What point are you trying to make exactly? Or are you just reiterating what I'm saying?
I just think it's weird that you think Bioware would suddenly become better at implementing combat when their last 2 games disappointed you in this aspect. I mean, of course it would have similar combat to the previous titles.. no?
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Don't you think that after two games they would improve it? Or at least take a more engaging approach? I mean it's called evolution man. Developers do it too. If you're agreeing with me, then why are you arguing with me? If you're just a fanboy and this is your lame attempt at calling me out, then go find something better to do.

Well, it depends- did they think something was wrong with the feature? Was it criticized when the game came out? I don't think BIoware would change a working feature just for the sake of it...
I'm not really arguing with you lol, it's just that your approach is quite interesting and I wanted to hear more =P

Well then let's take our hats off to Bioware then. They're going the EXTRA mile and voicing even those random walking about NPCs.
The only thing that's apparent is that it ISN'T FULLY voiced otherwise why say our X and Y and Z will be voiced. Why not just say...fully voiced. Maybe becuase it isn't? Ya that seems to make sense.
Well then let's take our hats off to SE then. They're going the EXTRA league and voicing cutscenes and NPC's on 4 different languages.
Cutscenes and NPC's are voiced... what else is there to be voiced?
Player Characters for starters? I doubt EVERY interaction with a PC and an NPC leads to a cutscence. It'll probably be like AION in those regards. Maybe if you spent less time slobbering after SE and more time...thinking...I wouldn't have to spell out the obvious to you.
What else is there to be voiced indeed. /facepalm.
Originally posted by spankybus Combat does look very run-of-the-mill though. Mostly just watching cool visuals with minimal input. Anything can get boring if you watch it enough times.
Combat, shmombat. When people are playing an MMO, pretty much the only thing they care about is cutscenes.
They should transform the battle into cutscenes. At the beginning of the battle you should decide how you should fight (decision wheel) an then for the next couple minutes you would watch some cutscenes with incredible cinematic fighting. And of course you would always win because you are heroic.
They should also transform the interaction between players into cutscenes. You would just walk to another player and the cutscenes would start and you would use the decision wheel to decide how you would like to interact with the other player. So you would never have to type text into a chat box again and also the dialogues between players would be fully voiced (when you would create your character you would also customize your voice) - it would really be a 100% voiced game.
There should be no death in the game. Because death can interrupt the flow of the story. And also the player should not be able to do an instance more than once. So the gameplay could be a linear sequence of instances and in this way you would really enjoy the story - like reading a good book or watching a good movie.
Just a suggestion. Maybe it would be nice if they would implement some checkpoints into the game or even better they should give you the option of saving the game manually and creating different gamesaves. So if you would make some bad decisions in the cutscenes (and the decisions can dramatically change the whole story in the future) you could just load some previous gamesave and start again.
I think this is the future of MMO and hopefully we will soon see som next-gen MMO with this features.
*Shrugs* That's all I'd need to say that FF14 isn't fully voiced and that Bioware isn't making an incorrect claim. Besides, considering the player character IS the most important character to the player having it fully voiced is something of a big deal.
Looks like both games have an advantage over the other now, then. TOR voices the player characters, FFXIV voices all but the player characters in 4-5 different languages.
Compared to what SE is doing Bioware's hard work seems quite laughable though.

"LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez has declared Star Wars: The Old Republic is "the biggest MMO project ever developed".
He was joined on stage at EA's gamescom conference by BioWare's Ray Muzyka, who confirmed the game will feature "more than 40 novels' worth of content".
Rodriguez went on to announce that LucasArts is "completely localising the entire game in German and French". In other words, "Every character will have his, her or its own German, French or English voice."
To emphasise the point, they then played the SWTOR trailer from E3 again - but this time with a voiceover in German. Ja. "
Not only will TOR be voiced in three languages across the globe, but will have alien languages as well. Soooo.... yeaaaaaa
Yeah. So they're localizing the game in Alien language? Or having an english, german and french localization where there are voiceovers in alien language? That makes it even less impressive if so- even though there are EN/FR/GER parts that need be localized, the alien parts are universal and need not be voiced 3 times.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
.....Just because its not redone three times does not make it another language. They didn't have to record anything in a Alien language, but they did. Thus time and effort was taken. You can't just deny it as a language in the game just because it will be universal in all three games.
lol Tilion the Alien Voice-Overs are not going to change. They're only going to change the subtitles that go with them. So it's still just 3 languages. And unfortunately alien languages don't count as real languages. Sorry to burst your bubble.
You could make the same possibly statement about any fictional language. However you can speak these fictional languages as well as any other dialect. Elvish from LOTR comes to mind as one of the best fictional languages. Could have been because Tolkien worked as a language specialist for Oxford. However the idea behind a language is characters are expressed through voice and understood by the other party. In the Star Wars universe they have created many languages that do have that same definition. So who are you to say its not a language?

But you still had hope that the Bioware MMO would have given you better combat and control? Lot's of optimism there, I'd say =P

One might say, "A New Hope". (Pun intended) For me this is the only game worth keeping an eye on.
Thought about saying that, but then I thought nah, too corny

TOR is likely to rock
So very cool. Im ready
I think Bioware should go a step further:

Graphics is very obsolate. Character face form lags behind 5-10 years.
And that's all you'll ever manage to come up with.

Well that sounds better. Still only in 3 languages though.
Plus anywhere between 5-10 Alien Languages?
Huh? lol.
did you even watch the demo videos.... or in fact ... any Star Wars game?
