Ive read some post about people getting banned for swearing, but i wonder what situations causes this.
Do you only get banned if you are offensive ( telling someone to go .... himself etcetc)
Or do you also get banned if you for example tell your friends: wow thats a swearword nice sword.
and when swearers get banned is it because, wow has a system that picks up swearwords that are uttered on the servers or is it because someone petitions the swearer?
For me its doubtfully gonna be a problem because i dont use offensive swearing i usually just pk whoever i dont like:)
And when it comes to using a swearword as a adjective its usually intern with my friends in norwegian:)
But still i wonder about how this issue is handled by Blizzard.
Anyone:)?
Swearing is culture:)

The F word is frowned upon here; its a forum of all chucky cheese ages

oh ops sorry:)
I haven't heard any specific instances of somebody getting banned for language. If they did it was probably just a 3 day ban. Though the was somebody(Lure) calling people n****rs in general in Ellewyn forest a day or three ago, and after pretty much the whole zone reported him/her, I've not seen hide nor hair of them.
The only person I know of who was banned was Tri-X of Dogma, who was banned because GFrazier said he should be.
I am wondering too. My friends and I always use bad words on the internet . We call each other the N word and the F word when we get mad. All the words you can think of. That's pathetic we can't say what we want.

I have too much time on my hands.. and I read the whole account of what happened, as posted by Tri-X. That's just frickin awful. I'm a little leary of getting the game... If more than one employee plays it(which i'm sure they do), I have a tendancy to clash with people. I wouldn't want to step on the wrong person's toes and lose my account for it.
Granted, it is an isolated case... as far as we know.

thanks for the replies:)
I fully understand players that use offensive swearing if they for example get ninjalooted and so on.
So i dont think that kind of stuff should be bannable, but if its a racist or a treat then i think it should be (or get a warning ).
But for the other example where you use a swearword as adjective to friends, guild and team i dont think it should be bannable, and if its a problem for someone in the group im sure most people would change their use of adjectives to suit these players:)
blablablalbalblablablablalba:) kinda repeating myself
but still main question is....
Do swearwords automaticly get registered and sendt to Blizzard or do players have to petition it:)?
I haven't played the game, but I highly doubt they'd have every Curse word logged and sent to blizzard. From the MMO's i've played, it's common to have the "Dirty Word Filter" option.
And honestly, it's more work for them if they have to sift through chat logs to see whose swearing. I would pretty much put money on it being via a petition.

I absolutley hate it when people swear in public. Maybe it's alright in the auto shop when you smash your hand with a hammer or get headshot whil playing CS when you're alone. But inpublic? C'mon, show some courtesy. Maybe its the fact I'm studying to become a 4th grade teacher or believe in a thing called respect, I always tell people to watch their language when they run of their mouth. Lineage had a decendt setup where a "-_-" would appear for each swear word. You could go into the folder and delete a certain file that would get rid of this feature, but modifying Lineage files is a bannable offense. In today's world and professionalism in MMORPGs, I would think that some sort of sensoring system would be implented; especially in a game where young children will be playing. Just my two coppers....

Ok, something kinda OT from the rest of this thread: I'm sure I'm not the only one who reads the official forums often and can plainly see the instances of favoritism towards GF and the Kali or DiE, it's really kinda sickening seeing just because a dev is in so and so we should listen to them first, and the instance with Tri-x is a shame; on the other hand it has quieted down lately.
Back on topic: Filters work like a charm, turn on.. turn off, all MMO's should have them. imo

Inappropriate language must be reported for you to get in any sort of trouble over it.
I doubt swearing, unless excessive, and used to harrass someone, would attract attention, other than maybe a verbal warning from a GM to watch your language. If you kept it up after that, well you're just dumb in that instance, and deserve whatever punishment they deem appropriate.
Calling people racial slurs in general chat? Gonna get you in trouble, which is as it should be
Sending tells/group chat amongst your friends, you can hurl whatever epithets at each other you want. Though, I'd question any friendship where you're calling each other n****rs. I mean, my friends and I will give each other crap, but if one of them called me that, even though I'm white, I'd beat their ass. Though, somehow, I doubt the people that do that sort of thing in game would have the sack to ever dare say it out loud in public, particularly if there were black people within earshot. Something to do with anonimity, and the lack of any real recriminations on the net.
People saying things are gay is another one I'd love to see people get banned over. Pretty weak that racial slurs get condemed, but no one bats an eye when someone says 'Oh, thats so gay'. Unfortunately, those people will never get the pleasure of meeting my friend, Gary. Looking at him, you'd never think he was gay. Black guy, built like Tyson, only a little shorter. Until you hear him talk, anyway.
It's funny watching people make disparaging remarks about gays in front of him, assuming that he's straight.
Can relate, I would want to think it's just minors that think that 'gay' is some sort of insult. I know know gay guys that are built like ford trucks . So saying it as an insult I guess to do demean someone manhood is just plain asinine.
Racial slurs are are major peeve of mine too, no matter who it's trying to insult (I'm a mutt so a lot of them could refer to me). Over the years of living in 'backwood wisconsin' I guess I guess I grew a hard skin to such things, hearing them ingame, ugh, some 14 yr old neo nazi wannabe wants to act tough... ONLINE. Gets my pity.
To my experience, you get banned if what you say insults someone. If its just common talking they won't notice unless a GM is playing at that time and sees the text written.
Advice: If you want to swear to your friend or someone you know its cool with it, use the private/tell system so that only you know about it. I wouldn't venture to swearing in the general chat. There are to many "sensitive" people out there that get offended easely.
Just use the filter system. If you don't want to be offended just keep it on like it's your job.
Destroy Yourself , See Who Gives A FUC|{
Actually.... I just checked.
N*g"g*r, n.
1 - (a) Used as a disparaging term for a Black person: You can only be destroyed by believing that you really are what the white world calls a n*gg*r (James Baldwin).
(b) Used as a disparaging term for a member of any dark-skinned people.
2 - Used as a disparaging term for a member of any socially, economically, or politically deprived group of people: Gun owners are the new n*gg*rs... of society (John Aquilino).
Now, technically there's nothing wrong with this if you use the 2nd form. Context is everything. But, like in real life, if you do not use discretion you just might get your ass kicked for using it.
I really support the use of bad-word filters, those of us that wish to disable it can, and parents (and others that don't wish to be exposed to profanity) can leave it on.

If I remember correctly, there is another meaning for the word... I remember my old english teacher telling me. We were reading "And Then There Were None".... it used to go by the title "10 Little N-----s". Quite a drastic name change but, apparently the word N---ardly means to be lazy, or something like that.
I personally stray away from ever using those words... Even in jokes. Just never seemed right to me. And I cringe when my friends use those words...

Personally I love swear words. Swear words help give more color and flavor to my dialog with people.
Course, if you have half a brain, you should gauge who your talking to and get a feel for whether it is acceptable.
If im angry about something someone else has done, "Man, that really is bad" doesnt seem to cut it.
Anyways, f***.....what a great word, so versatile and yet elegant at the same time.

Personally, I swear like a sailor. I can let loose a stream of vulgarities that will warp the plaster on your walls. But I don't really swear in game. And I really don't mind people swearing in game. It's not that big a deal to me, and to those it is, there's always the filter, but we all know full well how easy it is to circumvent the filter, not to mention it sometimes filters weird things, like the word circumvent.
Where I get my hackles raised, and the shit hits the fan, is people using racial slurs, or spouting off their imbecilic homophobia. There's no valid reason for it. Period. You can try to rationalize it, justify it, whatever, all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that I can only hope you find yourself someones prison bitch as payback for being a bigoted, ignorant, waste of space. To put it nicely.
