Yes, I AM in beta...if ya don't believe me feel free to ask me game related questions. Am I just trying to promote the game? NO. etc etc etc...Also, to the guy that claims the game is nothing but a huge pile of buggy software...I honestly have absolutely no clue where you came up with this. No, I'm not saying it's ok to have these minor bugs in a game, but never in the history of mmo's has a game completely eliminated all minor bugs of this sort. These little bugs will be worked out, with more being found regularly and worked out regularly. This happens to ALL mmo's. I will reiterate my point...I have beta tested MANY mmo's and I honestly feel EQ2 is already in better shape than ALL of the others I've tested. It's already a hell of a lot better than some upon release(EQ1, DAOC, AC2, SWG to name a few). I don't give two shits whether all the SOE haters and extreme critics of games play or not. It would just make the atmosphere much better for me and my friends. I just figured I'd give my honest beta experience opinion to those worried about whether this game will be ready or not.
Hey potnah i liked the post, at least you said somthing with some substance. I'm happy to see that one of the flamers on this post is not playing the game after retail, or so hes claims. I dont claim to be a beta guru and dont plan to be, I just like many others want to play the game end of story.

Originally posted by Potnah In response to all the merchants not being populated...There are quite a few merchants that aren't currently populated with items atm. It's nothing major as you can still find all the necessary merchants to buy what you need. Not to mention, this is something that can easily be fixed in 2 weeks. In response to the mobs falling through the world. I've only seen this happen a couple times and it seems to be in areas with varying levels of terrain height. For instance, yesterday in antonica north of NQ bridge I was fighting klicnic warriors. There are caves of them in the terrain and one time while fighting in one of the caves the mob fell through the world. All we had to do was back up a touch and he came right back. This is nothing major either as it happens rarely in only certain situations and can be remedied. These issues are very minor and definitely far from game-breakers.
There's two types of the falling through the world thing. One is where the mob just goes invis when you cross... something. I'm guessing a server boundry. Like when you pull the uuh, water elementals in the castle in Fallen Ruins, or whatever the zones called. If you pass the archway on the bridge, you can see it fine, but if you try to bring it past the archway, it'll disappear. If you cross back, it'll reappear.
Then there are the wierd ones like the miners in Blackburrow that get stuck at the front zone, but will only attack you when you try to cross the bridge to go to the tactician. Or when doing the instance portion of the Fallen Gate access quest, the entire pull of 4 linked mobs fell through on us. The first mob the tank hit stayed visible but the other three were invisible as usual. So no mezzing them by the enchanter. The first two we killed by targeting the cleric, who they were attacking. The final one was attacking, but we weren't able to attack back in the usual manner.
There are other things as well. You can say it's all minor, but those 'minor' things are a matter of perception, and tend to pile up fast. And that doesn't cover everthing that either is in game, and hasn't been tested, or will be added shortly, and go live pretty much untested. And as I've said, this sort of thing just doesn't fly for a 3rd gen game. Especially when other games, like CoH, have had fairly stable launches. At this stage it behooves them to spend the time to make sure that these sort of things are fixed before releasing the game. No one is looking for perfect, so we can just throw that little strawman out the window, but I see nothing wrong with holding all developers/publishers to a minimum standard of quality in a release, be it an MMOG, or a single player game.
Why should they be allowed to release a game in a less than complete state with vague promises of fixing things later(Hi Smugglers!), and then count on people to continue paying in the hopes that it will get better someday?
