Mature player base, and no apparent gold farmers. I was in a beginning city..(embro something) and hit an invisible wall riding my mount. People were up on this invisible platform. I was also able to walk up onto it. No idea what it was. People rode past me on invisible mounts. I rubberbanded quite a few times.
And finally...there was plenty of chat in the Help channel, but not ONE player would say hi back to me in local chat which included a chat bubble.
Everyone was in a hurry to level up. Tell me; is socializing and being friendly a bygone part of an mmo?
Not the game for me. This is my 2nd 50 dollar game to be taken off my system in less than 4 days.
I'd hate to return to WoW and deal with the immaturity just to find people to talk and group with.

eldest playerbase of any mmo and no level grinding
ventrillo and T/S usage is commonplace in squads and non-squads alike as both allied and axis have their 'side' voice chat servers
the graphic issue sounds more like system hardware problems. rubberband is lag based generally. so on that end its more your pc not FE that caused it but for argument sake id say its 50/50.
as for socializing.. meh.. thats sort of died its rare to even have it in a FPS game let alone a mmo anymore. i wouldnt really fault FE for that tho, as the norm now days everyone wants end game levels so they grind for months. talking on to their guild they tend to snub most new people or just random people around them.
i personally wouldnt let it get to you, if you want to socialize you could try to get other people to join the game with you or keep trying to find people to talk to. generally it works .... most of the time..
Can I have your account and key =P
No, it sounds like an issue with your video card- If this was your issue I think you should check their Forums (I heard ther are fixes for things like this)
I am patiently waiting for either the trial or the cash to buy the game- I am BROKE this week but of all the games- FE is the ONLY one I would risk $50 on.
No hardware probs here. I am running core 2 duo (oc'd to 3.5ghz) 4 gigs ram dual 9800gt vid cards and over 1/2 terrabyte in storage @ 7200 rpm with 16mg buffer, and one 250gig hdd with 16mg buffer @ 10,000 rpm. Try again.

Well, a pity you didn't enjoy it, but I guess everyone has different preferences.
Invisible walls and invisible mounts? Playing the game for two weeks... and I really never saw either. Maybe something wrong with your graphics drivers? No idea. I also had no rubberbanding issues, and I play from Germany while the server is located in USA. Rarely I see a rubberbanding mob, but me myself? Didn't happen so far. Maybe you had some stuff uploading or downloading in the background? Though I can even play fine when I upload stuff to youtube.
And local chat...
I can only talk about me, but most of the time I wouldn't notice someone saying anything in the local chat. Why? Well, when I'm in combat, then I focus on that. When I'm not in combat, then I pay 90% of the time attention to some windows. I go through my stats wonder where to put AP in next, I rummage through my inventory or the trunk of my ATV, I read through the crafting recipes I know looking for things to craft next etc.
So most of the time, I wouldn't notice it if someone would be standing next to me writing something in local. I personally think that if something important is up, someone will message me, and then I will notice it. Or later on, once I join a guild, then I'll watch that chat of course. But for now? I simply don't pay attention to local.
Most of the time I have a chat tab called "solo" up, that informs me about combat, experience gain etc. When I have some attention to spare, I look at the region chat, auction or help channels. But local?
> Everyone was in a hurry to level up. Tell me; is socializing and being friendly a bygone part of an mmo?
Of course some people hurry to level up. But I met lots of people who take their time. I play the game since two weeks, I'm lvl 18 of 45, and I still wouldn't notice it if you'd write something in local chat. I keep socializing for the times when I notice people are on the same quests and teaming might make sense, or when I want to go into a dungeon. And later on probably also once I join a guild, though I want to do that after I joined a faction.
I guess if you'd want to socialize a lot, you'd have to join a guild.
> Not the game for me. This is my 2nd 50 dollar game to be taken off my system in less than 4 days.
I actually paid just 35$ or so. ^^ Sorry to hear that you disliked it, I'm having lots of fun in the game. But everyone to his own.
I'm kinda surprised though that you spend 50$ on a game and then don't even play it for an hour. You really must have lots of money to spend if you don't even try to get the stuff fixed (ie talking to a GM or checking out the forums or something).

umm invisible walls and missing textures are generally PC related, as well i dont really think your storage or speed of hdd is really important. as they only deal with processing of information and loading speeds.. not really sure why you felt the need to post all the above lol.
i played the alpha of FE which were set to high end requirements so it killed my system, but im pretty sure there are fixes on their forum/website for most graphic related issues as i recall i heard they had some issues with nvid cards so maybe pop over and check their help section.
tho fyi.. a core 2 duo sucks @$$.... better off with a core 2 duel instead... but to each their own.. im quite happy with my quad core lol
Sounds like you have a nice Machine- If you cannot run it I CERTAINLY CANNOT either. Damn these companies with their new fangled graphics, lol.
Well, thats why a trial is very important to me- To see if the game will run. I have a crappy video card, 2 gigs of Ram etc (very average system) BUT LOTRO runs great in DX10 and AOC wont run for shit in DX9- Its confusing but thats why I like to try before buying.
You realize that out of your quad cores, most of the work is assigned one core?
And AGAIN...I have 2 cards in sli mode, each with 1gig ram on them. 9800gt cards. I'm also on 8mbps cable. I DO have a Core 2 duo. it's oc'd and very capable of handling that game. Please stop with the personal attacks on my hardware. I never asked about yours....but thank you for YOUR info.
I just listed the odd things I found in the game. Not a personal attack on you. I tried min graphic setting to make sure that wasn't the issue. Please try to be grown up about things.
Thanks.

I really wish some of these smaller studios would come out with lower price points. Both Fallen Earth and Alganon have some great ideas and have the possibility to be great games, but with the jaded mmorpg crowd that war and aoc have created few of us are willing to spend 50.00 on a game from a well known company much less a company that is starting up.
If these indy companies would release at 20 or 30 dollar price points and have 10 dollar monthly fees they would get a significantly large player base willing to try them out.
For the "oh this never happens" crowd...

One man, a small pile of money, and the screwball idea of a DIY Indie MMORPG? Yep, that's him. ~sigh~
I went through the tutorials and then had a quest given to me about being a clone dying. I had to go there (Embry) to talk to someone in a cloning facility) it was underground. Then I had a quest to go to South Burb. I found the whole thing really confusing.

Sorry to hear about your problems! I have to agree about the 'local' chat stuff. I've honestly never had a game where people payed attention there much, aside from WoW and then LotRO (but then, it really only happened in RP spots for me). Still, the game is fairly fun and at least something mildly different for a change... Mutants and psycho 'buddhists' with katanas = win?

Yeah the quest is weird that sends you there. That is why, when I got the quest, I checked the map, and thought "damn, that's far away. Also, the quest says lvl 5, so I have a second reason to stay here first, and so some quests in this area", and that's what I did.
I think it's actually confusing that you spend an hour to discuss here the game instead of spending an hour trying to fix it.
And about the people saying it costs 50$... buy the digital version, it costs only 35$. Cheaper than that would be really odd for a game that was just released.
Sure, the game has some bugs. All MMORPGs have bugs. Especially those that are newly released. If you encounter bugs, you can either stop playng, trying to ignore them, or try to find out if it's something with your system and fix it.
When I buy an MMORPG (or any game in general) myself, then I first do some research on the game, and obviously decided that I will most likely enjoy this game. Of course, when I then notice the game doesn't work as expected, I am disappointed. But the expectations I have also work as some kind of fuel, motivating me to try to get the game working the way I want it to. Depending on the severity of the bugs that also includes checking the official forums, mailing the support or asking a gm.
I had some issues too when I first got the game, including constant crashes. Now it works. And as my computer just finished doing some other work, I'll now play some FE. See you there? Well, maybe not. *shrugs*

you really need to grow up you're self. i was not attacking you or you're hardware, i only stated from poking around forums and talking to people, FE may have an issue with nvidia cards (does not matter how many you have if the game has a driver related issue it will effect your card(s) as well) i know full well about quad cores, the tech i talked to while building it liked to point out that PoV as well, but thankyou for reminding me..
again, as i have said. generally it sounds like a hardware issue, so you're best bet is to check the FE offical forums for possible fixes, im sure if other people have the same issue there will be some hotfix for it, if not you have a new cup coaster i guess..
as for my core comment, over clocking a duo doesnt change the cpu just the speed. a core 2 duel is a newer version of duo so it is infact better then a duo occ or not. which is why i said you're better off with a duel over a duo.. but w/e i have tried to help you fix you're computer issue. what you do with that info is you're choice.
Sorry for your misfortune. I have a Core 2 Duo 2.4, two 9800 GTX+ (512mb each) in SLI (though I started FE with only a single 9600 GT), a single 150 GB WD Raptor 10,000RPM on a Fios connection and haven't experienced what you are with invisible walls and such. But then again I'm close to Dallas and you are most likely in BFE IA. I imagine there are a few hops after the lines your ISP owns that aren't 8Mbps cable (having done tech support for a cable ISP I'm personally not a fan of them, especially for gaming; but that's just my opinion and I surely don't expect anyone on a forum to make changes on my opinion) between you and NC that may be causing your issue.
Oh, and with respect to chat, most people talk in Region chat and not local. Especially in towns. The only times I've experienced local chat was out in the wilds.
Lastly, Embry Crossroads is a "known" challenge in the game with respect to lagging. For many people their performance has inmproved while in that town. But if you have all the latest drivers for your hardware and aren't running other programs while playing...*shrug* well, that sucks.

i have put a week under the game and have had non of the issues you have..i agree it does sound like a possible driver issue.obvoiusly a draw issue.i have seen alittle rubber banding here and there but you make it sound like thats all you saw in the huge amount of time you put into it....(45 minutes if i read right)if you rage quite after such a short amount of time maybe mmos just arent for you.this game does have its flaws as do every single mmo coming out of the gate..but it is a fantastic game.and coming in here and jumping on it because you had technical issues and rage quit after 45 minutes is kinda silly.
Sorry to hear about the issues you had with running FE - the game does kinda require you to play for a while to really get into it - but I can see that with rubberbanding and invisibility issues, that's not really all that enjoyable.
I've stated in other threads that I'm not quite sure why people are having these issues, and I'll gladly do that again - I have a computer running a bit below minimum specs (but with a decent graphics card), and I have no issues most of the time.
However, I have had underground/indoor areas be unavailable to me a couple of times because they were invisible/disappeared. There are fixes for this though - if you only experience it periodically, then a full client restart usually does the trick.
Rubberbanding usually happens when your client for some reason gets out of sync with the server - this seems to happen occasionally to people, no matter where in the world they're playing from - there is a command, /timesync , that can fix the problem and if it doesn't, then usually a relog, or client restart will help alleviate this problem as well.
If problems are persistent (and this is info gathered from research rather than personal experience), then the problem usually lies with the drivers somewhere. The game can be a bit finicky about those still. The tech support forums are usually good for providing info and possible fixes.

I'm sorry to hear that you experienced some problems with FE. I have been playing for a couple days now and really haven't had any of the problems that you described. The only thing I can think of is mebe the server was getting rdy to crash or in need of a re-start...?

Well, considering you stated you only tried it for 45 mins and then uninstalled and that now you are on a forum posting only the negatives (and adding in the little discourse between you and Ichmen), that's probably where he/she thought you rage/quit.
I didn't get that, though. I just got that you didn't play the game long enough to give it an actual shot. You lucked out and decided to ride right into the worst area of the game at current ( Yep, no other towns are like EC with respect to performance; it's alot better everywhere else in S1) . That and 45 mins is hardly enough time to get a taste of the social side. Most people in the area you were in are still trying to figure out the game's intricacies, not hawking the chat screen, lol.
So, yeah. I'm not saying FE is perfect. Anyone with half a brain knows that. But the game does deserve more than 45 minutes /unistall to actually get an informed overview of the world and those folks in it.
peace.

It looks to me that OP is not ready to give up on WoW just yet.
It looks to me like he is just trying to find cons of the new games he is trying just to validate his return to the game he is addicted to.
It's cool,I get it, I understand the symptoms and it's all good, until you come to my favorite game`s forum and start to spread pure lies.
There are some bad and negative things about FE just like there are many problems with every new MMO outhere until it gets stabilized and optimized but invisible walls is not one of them sorry.
Actualy the non-presents of the invisible walls is a big pro for this game.
It's an huge open seamless realistic world with no restrictive invisible walls you see in other games, even on the highest mountains.
Of course you cant climb the steepest hills and rocks but so much of the map is free to explore it's crazy.
Only place I've seen invisible walls so far is around very small pool of water in sector 1 and that's understandable because there are no swim mechanics in this game and obv devs dont want you to go into water.
No big deal and this is only few pixels out of huge map.
So just go back to WOW really, it's obvious you cant let go of it and it' s ok, most of us prolly dont want you in FE anyway, you sound like a whiny and negative type of gamer.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
Hey OP, I say you should try to get whatever technical issues you were having resolved and give the game a second try. I mean you did pay $50 for it, perhaps it was just a bad first impression. Otherwise mind letting me play your account? Im waiting until next week for the trial keys before buying but if you are absolutely set on not wanting to play... =p
This preformance issue is not just her computer.
I played FE from early alpha to the end of beta. FE has major issues with it's graphic engine.
It sucks WAY too much CPU for how it looks. My comp runs Age of Conan on mostly all max settings (dx9) and FE ran at about 10 fps, with major lag. Every other MMO I played from LOTRO, War, EVE, Galaxies, AOC, COH never gave me a issue like this, and as for my connection I run at about 10mbs with a latency of about 30-60.
FE needs major streamlining of it's graphic engine.
Unless you have a super uber system do NOT buy this until you can try for free.
PS this game does not look nearly good enough to warrant the CPU load it gives.
