Pre Paid Game Cards perchance? Let's fire it up here people.

GunWorldGunWorld Member Posts: 15

Hello friends,

Well, like the topic says:  Can I buy some type of pre-paid game card at my local game shack to pay my monthly dues?

P.S.

It will be funny when the answer comes back as NO to my question.

"We are sorry, but at this time all post-apocalyptic game applicants must be stable citizens with proper identification who are on the grid with a valid bank account in order to participate in the simulated downfall of the military industrial complex where half melted A.T.M. machines are used as skull recepticles  and NPC's with names like 'leather lips' reside in blown out station wagons.  Yes, you too can fulfill your wildest punk rock / Mad Max fantasies as long as your federal & local government institutions approve of your patriotic participation in their control systems and you have the proper documented verification of said approval.  Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in the game."

    I don't think so.

CC, Paypal are your options at the moment.

Too bad. Thanks for the info.

I agree. It made me laugh.

    The answer, though, is no.

The only MMOs I know of that sell game time cards in stores, are anything by Nexus and WoW. So, your choices are pretty much Maple Story & WoW. I've seen a few more at random places in Cali, but I haven't seen them anywhere else in the US. Some games used to sell them, but unless your game is geared towards kids then it's pretty much a waste of money. That said, FE is geared to be the opposite of kids, and even has a rating of M.

On a side note, what kind of PC Gamer doesn't have a PayPal account &/or at least a pre-paid CC? FFS, I can only think of 2 things I don't buy online. Groceries & Clothes. Hell, I even order my Pizza Hut online.

My goodness. You're like the person back in the 20's who walked and would never ride in a car because it wasn't natural.

For one, your there's no such things as 'private' financial details. For two, your financial details have already been published in any number of different forms, just so a company can make a quick buck selling customer details to someone else so that they can market to you.

Your reasons can be your own, most certainly, but please don't try to mask your ignorance trying to take a high road that doesn't exist.

Not because it wasn't natural, but because it wasn't safe. Back in the day, cars were very dangerous to ride in. No seat belts or air bags, and sheet glass windows.

Come on Hatter, I am kind of dissapointed in your reply to my post as you usually are so cool and helpful.

Its not the whole Maple Story kids crap part of your post its the last part.. the whole "come on, get with it, EVERYBODY is doing it" attitude.

Yea, I am a PC gamer... but I also find wi-fi hot spots to play at on my lap top, and I do lead a kind of semi-hobo lifestyle and find rooms to rent and stuff.  I am pretty much off the grid, yet I am still hi-tech.  Being tied in to real credit world is kind of a drag and saying that being involved whole-heartedly in the banking matrix is a drag is not some type of Matrix movie fantasy.. some of us really are like ghosts in the machine.   It does not mean we have to be elite tech heads or hackers and wear black trench-caoats, it just means that we are off the grid as a whole as much as we can.

And you must admit there is at least a touch of irony involved when the game being played (FE) encompasses the "off the grid" punk rock, Mad Max attitude... so it is a bit lame to get semi-flamed by fellow gamers who have a "so whats wrong with you that your not involved with the grid" attitude.

You could always get a pre-paid game card and use a fake name, if they even make you give a name. I don't know much about them, but my understanding is that they work alot like pre-paid cell phones.

Yeah. People are really afraid to trade over the internet and use their Visa card or the card they have. They can get their visa number stolen, their bank account empty, and their business traced. Well something in the line of that.

Now one also have to explain and understand from what sites they risk getting their card number stolen from. And one also need to realise that they actually don't have to collect your number to use it. If unlucky their random generated numbers is your even if you never used that card at all.

And I think that most people that do play these games, use internet, and are aware of these things... I mean those people that acknowledge the risk don't need to worry. As assumingly they won't give out their card to the "wrong", they won't buy that Maliby House... They won't fall for the email in your inbox asking for you account verification because the bank is having issues with their computers.

We also have these people that takes out money from the ATM (or what it is called) that carrys their money in the pocket. Well... I never have lost my wallet, but the day I do I know that I will only lose a piece of worthless plastic. They won't be in as good situation as I am.

Well my Visa card was used falsely once. In the end the bank refunded me to the full amount, does the  insurance company the same  when someone used your physical money. I put alot more trust in the use of plastic for my own safety than having a lump of cash in my wallet.

Oh, and I am pretty shure that your privacy is alot more private on the internet then when you use the card in any store.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

We are aware of potential security flaws in your online banking account. Please post your routing and account numbers and I will personally ensure your account is secure.

Seriously, I have a friend that needs to keep her FE payments invisible. Would you suggest she pay cash for a rechargeable credit card? Is there an easier way?

Oh.... you mean send you a check?

    lol

Checks should be illegal. Seriously. I have never used them and anyone who does is just asking for trouble. Outdated pieces of crap.

What is wrong with a check?  Just don't be stupid and walk around with blank checks.  Besides whether you live off or on the grid the world is still a dangerous place full druggies, drunks, pedophiles and predators.

Gimme a check, blank check, written out to someone else, or a void check, doesn't matter. Just give me a check and tell me what you want and I'll have it sent to your house.... or my house.... or your neighbors house doesn't matter.

Checks have a routing number and a bank account number and that's all you need to have pretty much full access to your bank account.

Hmm. I don't use checks, either. I pay cash. For virtually everything.

I also don't owe a dime to anyone.

You also don't have any credible credit, which means people won't sell anything to you that you don't have the money to pay for up front. That's all well and good when you're paying for small goods, but it can make it a pain in the ass when you try to rent an apartment, buy a house, or a car, etc.

If you wish to be paranoid, there's certainly nothing wrong with that. Paranoia, to a certain degree, can be healthy.

I've had my debit card hijacked and used for porn. Quite a bit of porn ($2000 worth in a month.) Turns out my roommate at the time had used one of my checks that I paid him to get the numbers off of and gone on a masturbatory spree of the likes no one had ever seen before apparently. The bank refunded me the money that was spent. It was a pain and all, but I still use my credit card online quite a bit. So just because you think you're 'off the grid' doesn't mean you are, or that you're safe, and especially not 'cool'. Also, by logging in with your laptop, you're pretty much broadcasting where you are, so you're hardly being 'spookish'.

If you want to pay for things with cash and such, then feel free. It's a free country and all that, but quit whining when you find out that the rest of the country has moved on without you. Either join us or sit back and envy us, which is the basic point of this post. Waaaah....I'm not a member of the 21st century and can't take advantage of the good things while avoiding the bad things.
