This is NCSoft's official stance on gold spammers.

We currently have Game Masters monitoring all our servers. They track chat channels closely and have been banning thousands of spammers every day. This form of active monitoring is a part of a much larger network of tools and sensors that we’re currently utilizing to help create a better game experience for the Aion community across the board.

Do you really believe Ncsoft have banned thousands of spammers? or just deleted their names / renamed them. Why cant they give us real information on real accounts.... oh i know, they havent !!!   unless YOU were stupid buying gold.

If you’re experiencing chat spam, there is a way for you to address this immediately on your own and help us create a better gameplay experience for everyone. You can use the Block User feature. All you need to do is to right-click on a user’s name and choose to block that user. While this doesn’t eliminate the problem, it is one small step you can actively make to improve your game experience. Using Block User also helps us identify spammers much more quickly.

I have to laugh at the above statement, for us to enjoy the game we have to sit their every day blocking NCsofts GM spammers then continue. Just wait for the Spammers, to take over /1 /4 and send you mail, whispers. Pathetic really.

We are considering a number of methods to address this

Lets see if NCSOFT REALLY are going to stop the spam, are they going to give up extra revenue by giving us a filter to STOP reciving in game spam?  TBH i really dont think so, as /whisper will then be used.

chat spam that have been implemented in previous games, as well exploring new technologies and what they may have to offer to improve your game experience. One upcoming feature for Aion will be an improved chat filter to help reduce the overall chat spam. This filter, along with new tracking and monitoring methods, is the first of many steps that we’ll be taking to help resolve the issue of gold spamming.

We absolutely recognize how important this is to you and a good game experience in Aion, and we reiterate that we are currently addressing it.

So get GMS in game that chat on the chanels with your CUSTOMERS before the masses that get really sick of this LEAVE

And all thats left are the kiddies that WILL buy gold and always have.

If you actually read this in one sitting, NCsoft have not once apologised for not providing a chat filter or for any SPAM. They talk about fixing it, they talk about GMS on chat chanels.  Seriously think about it,   IF i paid my staff to sit in game creating 2 or 3 characters spamming gold for a microtransaction website we created and i saw another toon spamming that would be instantly banned.  This is all about money.

How many ways can I poke a hole into this troll post?  Let me count the ways...
    1) Gold sellers acquire accounts by stealing your login and password information.  Most of the time, you just hand this sensitive information over to them under the pretense that they will power-level your character(s) up to max level for a set fee.  Other times, they just hack your computer and get the information via keyloggers or social engineering.  Once they do that, they ahve access to all of your game account's items, characters, and can even get YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION and sell it to the highest bidder... like identity thieves.
Show me one post on any EU / NA server that has people screaming their ACCOUNTS have been hijacked at all.
What you have said above is CRAP. NCSOFT can Create characters without SERIAL CODES. Come on use that brain inside your head, they do NOT need to steal accounts!  on most servers its usually 2/3 names you have to block.... Why not 100 names?  if it really was outside non affiliated RMTs why only 2/3 per day. why not create a new one right away.

    2) Game companies charge a monthly fee for most MMO's on the market.  They stand to make more money by keeping their customers, the players, happy and satisfied with their gaming time.  After all, we are their main source of income.  What possible enjoyment do we get from having to listen to people spam badly typed text macros?  None.  How many people would cancel their accounts and make sure game companies shut down the game if they are actively endorsing gold spam and criminal activity?  Everyone (in theory.)
Big deal they charge XXX a month, now THINK here, who would spend thousands of pounds to make 15$ on 1000 Gold?  And yes everyone would shut down their accounts if the truth be told. Isnt Gameguard meant to stop this? if gameguard isnt meant to stop hackers, bots or supposed spammers why arent NCSOFT telling us how many were blocked / banned. Im sure in the coming weeks after pressure on the forums NCsoft will say X Y Z and you will believe them.
    3) Every single online game has rules, laid out in plain English, about hacking and manipulating the game in some form or fashion.  The majority of the time such behavior occurs, the offender is banned because of these gross violations of the respective EULA.  Everyone who uses the software - including these spammers - has to accept the EULA or any other terms when they install the software (and when they log in to Aion.)  When you do so, you are accepting a contract.  You violate the contract?  Your account is banned.
Again this statement is absoultely rubbish. in it you talk about a EULA... where is NCSOFTS EULA regarding SPAM free servers. Mmm why hasnt NCSOFT been actively patrolling the servers banning these spammers right there and then.
On Kharun everyone there has stopped using LFG chanel, ncsoft might as well rename it, Gold spam Aka Microtransactions.

TL;DR version: Conspiracy theory fail.  Go troll somewhere else; your stupidity is not welcome here.
Great arguement here, this comment just shows you either WORK for NCSOFT or a silly kid that acutally believes a company thats in financial meltdown is not behind these spammers. YOU kid get the cookie of the year.
The cookie is called, GET YOUR BLINKERS OFF... open your eyes. Since launch i have not posted much on these forums regarding the game, yet you throw names like Troll around, Troll is meaning to constantly flood a forum with useless POSTS just like your post which i have flamed to death. Not once have you posted proof my acquisation of NCSOFT a company that needs $$$ badly for upcoming court cases has 0 i will underline this bit...
ZERO IN GAME SUPPORT ON BANNING OR MODERATING Chat CHANNELS.
NAME ME ONE OTHER MMO THAT HAS NO IN GAME MODERATORS.
The reason for this, they all take turns Spamming your LFG chanel

And you're right... NCSoft can create characters anytime they want.  The question is: Why would they want to?

MONEY.... is your answer...   BLizzard, had 11million players, they had a massive bot / spamming buisness in game as well.  I should know as i watched my Guild desimated when WE reported one player name that was a GM, that GM gave us information on 3 websites Blizz uses, yet people still didnt believe us.

Oh, and by the way, GameGuard was removed from the game before it launched... because of people like you who screamed about it crashing your system.  It was removed because of people like you who don't understand that a smart hacker can absolutely RUIN YOU, drive you into bankruptcy, turn you into a criminal, and make sure you will always work in fast food for the rest of your life with a few mouse clicks.  You don't believe me?  Talk to someone who has had their identity stolen.

ABOVE you seem to try to flame me personnaly for gameguards removal, isnt the REAL reason the fact its a ROOT KIT and illegal to use in the UK? Mmm me think so. I had NOTHING to do with this so wtf you ranting on about fanboiz?

One more thing... NCSoft has plenty of money from its other games to defend itself against being sued.  Try looking up their end-of-year accounting statements; you'll be pleasantly surprised.

ARE you really sure about this?  As once RG wins in court im sure Ncsoft will have lost a vast amount of $$$$$

How about this for logic? If they are the ones selling the gold, why exactly do they need the gold farmers/bots? Oh, that's right, they don't, it's their servers, their code, they can produce gold from thin air.
You may not like the company and some things show a certain level of incompetence, but that doesn't mean that they are after the gold selling.

I woulnd't be surprised if they were behind some of the business. They would need the farmers/bots to have someone to blame.

Try getting in game support to ban them. Cough cough, really think Ncsoft would?
So far on Kharun (new server) i have 50+ names now on ban, its a joke this. Why not just put adverts in your game instead!

keep yer filth* mouth shut with such accusation on blizzard, ONCE, just ONCE there was an accidental  goldseller add on the WoW forums and they directly removed it and it hasn't ever happened again!

Actually, selling ingame gold is legal to the law.  there are tons of games that sell in-game items for real money, which is legal.    its a humans choice to participate in a game, and to pay for parts of it, creators make their own  User Agreements, and are god in their game...  as long as its not fraud :)

    do research, peace out :P

What the warm cookies are you talking about man!

I am telling people how a GM gave our Guild on deathwing a full update on 3 websites that are / were used by Blizzard in selling gold.

Out of thousands of websites selling gold Only one has been taken to court in the USA... Probably because they didnt give a % cut back to blizzard.

In the first 6 months of EU launch, Blizz made 100,000 a day through gold selling alone.

So what your talking about on a forum was blizzards WEBSITE!

This post reminds me of something that makes me laugh every time I see it on TV

Do you know of the commercial where the guy says his computer is finally fast

I wouldn't doubt for a second they were making money somehow from gold selling, powerleveling, account selling...

They can create all three of those things in probably less than 10 seconds to sell to someone, or give to some other website to sell.   We've all been duped!!!!  Stop playing these games for the feeling of power, play them for fun or don't play them at all.

  • Vulnero87Vulnero87 Member Posts: 182

I'm sorry, but until you point out any evidence, either it be Blizzard being apart of RMT or if NCsoft is apart of RMT, then all of this is stupid and untrue.

Everyone has opinions, but does that make them the universal truth??? NO!

  • Vulnero87Vulnero87 Member Posts: 182

Another question is, if in fact your guildies got banned because you were talking to a GM about blizzard being apart of RMT websites, then someone in your guild obviously should have screenshots or some kind of log of you talking to this GM about this.  Something this big were to actually happen then I'm pretty sure someone in your guild was smart enough to at least keep some kind of record of this.  Either it be screenshots or recordings of the conversation with this GM.

If you can't prove any of that than your lieing about this and have some sort of vendetta with either Blizzard or NCsoft.  Maybe even both because you seem to point out both of them doing this.

Everyone has opinions, but does that make them the universal truth??? NO!

Ok, the OP is coming out of left field and is being somewhat trollish, but one fact does remain:

The spammers and the bots are still there.

Sure, a minute of blocking kills the spam, and changing channels can allow me to evade the "grindbots", but the fact is I really shouldn't have to do this.

If it gets to the point my enjoyment is seriously impacted, NCsoft will lose my sub.  I don't think I am alone here.

Also, this whole bot and spam issue is becoming the benchmark on how we western gamers view NCdoft's comitment to us as paying customers and the level of service they are going to provide us.  If they fail here, it may very well tarnish their image, so it behooves them to fix this and quick.

Frankly, if they don't kill the spam (at the very least) and reign in the bots, many players will simply declare that NCsoft does not care for them as customers and we will go elsewhere.  That's why the issue is so important.

Very true.  The fact remains that the OP is accusing not just NCsoft, but also Blizzard being apart of some huge RMT scandal.

I really hope they do fix this.  NCwest is the one controling this end of Aion and they don't have a HUGE staff ATM.  This is because of NCsoft not putting a huge market into the western end of their gaming.  Don't forget they have whatever is left of CoH/CoV and Lineage/Lineage 2.  Before anyone brings up GW is still big, which it is, but NCwest doesn't control or deal with those servers.  Arenanet does, which I think in one way or another they are incorporated into NCwest/NCsoft, but they are still a stand alone company.

This is off the top of my head, but I've been reading up about game companies for a while now for school.

I don't think they are the ones that are doing it here is why. They must know that most people hate spammers and gold sellers and if there is to many of them it will drive people to quit the game.  I don't know how much gold costs to buy and IDK how often people buy it. But If they were the people doing the gold selling they really are just digging themselves in a hole.  Not everyone playing the game will buy gold but everyone that likes the game and is playing it will pay the monthly sub..

Oh, don't get me wrong, I am not buying into the Op's assertions, just pointing out that the problem is still there, whatever the cause.

You bring up interesting points about the other NCsoft titles, but the part where you say, "This is because NCsoft not putting a huge market into the western end of their gaming." is key.

This right here, gives the impression that us western players are somehow worth less than asian customers and are subject to substandard service.  This his been one of my main beefs with Asian games.   If they treat me like a dirty stepchild, why should I buy their future products?

Zorndorf playing the conspiracy card to try to justify the Aion numbers on Xfire?

The only fact we know is that Aion had close to 400k PREORDERS, anything beyond that is speculation.

The claims in this thread are so funny.

    http://www.wow.com/2009/01/22/gold-ads-appear-on-blizzs-forums/

This mistake on Blizzards OWN website was done deliberatley by the staff in question to show THEIR own Gold selling website

Blizzard has responded officially to the matter, stating: "Recently, there was a temporary error with our forum advertisements that caused a gold-selling ad to be displayed. At this time, we have resolved this error. Our stance... remains firmly against the buying or selling of gold, and we may take action against accounts that are involved in these activities."

Hangon a mo, this is BLIZZARDS own Website, only people with ACCESS to this site would get permission to the server to change/modify websites.

Other information regarding this is available but due to Legal issues i am sure not posting these here on mmorpgs website.

Our guild has long left BLizzards mmo cash cow behind, silently waiting ressurection in TOR. now a lot of you will keep posting for proof regarding NCsoft.

The proofs their EVERY TIME you log into game, how many Gold farmers you block today?

Tomorrow? thursday? Friday? Next week?  Ncsofts own stance, publicly is "we deplore gold selling and it be bannable" Yeah right...

So your "proof" is the following: Gold spammers exist in our games so the company is obviously behind them.

What a wonderful line of thinking.

Let me apply the same kind of logic somewhere else: Thieves exist in our society, so the government is obviously behind them.

    See what I did there?
