Thanks for the ragequit story bro. Sounds like you've never played through an MMO release in your entire life. Welcome to the hardships of this genre my friend!
As long as people are content to eat garbage, that is all the companies will serve.
If all I cared about was a smooth launch I'd buy a console. PC games have a long and proud history of deep and complex games that are buggy and unstable at release. I'll gladly take all these PC games, warts and all, over the simplistic but reliable and accessible console market games.
I'm not saying that stable and bug free are impossible for PC games, but I'll accept the trend since its been that way for over 20 years. I just want a good game to play.
The game has been launched for 54 hours and people are freaking out that the servers are down. Haven't you ever played a MMOG at launch before?
Next time get smart and wait a month or better yet six months before buying a new game. It will save you from high blood pressure which is dangerous during ragequit-syndrome.
I agree. Any PC game has a waiting period for me , single player or MMO. Its much nicer to install, patch and play than to install and start pulling out my hair, what little hair i have left.
Why would someone with so much nerd-rage get a liftime subscription to a game?

But since there's no game I've played longer than four years, why would I want a "lifetime sub" ever?
I'm not sure what a game that thinks it's going to do very well in the market would offer lifetime subs. That's money they are throwing down the drain. Seems like lifetimes are for games by and large that don't think highly of themselves and their ability to generate income for the most part.
LOL played EQ for 10 years, WoW off and on for 6 years, EVE for 6 years... Actual cost EQ $170 x 10 = $1700 WoW $15 X 72 = $1080 EVE $15 X 72 = $1080 Lotro for three years with a lifetime $200 : )
The math is real simple just wish more games offered lifetimes.
I know the numbers, that's not the point.
When you play those games for that long, you were getting your money's worth so you didn't mind paying the normal fee.
Now you paid for a lifetime fee and want to quit. Wasted $200.

Champions has had one of the better launches I have been lucky to be part of.

I'm just going to point out that CO was developed for use on a console. I could only imagine the type of rage console gamers would put out on a game like this on launch. As more and more MMOs are looking forward to console releases, the days of launching buggy non-finished games will quickly come to an end. CO had every chance to launch this in an un-buggy fashion. The OB build was stable.. thats what many people based their purchase on. I can only imagine how I would feel if I was duped by an OB build or even the headstart build and then found out upon launch day that this wasn't the game I played yesterday.
You can justify it in your mind that this is an MMO launch and its normal to have problems if you want.. that still doesn't really make it right. . . . especially looking at the big picture... right now Lifetime players that don't know cryptic that well or made their decision based upon CoH has to go on good faith that what cryptic is doing is good for the game. I can understand some misgivings about it at this point. Maybe after the first month things will be better.... maybe this ongoing balance issue will span an entire month..... how long is too long before you decide to get your money back? Obviously 30 days is too long... but how many more days do you need to feel cheated before it makes it okay to get your money back?

U do realize that a lifetime sub cost approx. the same a subbing for 1 year ... don't you?
BTW I am playing the game and have not had to buy the final release version so in actuality my LT cost $150 instead of $200.
To the OP ... Over react much? I think you are not being entirely truthful with us or urself. After rethinking the decision to buy an LT you decided to use this hic-cup in the game to get ur money back ... why not have some bawls and just say that.

A console game even the same game made for both PC and console will never be as good as the PC version. The fact that u use the idiot controller leaves u at a diadvantage (see Shadowrun for proof). we won't even get into technical aspects. So yeah it may be on both platform but if ur playing on a console I feel sorry for ya. Consoles are for simpletons.
I am glad this game isn't doing that well, maybe it will get the idea into developers heads that they need to release an actually finished product as opposed to having to do these sudden and unfair changes.

Thats what everyone keeps saying but that isn't true. Thats what PC players tell themselves to make them feel better. I own all 3 consoles and a pretty decent gaming computer. I'm a gamer... I play on all platforms. A game like champions isn't going to change drastically from the PC version to the console version. I know, I played all through CB with the controller.
Anyone who's played with the controller will tell you... the CONTROLLER gives you the advantage... not the PCs Keyboard. Maybe for a FPS you would be correct saying that you have better accuracy with a mouse. Maybe for an RTS you have better control over large expanses. For RPGs you really don't have any advantages... especially in champions.
The only thing that you can't do with a controller that you can on a keyboard? Chat. Not a very big deal nowadays when you can pretty much conference in a vast majority of friends on any various type of network... even on consoles. . . . so lets move past the "Consoles are for idiots" excuse.

Cool I challenge u in game ... Look me up I am "Brawl" in game, however since the console is not out yet I guess we will have to wait till it arrives to see. I am LT so I'll be there and I'll wait till u get to my lvl.
Well I defend the game both here and on the champions site for the past week. However after trying to log in again today with zero luck I feel I need to reassess my position. I called and canceled my lifetime not based on the patch at all but on my inability to play the game I have payed for. First I asked for some form of incentive to keep my lifetime and the girl kinda laughed and asked me what I would suggest. Then i was like whatever just refund the lifetime and she was like we don't offer a refund because it is a lifetime and you are still in the first 30 free days. Im like think about what you just said, Im a lifetime the first 30 days do nothing for me. She is like Im sorry I was like well Im living up to my end of our contract I paid for your service, you are not living up to your end of the contract as for the last 5 times I tried to log in to play the game has crashed, been down, or been unstable. She tried one more time with the well its just launch it will get better, my response was it was perfect in beta, zero issues and was playable all the time. At this point I was like well Ill just call my bank and cancel payment and she was like no no you don't need to do that we can refund it anytime during the first 30 days, so you could wait a bit see if it gets better. I was like no just cancel it and maybe I will come back at a later time if you reoffer the lifetime deal once you have the game actually playable. She sighed and apologized I wished her luck and she is like thanks we need it its very hectic here. Anyway another fan bites the dust even though I really do hope they get it fixed I really did enjoy it in beta.
Personally, I am getting a little sick of this post. In blind faith you signed up for a lifetime account...Then a little turbulence hits and you are following the sheep the the "I'm checking out" isle. No, I have not played this game, and yes I am considering it, but this spoiled brat bullshit over a patch, and a few hours down is pathetic. You bought a LIFETIME account, and in two days you are calling your credit card company? Sounds to me like you latched onto something you though would be lifetime uber. It also seems you had no intention of sticking around in the first place.
Note to developers, stop asking brats for lifetime accounts, 75% will do nothing but reverse charges.
Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

I didn't buy the game at launch, I've already played all the content in CB so I'm waiting a few months to see if they added the content. If you don't believe me that the controller is better go to the champions forum and ask around if the keyboard or the controller is better.. its no secret they'll tell you the game is much more fun with the controller. I'm sure Aganazer would tell you this as well as he's been a major player on the CO boards as well as these.. there have been many threads about the use of the controller in CO and how well done it is.
BUT when I do get in game, I'll happily look you up if you're still around in a couple months (or whenever they release new content). Hopefully they won't change up the game so much that all my "special" builds will still work.

basicly its a pr who will do anything to make you wait just so long as the legal trash gets out of the way then it (sorry ,see ya suckers)makes me laugh when company act like that ,but then its probably just her .i bet her employer wouldnt like to ear the way she acted (bha maybe not)
I never buy lifetime subs because generally I'm sick of a game within one to three months. It's for the best that you canceled, even though you seem like you play games for a long time. If I take your comments at face value that is, which is what I'll do as I'm not going to speculate or call you a troll.
CO is a fun game for a while, but it doesn't have a lot of long term appeal in my opinion.
I think in the end you're going to be the one crying when you finish raging and realise you can't get your lifetime back. On a seperate note, anyone else notice the Desert crisis is a lot shorter than the Canada one? The end is more insteresting, but it was definitely shorter. Ah well I'll know next time to do them both to the final mission before tunneling out Trying a STR/END toon next I think, STR/EGO not really working out.

You are mad that a game in beta is down? Don't write like you talk. "I was like..." is unacceptable if you want anyone to take you seriously.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside
Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.

Out of curiosity, how have you played WoW for 6 years?
Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
You buy a lifetime sub and then cancel it because the server is down one day? Have you not got a long life-expectancy or something?
basicly its a pr who will do anything to make you wait just so long as the legal trash gets out of the way then it (sorry ,see ya suckers)makes me laugh when company act like that ,but then its probably just her .i bet her employer wouldnt like to ear the way she acted (bha maybe not)
I never buy lifetime subs because generally I'm sick of a game within one to three months.
