Actaully there's nothing stopping someone from rifting from a higher level rift and taking a stroll to a lowbie area.  And don't say the slayer system will stop them, hell give it a month for some to max out levels and they'll roll griefer alts just for shits and giggles and grind them up to mow down lowbies.

Nope, slayer system won't stop that.   The slayer system isn't meant to stop it.

But there are also zones that are not accessable by players of an enemy faction.    For example, as an Elyos, if Elthan is sieged by high level Asmodians, you can always go to Theobomos and grind boars, undead skeletons,  harpys, and other stuff which give something like 750 to 1000 XP per kill

Griefing and Ganking don't exist because people don't get mad at video games, or at least they shouldn't.

That is correct.  Finally someone understands.

Think of it this way.  Does the person who is doing the "griefing" or "ganking"  actually think they are "griefing" or "ganking"?

Of course not.  The only people who use such terms are the people who cry about losing.

So to you what is winning? Its a game .. the enjoyment comes from fighting other people and playing the game. If everyone adopted your attitude and the sole goal of *winning*, which it seems from what your saying is to drive the opposition off, to harrass them to the point that they quit playing, in what state will the game be in 6 months form now?
Will one side have *won* and be the only players left? Wheres the fun in that? Why destroy the game you want to play? Play with a little decency and the game will thrive. If everyone is a douche and adopts the greifer attitude the game will fail.
Of course this wont happen because greifers are a small minority. Just trying to see what the OP thinks *winning* really is in these games.

If everyone adopted my attitude, this wouldn't happen because losing would only drive you to grind and level harder, not quit the game.

So you say now. If you were to log on every day for weeks only to be constantly killed by higher level characters you could not even dent .. you'd soon get sick of it. I'm taking griefing here .. they dont allow you to kill ONE mob to gain XP. You can never level .. you can never gain gear .. you just die over and over and over.

Sure thats me taking it to the extreem .. but you dont seem to register anything but extreem scenerio's /shrug

See, this is proof you've never actually played Aion.   You know such a scenario is impossible.

As I said .. taking it to the extreem. Your answer? That could never happen.

That tells me there are measures in place to stop greifing. Care to expand on them? The game designers are therefore taking steps to stop/limit greifing yet you still find it acceptable?

Seems to me from your responce (Could never happen) that if the above (Admittedly extreem) scenerio did happen to you .. you'd be too busy QQin on these forums to play the game. If that was not the case you would have actually answered my querie with more than a *could'ent happen* Would you accept that kind of game or quit and allow the other side to *win* or would you keep logging on to get a$$raped daily? Only a fool is gonna answer with option #2 .. I kinda expect it tho.

BTW I never claimed to have played Aion so why do you need "proof" ? OMG you caught me .. shocker /shrug

No, I just played UO. If I didn't get mad at full loot when I died, why would I be angry at losing next to nothing :P

I understand, If you don't get mad when you are "griefed" then its not griefing, because you don't care, they will get bored and go away.

This is not greifing. This is just playing.

Greifing is following around said lowbies repetadly killing them to ruin thier game experiance. Its alot different from what your doing, which I might add I find perfectly acceptable.

Isn't it arrogant for you to assume the reasons why someone would "repeatedly kill lowbies?"

If griefing and ganking don't exist, then why does Aion use things like the Slayer System to guard against it? It's obvious I think that they view some actions of PvP as not acceptible because they tend to provide an unbalanced and unfun experience, and they try and mitigate that.

I'm sure if you even read the license agreement for Aion you'd find a fairly clear definition of griefing and how you can be banned for it. The terms aren't a form of opinion, but tend to have a pretty clear definition in play.

Fact is, if you get "griefed" it's because you have the type of personality that allows it. So some kid is killing you in a video game repeatedly, you have options : Go somewhere else? Log off and read a book? Let him kill you and see who gets bored first? Roll up an alt? If you don't give 2 shits, you cant be griefed, so it only happens to whiners.

The "slayer system" doesn't guard against what you call "griefing" or "ganking" nor is it meant to.

It's simply an addition to the PvPvE system in Aion.

It's no different then the adding of XP to PvP kills.

Oh yes, there are large guilds built around 'griefing' and 'ganking' and they take great pleasure in causing other people to suffer.

So, just because you aren't doing something, doesn't mean that it does not occur.

And just because you don't do it for pleasure doesn't mean that it's not wrong.

The spirit of competition has its ups and downs, in order to do your best you have to care, otherwise why bother? If losing didn't feel bad, and winning didn't feel good then no one would play.

Not really. People have motives for everything they do. I can only see 1 reason to follow around another person and repetadly kill them. Gimme some more reasons?

Thats a very specific question so dont deviate from it. Give me a reason for one person to follow around another person in an online game and repetadly kill that person other than trying to get an emotional responce. (ie greifing - ruining thier experiance)

And if you come back with *Because it helps my side win* I'll chuckle. How does it help your side win? It drives that person not to play anymore? It stops that one person leveling? (Your side winning / losing hinges on that one person? I think not)

I listed several options for you, and there are a lot more I didn't list. Also, if you just take a break from the game for 15 minutes, they have usually moved on.
