Well, it will be an mmofps, so that was an assumption of mine.
Seems like a lot of things of yours are assumptions. I mean jesus, you already put Eve Pre-Dust514
Can you at least have some faith in CCP? Even if Dust514 does affect the soveignty, that can be an amazing thing! Think of their becoming top clans or "mercenaries" who play Dust514, and hiring them and becoming affiliated with them and forming alliances would add to the meta gaming and politics already in Eve.
DUST514, will only be playable on consoles, will influence sovereignty and will require a subscription. So unless you are willing to get another account ( I normally already have 2 EVE accounts, I really don't want a third ) AND get a console, AND in my case, a new LCD TV / Monitor ( so I can attach the XBOX and the PC on the same LCD TV / Monitor ) you will not able to play this. I predict that, unless CCP integrates DUST514 in the current EVE Online connected by WIS, allowing EVE players to play DUST514 with their current subscription on the PC ( but with a new character ), the last bastion of mmorpg vision will crumble, and CCP will have pulled their very own NGE.
I'm good on this; I have a 17" laptop for EVE, an Xbox 360 with a 19" HDTV, already have my Xbox Live Subscription...
And we don't know enough about it all to even think we may NEED a new character. You may just travel from planet to planet, land your ship, and go FPS.
And I have a second 17" LCD TV, with component cable hookups, if I want to play EVE Online on my TV, and have Dust514 on.
I don't think it's going to be as much of a problem honestly. It will probably require an install on your Xbox 360 though...so expect to pay $60 for a new game. The idea sounds awesome to me; I'm willing to pay for it.
The way they could ruin this for me though; is by making it 'Just another FPS'. I want to see the CCP, or EVE Online impact on the game...hell, I would love to be able to look up and see ships in orbit, in real time with what's going on in EVE Online. Hell, I'd love some new modules for my ships for orbital bombardment on motherships...have your corporation/alliance on the ground, while you hold your mothership above, bombarding the planet to help them; or offering support vehicles.
They held a carrot on a stick, and I was prepared to wait years for the carrot, but they gave the carrot to console players.
They hold the carrot and you blame them for being a donkey?
They never promised atmospheric flight, ground combat or planetary interaction implemented in EVE. That is the donkey in you making you to think so and the same goes for your rage over Dust.
They did not promise ( my mistake ), they lead us to believe it might be possible one day, don't make me look up all the quotes from the Devs! They even have shown us a video with atmospheric flight with EVE ships, but you will probably also say that video does not exist.
I guess I was wrong and I am a donkey for following the carrot, but I won't be a donkey anymore I made my conclusions, so unless something changes during the next three months, I am done with it.
