Thats exactly what I said. Ship on the 8th arrive next day on the 9th. Read again.

I see your point. But theyre not going to leave the games in the back storeroom to wait for the "customer release" it doesnt work like that. When I was a teenager I worked for a bookstore and a videogame store. The bookstore would get books 2 weeks before release however the videogame store is entirely different.
The game will be released out to all the markets AND the servers will be up for play on November 8th...9th at the latest.

Sure it does - the servers don't go online until the "release" date. Supposing a retailer sells copies tomorrow, you still can't play until they bring up the retail servers, along with the retail account key database.
What you have described works for offline games, books, etc - someone breaks the date, everyone starts selling. But even if some retailers get them in stock earlier than the "release" date, you still won't be playing until SoE wants you to.
I'm starting to think you're just a WoW fanboi in here to piss everyone off. You're wrong, and I'm done with you.

You couldn't be further from the turth there... I have dozens of posts in the EQ2 forum advocating this game, and only 3 or 4 in the WoW forum total. In fact, I have completely sworn off WoW after having played the stress test. EQ2 (IMO) has far more depth and it's the game I will be playing for quite a while.
But go figure that as soon as someone is the least bit critical of anything SoE does, they are labeled a WoW fanboi in this forum. All I am saying is the verbage in the press release is unclear whether they are talking about when the game ships, when it's released, or when it goes live. Yes, I am skeptical of this release schedule, but I think that they have been deliberately vague in stating exactly when the game will come out for a good reason: they are covering their asses.
Jeez, everyone relax. You have it on my personal authority that everything will be fine. It will ship on the 8th and go live on the 8th in case anyone gets it same day.
I have looked long and deep into the future with my crystal ball, turned over some Tarot cards, and sacrificed a few chickens. And all omens point to a smooth launch!
Don't worry, be happy.
Now all I have left to do is look into my morning oatmeal for patterns depicting the future. Once I know for certain...i'll let you know.

Just a side note - notice how Blizzard sates when the game will Launch - so much less confusion. I don't know, nor do I care when the UPS guy picks the boxes up from Irvine. -pooka
which Blizzard 'launch" date are you referring to, Pooka? lol ..."Soon?...Awhile?... In the days ahead?"
Really - it doesnt matter. Point is sometime on or after the 8th people will get to play EQ2 and leave the forum flame wars behind....Kinda sad, isnt it?
> which Blizzard 'launch" date are you referring to, Pooka? lol ..."Soon?...Awhile?... In the days ahead?"
The date I am referring to is what was mentioned in the Detroit Free Press:
World of Warcraft," the online world game from the makers of the incredibly popular "Warcraft" strategy game series, is scheduled to launch the week of Nov. 22, the Free Press has learned.
While this too is far from concrete, I was trying to illustrate the difference between an implicit statement ("ship date") and explicit one ("release date"). If Nov 8 is so concrete, then why wouldn't they be more specific?
> the game stores get the game days before they can legally sell them.
...which further reinforces my point. If it ships out on the 8th to retailers across the country (as they said it will in the press release), then they get their copies in stock on the 9th or later, after which the game goes live.
> EQ2 may be released on the 9th bet you wont be able to play the bugged filled piece of [poopiepants] game for about 6 months or longer.

Then it is released SELECTIVELY on the 8th, and late everywhere else? I don't think so.

Yes, yes. Kill the infidel. Have him executed for daring to question your assumptions on the mighty SOE.
Fact is, he's right. Shipping on, and releasing on are not neccessarily the same thing.

ROFL
That was only for the Open Beta... not sure if it was signups, downloading, playing... or what.
I've seen nothing about an official release date on WoW. Some rumor from taking with the company re: HL2's release is it.
