the same amount of traffic before and after release.

I'm not saying that I don't believe that the subscriptions are dropping. As a matter of fact, I have not opinion on the subject. I'm just saying that I think you have to take into account the natural waxing and waning of website activity when content is released. I expect the website activity to rise at least a little in the coming months. And more importantly, I don't think you should judge subscription numbers by hits on the official website. You can't judge the temperature by whether the Weatherman wears a silk or cotton shirt.
I'm not a darkfall player, nor do I support the game.
However. When WoW was first released in the US, I had to pay 70 Euroes to play it. This is because I had to import a US copy of the game and Irish customs tacked on like 20-30 euro in some kind of wierd import tax onto the box. A few months later the game was released in Europe. There were not only no character transfers, there wasn't even the possiblity of one down the line in the near or far future. I had to chose to either play on the US servers or buy a new copy. In the end, due to time zones, IRL friends and other factors, I bought a new copy to play on the EU servers. I'm not saying the Darkfall devs are golden, but on this issue, it seems unfair that they are being singled out for something that SEEMS to be an industry standard. You can complain that this should change, throughout the industry, but don't blame darkfall like it's some new kind of scam they just came up with.
But at no point in time did Blizzard ever say you would be allowed to transfer or taken care of...thats the glaring difference. If we had been told up front no transfers would be allowed, that would be a completely different thing. We were specifically told we would be granted allowances.
dont listen to the irc mods they dont know much. ps av plans changed with the transfer thing. but they never said it was going to be free

What most complain about isn't that transfers aren't free. They complain because AV said we would have 1 char per server meaning the NA players could simply make a new on the NA server when it launched. Thats the whole reason many paid for the EU copy, simply because we could try out the game and be able to make a new char on the NA servers come. If everyone knew up front they would be stuck with EU only server access and would have to buy the game again to play on NA servers most would have waited.
Aventurine stated plain as day 1 char per server, there are now 2 servers, I should have been able to create a char on the NA server with my current client and sub the day it launched. This was not the case because a very short time before the NA server launch AV changed this to 1 char per account. Which has made many feel that AV wanted as many as people as they could get to buy the EU copy first, once they thought most that were going to buy it have they announced the NA servers anc changed the 1 char per server to 1 char per account and told everyone in order to play on the NA server you must buy the NA client now.
I am not saying AV intentionally mislead people, but given the circumstance it sure seems that way to many of us. In any case there really isn't much that can be done about it now, had AV acted quickly and tried to make up for this in some way I am sure they could have limited the dmg a great deal. Instead, they have let it go and lost a great deal of subs over it, there reputation has been tarnished and most of the MMO community that keeps track of MMO's have already branded it tainted. Going to be hard for AV to ever really shake that branding off. Not saying that DFO can't turn around some day, but I am saying for now it pretty much has the subs it's going to have.

downtoearth knows what you said as well... not sure why he is being obtuse about it.
Even xpiher admitted that was a major gaffe that Aventurine made with their customers. There is no defense for what Aventurine did.
They sold the game to players promising 1 character per server.
When the second server came out, they changed it to 1 character per account.
In the unlikely event that there's anyone still questioning Javacs figures, more irrefutable evidence that Darkfalls subs are indeed definitely increasing rapidly:
The new website update is clear a sign of a game that's subs are increasing rapidly, you can see for yourself that not only is Darkfall the #1 choice of top players and clans, it also has over 10 thousand concurrent players per game world and it has the largest MMORPG battles ever - involving thousands.
And if that's not enough to convince you this certainly will, would a company losing subscribers spend weeks on holiday without updating its community or addressing any of the serious complaints from its customers?, Would a company that's losing subscribers charge the people left interested in their game twice or never advertise?, of course not, even more proof that Aventurine are sitting pretty fully confident in their game and its continued incredible commercial success, if anything they probably still want to reduce the amount of people that are playing so they can provide a better service.
Obviously Darkfall has over 20 thousand subscribers already, probably a lot more, the website facts prove that, and subscription rates obviously must be rapidly increasing or are exactly the number Aventurine currently want, according to all the credible and reputable information presented, if you can't accept this has been proven beyond reasonable doubt then you must be an unreasonable and ignorant troll hater.
AV is a dishonest Company and Quite frankly I hope there game fails . I was one of the biggest fan boys these theives had and they lied and Deceived I cant deal with people like that. Not only that but the game is boring and severely lacking in content.

HAHAHA...+1
Since the website states over 10000 concurrent players, couldn't we equate that to 30-50000 accounts per server?
No offense, but if you think darkfall has 10,000 concurrent players right now... even on weekends, then you are either in a drug enduced stupor, or are a koolaid drinker.
Is DF dying? I dont know if its that bad off yet, however, even the fanbois on the forums are stating that the EU versions population is drying up. I havent heard much about NA's population, but I know NA lost out on a little over a 1000 people for sure who were pissed over the AV debacle, and most likely closer to 3 - 5k.
I'd say AV is most likely averaging somewhere between 2 and 3k concurrent members on the weekends... per server, and I think that is being rather generous.

Hello,
I have been playing Darkfall on EU for a little more than a month and in that time my clan has added ~15 guys with relatively new subs. Also we are seeing no drop in the number of roaming PVP groups either - I am quite convinced that the only people saying EU pop is going down are not playing.
Well Im big enough of a man to admit I dont know for sure. I can see a trend via website access that seems to be rather telling, but as I havent subed in 2 months, I cant say either way for sure.
I had planned to be playing now, but due to how they have handled the NA launch (or I guess I should say misshandled) I'll just wait it out for Aion.

I play and have been playing on EU since Feb and the population has dropped significantly over the months. You joined during the slight "expansion" upswing, but the numbers pale in comparison to months prior. Come Oct. (transfers) things will only get worse unless AV gets their crap together.

Good to hear.
Hopefully the same can be said of quite a few other clans. The EU-1 server will need a pretty decent infusion of new players to counter those who will be transferring in a couple months.
How many will be transferring? Hard to say, but it'll probably be more than 1 or 2.

Yes I have read that and I know through my clan mates that there was a population decrease before the exapnsion. But now those same guys are saying that subs are now increasing, and we are seeing evidence of this in our recruitment and our PVP roams. I don't know much about how the game was before the expansion but I am loving it right now.
The subs are increasing a lot, and people are coming back from summer fun, and coming back after a few major flaws have been fixed. I give it 1 or 2 more patch and if A V's is smart then they should advertise heavily, but atm I see new people everday day.
Both on EU and I heard report on NA as well, someone is advertising something for darkfall.
it is great riding around again and finding people.
Graveyard had like 6 sieges in the passed 4 days, was truly epic times.
Some major flaws right now with the game are, Massive grind and/or lack of skill cap and/or magic overpowered.
But adding a skill cap of some sort even just for magic would make a lot of the grind and magic overpower go away.
Plus melee and archery specializations are in the next big patch( tasos word is expansion because they are a indie company so big patch = expansion to them) so this might help balance stuff out.
But I expect a nerf on magic and a buff to melee/archery and more limits on the jack of all trade crafts.
Plus I checked out MO and it is in alpha state, anyone who denies that are worse then DFo fanboys.
Based on what evidence? What's the current clan count and is it for EU or NA? A lot compared to what? If there were 7k (for example) total NA customers, how many more would constitute "a lot"?
The NA Server has only been open for 1 month as yesterday. How many of the first round of players (assuming they signed up on the first day) have renewed their membership beyond the initial "free" month? How many have joined NA since launch and are still in their first month honeymoon phase? I'd love to see a clan count gathered this week and again for every two weeks for the next month or so.

What I find amusing...People claim that sub numbers are up... yet, alexa shows site traffics down 40%

Now, now, pyrostasis... you know good and well that you are only allowed to use alexa and/or xfire data when it is positive.
When it is not positive... it means absolutely nothing.

No sir you have failed , Aventurine is an honest company, and quite frankly Tasos hopes you will go away now that he has your money.
The only people who have lied and deceived are the troll haters like you.
Game is not boring because I think its the best game ever and it has sandbox freedom politics adrenaline rush potential content.
You obviously have never even played Darkfall and are not hardcore enough but the games not for you anyway , we don't need/want you.

You're getting pretty good at that. Pretty soon, you'll be indistinguishable from the real thing :-p

HAHAHA...+1
Since the website states over 10000 concurrent players, couldn't we equate that to 30-50000 accounts per server?
I win!!! LOL@U
Time will tell either way.

It was a joke. Polarization is the residentt guru on sarcasm and parody.
