It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
-Aggro generated by healing has been reduced drastically.
-Timed Missions can now be shared. If you share a Timed Mission, the value of the timer will be inherited by your teammates.
-Crossover Missions: When a teammate shares a mission that you are not eligible for or have already completed, you will now be offered a "Crossover Mission" so that you can continue to play with your team. Crossover Missions give you special experience and resource rewards, but will not give you item rewards or allow you to progress in story arcs. Crossover Missions are not currently available for Nemesis Missions or Patrol Missions.
-Defense and Power boosts now significantly repair Personal Force Field (and many other “force field” like powers)
There are lots more but these are the ones that jumped out at me. See the rest here.

They didnt' restructure the team. People with no idea of what it takes to develop software seem to think there's a magic button that makes code do what the users are asking for. Takes time especially with an MMO that has dozensand dozens of systems that have to coordinate together. The fact they got this in there barely a month after release along with the dozens of other changes, additions etc and the upcoming Halloween event is a sign of a confident team with a set plan on how to go about the fixes despite the crying raging whiner babies that think every one should be done now now now.

What they most likely have been doing all along is to continue to work on and add things that were cut from game as not being ready for release.
Just like the "event" they have been working on that for quite a while as well.

Which is what ALL game developers with MMOs do including Blizzard, SOE, NCSoft they all do this its standard. MMO's are never done but most people don't understand / comprehend that. But there are of course examples of incredibly poor states of release like say Age of Crapnan and Star Wars Galaxies. They were in such terrible states of disrepair at release they never recovered...SWG of course had some drastic changes done and it just further axed it off.

Wow you seriously have no clue who you talking too. Don't make assumptions, they don't make you look smart. I bet I know a lot more bout game development then you ever will....
Have you ever typed a line of code? What programming language do you use? Can you skin characters in 3dsmax? Can you code a complex multithreaded rendering engine? How bout networking architecture? Do you know how Client/Server architecture works?
Silly post yo

This game hasn't recovered yet either. Still major balance issues, crappy pvp, broken powers (Mindful reinforcement anyone), content gaps, etc.
This game is also an example of a title released in a poor, incomplete state.
You are the only one that isn't comprehending this game was released extremely early. There is a big difference from 'never being done' and releasing 'well too soon'. CO leans towards the latter (released bout 6 months early).

This game hasn't recovered yet either. Your OPINION Still major balance issues, No game is truly balanced crappy pvp, Game is not focused on PvP broken powers (Mindful reinforcement anyone), That's debatable content gaps, Only thing I can agree with... but all starting MMO's have some sort of content issues etc.
This game is also an example of a title released in a poor, incomplete state. Stop with the specious arguments. This is only your opinion, not fact.
You are the only one that isn't comprehending this game was released extremely early. Wow... talk about assuming everyone follows your beliefs there. No, this game was not released "extremely early", as you so claim it was. However, IMO this game was released early (not "extremely early" as you claim). My only gripe was with the content gaps. But, the devs have been updating the game quite nicely IMO. There is a big difference from 'never being done' and releasing 'well too soon'. CO leans towards the latter (released bout 6 months early). Again, your OPINION. You really need to stop with the specious arguments before you get reported for trolling.
If you know anything about code you sure the hell dont act like it. You make it seem as if it sjust so easy when its not. I write code everyday of my life and all i se you bitching about how slow things go etc etc well thats just kinda how it goes with large projects. You can't hit a magic button and the code just do what you want. You have to look at the code, the attached systems and decide from there how best to change it or if it can even be changed in a short cost effective amount of time.
If anyone makes silly posts its you. If you know anything other than big words and crying then I'm a monkey's uncle.
btw I code in C, C++, Managed C, I write shaders and I work / write xml code, I work everyday on a massive multi threaded rendering engine that is used to train military pilots and if you knew anything about coding you wouldn't ask about 3DSMax and Skinning models since Modeling is an entirely different skill set. And yes I know about and have done a bit interface work on our network system (though thankfully I'll be sticking with rendering and tool applications since our network code is ancient and so not my department.
but like I said if you knew anything about what you were spouting about you wouldn't say rude half arsed comments about "Did they restructure the team?" Thats just rude and down right insulting to Developers that have been working pretty damn hard and tirelessly to take care of issues that players find and give us a public test server all with in the first month.
1. I aggree the pvp is crappy but its a PVE based game..you can't change pvp in a skill based game over night. Yea there's alot on the plate boo hoo on mindful reinforcement. They fixed the Content gap .. guess you have to be playing / reading patch notes to know that. Balance issues...hmm I dunno its about 10 times more balanced now then it was at Launch.
2. Really? The game ran pretty good, almost all the quests were in good working condition untila bout lvl 25 and everything you need to reach max level including the nemesis and unity system was there. Thats a hell of alot more than most games have at launch.
3. your the only one who is full of opinions that have no truth to them. If you compare this game to most of the games other than Lord of the Rings and WoW you'd see it was in pretty damn condition but like ALL mmos it could of used more time. But not every game company has billions of dollars to burn to attempt to "get it perfect" which is the way you act in every post. Please name 1 game that was perfect at launch and I'll concede. Considering I've played MMOS since UO .. well I can tell you .. you won't find anything that was ever perfect at launch. I don't believe CO was released 6 months early.

What can I say I think they have poor designers? I am not going to make excuses for Cryptic.
You really should look up what a game industry programmer does one of these days. Go to gamasutra and see what they look for when they hire programmers. At the bare minimum, they usually want Maya or 3dsMax experience. How do you think assets get exported from 3dsmax? Do you think game companies just use 3dsmax bare bones? No, they write their own exporter. So I bolded in red where you went wrong. So again yes, I think you dont have a clue how games are made. Even a good solid mod maker for SEcond Life / UT/ HL2 understands how great it is to learn how to program, model, and animate
Give me a break its not hard for a designer to go to the database and tweak the numbers. But I guess its too much to ask for Cryptic to play their own game and figure out why they have so many balance issues.
Defend them all you want but it will never change my mind they are horrid when it comes to balance.

Haha I'm no WoW fan but at launch it blew the covers off this game. Didnt hit any content gaps. Didn't have to worry bout my Class (Shaman) getting totally revamped within first few days.
Dont even bring up Guild Wars. At launch it was A+++ solid. Content complete with solid pvp/pve.
That's just two games off the top of my head.
I'm not going to make excuses for Cryptic. It's a buggy launch with a crapload of nerfs. Totally unacceptable.
And is it just me the zones seem a lot more empty now that st 30 free days is up

Dont even bring up Guild Wars. At launch it was A+++ solid. Content complete with solid pvp/pve. "solid PvE"... that's lolz right there. GW, even at launch, was a game focused on PvP. PvE was there to make people learn their class' abilities before they ever stepped foot into PvP. Hell, they even got rid of the need to PvE at all and allowed players to purchase and use skills for their PvP characters. And, the PvE was also solo-centric (ability to use Henchmen).
That's just two games off the top of my head. Which proved nothing.

I really thought after Vanguard, developers learned that a MMO never recovers from a premature start. Apparently we are doomed to see the same failures over and over.
EDIT:
Reading patch notes like this:
# Darkness: Life Drain: Healing has been balanced to be more in line with other maintain healing abilities
# Telekinesis: Ego Sprites: Slave Mentality advantage: Healing has been balanced to be in more in line with other healing advantages
"balanced to be in line" always means: NERFED. Still swinging the nerf bat. Sheesh, those guys from Cryptic didn't hear the BANG!

It's funny they rush to nerf things but they drag their feet when it comes to fixing exploits/broken_powers like Mindful Reinforcement and Swallowtail cut.
My observation of Cryptic has always been this-
If a power can be used to help a player level up faster than expected it gets the nerf axe fairly fast
But if the power is only broken to hurt the players, they do not rush to fix the power.

I see. So, your true colors show through. You hate the company and are so bitter that you think you need to spew your bile upon others for your own amusement. Regardless of the fact that majority of it is falsities, you attempt to spew more and more hate of Cryptic onto others. Yeah... sounds real mature to me. It may be your opinion, but when it is incessant, instigative, and spoken in a factual manner, then it is Trolling plain and simple. And, Trolling is a violation of this site's rules.
So, for anyone who's reading this... if you see any other posts by PatchDay claiming that any game of Cryptic's "sucks" or general bashing of any of Cryptic's games, remember this: "I've been saying Cryptic blows for years"... PatchDay hates the company rather than the games. And, his opinion should be taken as a grain of salt due to his bile-filled hatred of Cryptic.
All of these are things that should have been in the game at launch. Their beta testers and the people that played the first Month all told them about it but they refused to put them in. The first three fixes will have a very positive effect on grouping, something this game lacks severly.
In this day in age of MMO's you have a very small window (exp AFTER LAUNCH) to get it right. So you better fix you major problems in beta or quickly after launch. Expecially when you have another major MMO luanching soon after yours.
These are nice fixes but IMO they are to little to late, the game poplulation is already dropping at a dramatic rate. Most likely because people don't want to pay 15 bucks a month for a single player game...

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith

Not to mention the fact that you can really play through the game in a month.. oh well except for the holes the left in the creation of quests that require you to grind PQs to make xp so you can do more quests 3 levels above your level getting rewards you can't use for 3 levels... Ok I'm done with it I really can't do anything other then vent. I've very disappointed in the game and frankly just about every game release in the last year or two. But I'd say this one is the worst. Seems like game companies are doing less, testing less, and tossing games out that are smaller and more and more incomplete. The one exception being Aion but that isn't really a new release just a localized version of a game that has been out for awhile.
Anyway I'm gonna have to remove these forums from my list as I've canceled my acccount and really there isn't anything more I can say that I haven't already said.

Aion's launch didn't go very smoothly in the US either. Add the fact that it is already over ran with bots and you have a piss poor excuse for gms and devs that didn't see this coming.

What are you babbling about? You seem to to challenge what he is saying with the only counter argument that he does not know what he is talking about.
Im a SW developer (Enterprise Java) and what he says is correct. Things that may sound simple take time to design, implement and to test before you release it live. Being in a "complex multithreaded rendering engine" would most likely make it take longer time, especially since those are usually written in C/C++ which is often more time consuming than to write in a more high level language such as Java.
So he is (probably) correct, you are just flaming him for no reason.
My gaming blog
Yeah the content gap kinda blows, but its fixed now and has been for weeks. In their defense, if you actually found ALL the missions I don't think there ever was a real content gap. In fact every single person that has claimed otherwise, I looked up their character and found numerous missions that they missed, more than enough to span whatever gap they perceived. It sucks that there is so little room for missing missions, but they DO exist none the less.
Wait what?!? I had to do a double take on this one. First you have a perfectly reasonable complaint about CO and then this?
Have you played Aion past level 20? There are not enough quests available to level up on. Not three sentences ago you were complaining about a content gap in Champions. Aion has 1000 times the content gap as Champions. Talk about double standards!

No I haven't played Aion past lvl 20. I'm going based on what a friend in EQ2 who went to Aion is saying. Probably just a fanboi who can't tell reality from the rose colored glasses view.
I didn't like Aion mainly because of the forced PvP aspect of the game so I didn't get past my teens in the beta and basically decided the game wasn't for me.
So I'm sorry about the comparison. Aion where I played it did seem pretty good. Quests worked, interesting quests, characters I tested seemed to work well etc. Stuff I read on the forums doesn't show a lot of tweaking. There are people complaining about grinding though. But then again that might be by design. I guess we have to assume that is the case since the game has been out for awhile....

He said I had no clue about game development. He made an assumption about me and he was incorrect.
There is simply no excuse for a Launch day massive balance pass. This sort of thing is inexcusable for Console titles. But MMO developers tend to do this shit all the time and people keep making excuses for all these incomplete games being released lately
"Oh this game is a serious work of progress so it is ok for them to ignore all of their testers in BETA!"
Fact is us beta testers told Cryptic about Melee needing some work. We told them bout broken powers. We told them if they nerf xp rates there would be content gaps. We told them the Retcon system had some issues. We told them GROUPing was simply horrid
IT doesn't take a programmer to know something is amiss. Granted, I know alot about game industry than the average poster it appears but that doesn't matter. This game was released early and most any gamer with sense can perceive that. That's my point and it is simple like 1-2-3

Forced Questing really stinks tho. I much rather get a good group of people today and hit a dungeon for XP or hunt down a boss or just pvp. Aion is really more of my cup of tea but for now I've returned to eve online. The content I saw seemed polished and well done. And it seemed they gave balance a lot of thought as well as pvp features. I did not feel things were just tossed in w/o given proper effort.
CO really has fairly decent PVE but seriously linear. On my alts I've had to repeat the same quests. Additionally, I still consider this game has content gaps. When I am forced to do missions above my level thats a gap. There should always be plenty of content around your level.
I see that now they are finally including grouping features like we had in City of Heroes. This game was released so early
We had that feature in city of heroes for years and years. We always took the excellent LFG tools for granted. The sidekick tools was excellent. And the ability to share any mission was just cake. And you always saw missions you never saw before. Granted, the dungeons / instances were just re-tiled. That was lame. But at least they had lots of different storylines and the newspaper on Villian side was a nice touch
I think CO could become something special once granted a Villain side. But I must say I really would like to see someone else make a superhero MMO besides Cryptic. I really think a game that includes villains at launch will have much better balance yo. If the balance for PVP first like EVE Online I think the pve side of things will come more easily
Right now, CO feels unbalanced in both I must say (pve/pvp)

So different are perspectives... Forced Questing... that term feels to me as ridiculous as Forced Eating or Forced Breathing. I go to MMOs to do quests. Sure, quests can be good or bad, but just for mindless kill kill kill I don't need a AAA MMORPG when any cheap Asian grinder would do. *shrug*
Its like these phantomic "Forced Grouping" debates. I understand sometimes you want to solo for relaxation, but a MMO has to make people do something together, that is the essence of a MMORPG, or sorry to say go back and play single player games. I really don't mean this evil, but doing quests and doing things together is and should be the essence of a MMORPG. There can be solo stuff and there can be non quest stuff, but if you dont "force" people to quest as groups everyone runs around alone in the end. It just does not work when you leave those things to decide. I mean, you don't play chess and not force the piece movements. Every game consists of great restrictions, thats what makes them fun.
