So this looks like a pretty pimp game. But what exactly do I need to do? The wiki tells me to get tree branches and craft and stuff, but all the trees are in territory already owned by someone. I literally wandered around for like 30 minutes looking for trees, then the server crashed. I figure I'll just give it another shot tomorrow, maybe some trees will grow or somethin.
There SHOULD be some trees close to the RoB, but - the majority of the time - people just make the stone axe recommended by the wiki and then commence to cut down that tree and all nearby trees for quick LP. >.> This, of course, can lead to quite a problem.
Give me a shout here if you're coming back to play, and what time. I'll help you scout out a few trees.
Call me a cynic but someone who joined three days ago is a strange sort of lurker. I don’t take the recommendation of someone like that who has made 6 posts nearly all about the same game.
I know nothing about the game and it may be fine, but we have had too many posters just joining to advertise their favourite game. So you have to take it all with a pinch of salt.

After playing it for a 6 or so hours(lots of wiki/forum time, and time spent wandering). I can say that it's a very sound game if you only care about game mechanics, and don't mind slow game play.
Has a few interesting mechanics like being able to choose your own death penalty(minimal penalty to perma death for an increase/decrease in lesson gain). A very indepth crafting system. A traditional take on combat that is "kinda" new in a sense. And a lesson based skill system.
Downsides of course is that it's made by two people(1 programmer and an artist), "slow" gameplay, and obviously graphics as well.

In the world of MMO's it seems we will only get anything new from 1 programmer and his mate. The big guys stick to the same tired old formula unfortunately. Good luck to them.

Why you should play H&H:
It has a true "Frontier" style gameplay. On my first day of exploring I managed to find my place on the mini map relitive to the large map they have up online. Apon seeing exactly how far I traveled and exactly how much MORE there was to see, I promptly called my girlfriend and got her to play with me. We both love it.
Something for everyone, you want to be a Farmer, you got it! Bounty Hunter? That too. Blacksmith? Yup. Carpenter. Yes. Someone who can kill a bear with his bare hands and then laugh about it? Yes, thats there too.
Good Community. Small, but great. Theres so many things to do. Trade agreements, Protection Contracts, towns to be formed. Etc.
how many space sims have battles that number 900-1300? How many space sims or any game for that matter have the kind of economy Eve has? You shouldnt talk about something that you have no idea about.

Well I've been playing a couple of week now and have been pretty obsessed with it. Yeah the graphics are old style but IMO the gameplay makes up for any of that in its uniqueness. I find it a very nice break from the big games i play (PS-Ragnarok and Atlantica) and actually have more of a different kind of fun in HaH. I am glad theynow have a donation system so we can hope that they can invest in a better server/more ram whatever it takes to reduce the lags and crashes. It trully is a wonderful sandbox game and I know of no other like it. Once I got far away from town and set up my little farm in a far away corner I'm having a blast learning and growing. ( I discovered I accidentally settled near quality 53 clay which is a nice boost and no I'm not sayng where I live on the supergrid...LOL)
I do understand the permadeath feature scares alot of people away,. no one likes to work so hard to be taken out of the game by a griefer for nothing, but I think it is very rare since they themselves will be killed for doing so by some enthusiatic ranger who likes dishing out rightous vengence for abused care-bear players like myself (and the majority of players of this type of game acutally).
I do urge folks to give it a try if you like a true sandbox with rich content and lots to do. I've been a hardcore gamer for way over 10 years now and a little game like this can still thrill me, it really is "something new".
