Don't you ever give NCSOFT your Credit card number.

DukeDuDukeDu Member Posts: 73

If you give ncsoft your credit card number they AUTOMATICALLY put you into an "auto renew" sytem of crediting, in another words, even if you don't ask then to, they will charge you every month to credit the games in your account.

Happend to me in lineage 2 and they tried to do the same with Aion, I brought the game with credit card and saw that there was an "scheduled payment" for next month.

Well it's just an advice, if you don't want then to charge you stuff you never asked, don't ever give then your credit card number.

Their excuse for not refunding you? It was writhen on user agreement, yea, belive it or not here goes:

 5. SERVICE FEE; ADDITIONAL FEATURE PURCHASES AND NCCOIN

..."We will automatically charge your chosen method of payment (including, without limitation, credit card, SMS, paysafecard, ELV or NCcoin) on a recurring basis for applicable Account fees or automatically for any Additional Feature purchases, plus any applicable taxes we are required to collect, where you authorize us to do so. All recurring Account fees and Additional Feature of NCcoin purchases are payable in advance."...

So to put it in short, don't give us your credit card number because if you do we understand that we can charge you for ever because you agreed to it.

Imagine, so if you buy a T Shit in a store you'll keep receving that same t shirt over and over again for all eternity, simply because you once gave then you credit card number.

Fair? No it's not. We can do anything about it? Yes you can. Simply don't you EVER give then your credit card number. If you still doubt me, simply read the user agrement yourself.

So, watch out, those Koreans know how to rip you off and won't think twice before doing it.

Almost every if not every single p2p game uses this model.  Welcome to the world of business.

  • FortencFortenc Member Posts: 427

Almost every MMO does this, otherwise you would have to agree every month to keep playing or they would cut it off.

..this is standard behavior, they do it in WoW though I believe you may be able to set them to ask with WoW, maybe not.  Same with WAR, EVE, blah, blah.

Objectivity is delivered with a lack of personality made for the mainstream but never used for the mainstream.

An MMO with an automatic payment?

    INSANITY!

  • TheStarheartTheStarheart Member Posts: 368

This is a little extreme for me.

I think it's best to inform people this is happening. It's definitely welcome to me, because usually when I buy an MMO I plan on paying for more than a month. Even if I didn't when the next month was coming along I would make sure I'm subscribed anyway. Either way, I would have to check out my account options before I was billed again. If I didn't like the game I would be on my account to cancel my subscription.

I don't see any situation beyond complete negligence of my account/payment statuses that this would be a problem.

I neglected my account in City of Heroes once, and I e-mailed them stating my complete ignorance of the situation and accepting fault. I asked them if anything could be done and to check my activity in the game as proof and they re-imbursed my account for the months I didn't have playtime in.

    I see no problems here.

  • donjuanamigodonjuanamigo Member Posts: 256

so i dont understand what your problem is. why wouldnt you want the auto renew? are you going to play the game only one month and thats it? if so, all you do is cancel your account and youre done.

  • PyrostasisPyrostasis Member UncommonPosts: 2,293

welcome to the modern age of p2p mmo's, its been this way since 1997 with ultima online, glad you have caught up with the rest of us.

Simply cancel when you stop playing...problem solved.

  • beliakbeliak Member Posts: 4

    O_o

..... No disrespect intended, nor do I intend any downgrading, but.... Umm.... When you put your credit card on a subscription based game, it's intended to be renewed usually. Otherwise you activate for a month, and remove your details before you get billed again. I myself have been playing MMO's for around 7 years now. All that I've played have automatically renewed my subscription each month unless I removed my CC info.

Most games have automatically renewing subscriptions so you don't have to deal with your service being inturrupted.

  • EvolonEvolon Member Posts: 16

Can you cancel your subscription immediately after purchase and play until the end of your paid-up month? If so then you can do this and just resubscribe at the end of the month if you choose to continue. I have done that with EQ and WoW with no issues.

  • pepcfreakpepcfreak Member UncommonPosts: 106

lol im sorry can i say nub!?

I dont normally post this kind of stuff but this just just funny.

Every p2p MMO you pay afor a monthly sub  for you are auto billed. I like it this way.

Yes this is the model for evey mmo out there where you pay to play. If you pay 14.95 on the 1st, and cancel on the 2nd, you play your entire month.

Buddy. I just think you reach something epic.

Yes this is the exact model nearly ALL P2P games follow. It is definitly able to be canceled. You may have to call NCsoft support. But you can definitly cancel your subscription. Hell, the majority of everything with a SUBSCRIPTION becomes recurring. Thats why they ussually say X$ a month, quarter, yearly. So just calm down. Have fun. Live Life :P

    Are you serious?

I don't think this guy is serious. No one - NO ONE - can be this retarded. Dude, every P2P game works this way. You input your credit card number, then they automatically renew every month on the same day until you cancel. Yes, you can cancel. Seriously.

Just to clarify, cancelling means they will no longer bill you. Which means you won't be billed 'over and over again for all eternity'.

Just to clarify, 'not being billed over and over again for all eternity' means not giving them any money anymore ever unless you resubscribe.

and remember to save any acknowledgement e-mail from a cancelled account - this way if you DO get rebilled after a cancellation you can go to your bank, have them cancel any further transactions and have the bank try to get your cash back.

wah. wah. wah. Next time try reading the agreement before clicking "I agree". I think it's been said that most games use this model, and I'm glad they do. It makes things much more convenient for most people. There is nothing worse than forgetting to re-subscribe, and then having to wait while your payment is approved before getting back in game. It's not as though you can never unsub if you don't like the game, and usually one makes that decision before they ever have a chance to charge you again.

Hmm, I read his post different I guess.

They automaticly put you on subscription when you buy the game with a creditcard.

    Thats how I read it.

And thats not how MMO's usually operate, they have you sign up after purchase.

But I might be wrong... Maybe I didn't read his post right like all ya other guys here.

    :P

This is normal. Either pay using card and have reccuring payment every month or whatever your plan is. Or use a game card. You can cancle any time, this is 100% normal, just don't be stupid enough to forget to cancel if you decide not to play. How you spend your money is your own business. This is the one time where it is really IMPORTANT, to read the end terms "USER AGREEMENT"

But that has to be wrong because it never happened with me, I purchased CE online after  I created my NCsoft account. Then I was able to going into options like "subscription plans ect", where it "CLEARLY" tells you that al payments are "recurring" and will be billed at the end of each month.

It also tells you that you can cancel anytime and you will have the rest of the time on your payment to play untill the next cycle where they shut off your access. This couldn't be more standard, this guy was just caught off guard because he doesn't have experience with online payment system, or doesn't read the terms that he is throwing himself into.
