It sucks WAY too much CPU for how it looks. My comp runs Age of Conan on mostly all max settings (dx9) and FE ran at about 10 fps, with major lag. Every other MMO I played from LOTRO, War, EVE, Galaxies, AOC, COH never gave me a issue like this, and as for my connection I run at about 10mbs with a latency of about 30-60.
FE needs major streamlining of it's graphic engine

I had some major performance issues in alpha/cb as well and there are tons of lag issues being mentioned on the forums.

It sounds like the lag is what made the OP quit.  Rubberbanding, sync issues and possibly their chat input being heavily affected by the lag.

And finally...there was plenty of chat in the Help channel, but not ONE player would say hi back to me in local chat which included a chat bubble.
Why should they? Use general chat or PM someone if you want to talk. This isn't an RP heavy game from what I understand thus most people won't talk in say/local chat.

You actually paid for it? lol, welcome to Indie MMOs, where you don't always get what you pay for. Nothing like a nice kick in the pants to get you started.

As for the social aspect, yeah people aren't as social these days in spacial chat , not since SWG have I actually ran across people worth talking to. Maybe everyone just assumes no one will talk to them and that's why it feels like Silent Bob world.

The thing that leapt out at me is that the offending PC is using SLI mode. I have noticed when reading the FE forums that people using SLI mode tend to get more problems than people running a simple, single card configuration. In my opinion, you're better off running a single latest generation card than two older ones. I'm running a NVidia GTX 260 which is a mid range card and I get no problems at all.

As for chat in local, that's not really used in any games I've played for years now. Probably SWG about 5 years ago was the last time I used it with any regularity. If someone was to say "Hi" in local chat, it's very unlikely anyone would notice it in a crowded area. If people need to converse with another player, it's done with /tells on the whole.

OP patience is a virtue.  If you're having in game graphic errors and you know it couldn't possibly be on your side, then restart the game completely.  Yes, I have had instances not load for me or the occasional loop from changing areas, but realize this isn't a high budget developer and the community/GM's are great in response to questions and concerns.  Furthermore, they're actively patching errors and bugs as they roll in.  This game is the best MMO on the market.

Hi Piivot, I know what you mean about several of your points and believe me, most of these are situational. There are times no one talked or answered me. However, there are several times people came up to me and started to chat. I actually found the chat system to be somewhat awkward and clumsy and accidentally sent out mt's to channels that I didn't even have turned on. (Yes, if you are set to speak in Help - but turned off the help chatter - you will speak to the help channel that you cannot see.)

I also think that almost ALL games are going to have the hurry up to end game. The only exception I have seen to this is EVE simply because the real-life skill training time prohibits someone from rushing to any end game. I wish more MMOs took the EVE skill system approach as it would promote more enjoyment rather than grind in the sandbox.

I also had graphical issues. Mostly with textures flickering a problem that they announced that they supposedly fixed, but did not - even back during the beta. My card itself is a 9600GT and was causing some random reboots on my system since I installed it. So, after doing the tech support walk through for eVGA, they are going to do an RMA. In the mean time I through in my spare 7800GT. Oddly enough, the texture flickering went away. I don't think this is because of the defective card - I believe it's because of issues with the 9600/9800.  I also was curious, you said you had dual 9800s - if you are running SLI, you could try disabling SLI as it usually causes more problems than performance increase in MMOs. I would suggest that you try it again after a few months of more bugs have been fixed. BUT - don't set up a subscription. Instead, contact support via email and explain to them in a calm manner why you only played for a short amount of time and ask them to give you a 30-day period attached to your account to try it out again. It's a small company - they will probably listen, but only if you don't offend anyone.

About the rubberbanding - although it could be your network set up - the chances are slim. It's either your internet connection, anywhere between your internet connection and the server or the server itself. I would recommend not trying out any new MMO on "prime time" if you ever see yourself rubberbanding. More than likely - it's a server issue that will be corrected in time. But - leaves a bad taste in your mouth if your trying it out for the first time.

Myself, I am not sure if I want to continue with the game. Not for any of the above reasons, but because as "cool" as the crafting system is - it's rather pointless. Everyone can craft and even create a specialized crafting alt and the economy isn't player driven. I know this isn't Fallout 3 and I wasn't expecting Fallout 3. But, I didn't expect the economy to be an unlimited amount of materials and resources on the NPCs. I expected it to be like a post apocolyptic setting. If an NPC runs out of something - they don't have any for a while or until a player sells that resource. It would also allow players to make a profession out of trading and hauling materials from town to town. This was a major let down and will prove to have a completely worthless economy simular to WoW at the end game. Yes, they may change that - but, it's such an integral part of game play that it's already too late.

The solo combat perspective, I found it about as much fun as Fallout. So, for me, I'll save the $15/month and just play the xbox.

The group combat perspective, I have no idea - but, I am sick of leveling characters in different games just to see if I will be dissappointed or not at the "end game".

OP, I too had a similar experience when first starting the game.  I am also equiped with an nvidia card and quad, etc.  I fell through the world a couple feet and saw people running around while i was stuck.  Come to think of it, it may be an issue with the transition from the tutorial to the actual game.  Because i have yet to see that fall-thought-the-world/invisible wall since. Hmm.  This is a game that you have to spend some time on to really start enjoying it.  The game does not ease the player into the game very well, even for experienced players, which is unfortunate.

However, i encourage you, i charge you, i challenge you to retry the game again.  Spend a week of your gaming hours on it.  You already spent $50 of your hard earned cash on it.  You might as well get a feel for the game.  The initial frustrations from your first impression will slowly fade, i believe.

I agree  Embry Crossroads is a lag fest, but what in the world were you doing there with a fresh level 2 character?

I assume you just got on your mount and went exploring from the get go. There isn't anything wrong in that, but out of all

the towns you choose Embry.. LOL!

Sorry, but if I was new to the game like you and that was my 2nd town to visit in Fallen Earth, I would probably quit too.

I avoid Embry during busy hours and find another town to do missions in. I witnessed rubberbanding as well in Embry

and have seen people on invisible mounts there  (in populated areas).

The Chat channel for -HELP- is a roll of the dice since there is a lot of chatting going on, the Region chat is a bit more civilized.

Its unfortunate you had a bad experience there, but I wouldn't write off the game yet Pilvot and there is a great amount of players

that do RP in FE, at least when I am playing.

Good luck in your gaming endeavors and hope to see you in FE sometime in the future, if you give it another chance.

Which shows just how little you actually know about hardware. Rubberbanding would be lag. Haven't experienced any but from what I hear the more populated towns have it. *shrug* It's a problem I'll give you that.

I don't know where you got the idea people are looking to "level quickly" as the game really doesn't even remotely fit that style of play. Personally, I've had no problem with the community thus far.

I have a 295 GTX was having the same issue, untill I was told in forums to go into NVIDIA control panel and select MAXIMUM PRE-RENDERED FRAMES from 3 to 1, and allot of issues just vanished, also I then set NVIDIA control panel to override FE settings and set to control panel to quailty, relaunched game on max settings and looks fantastic and runs alot faster.

It's cool,I get it, I understand the symptoms and it's all good, until you come to my favorite game`s forum and start to spread pure lies.
There are some bad and negative things about FE just like there are many problems with every new MMO outhere until it gets stabilized and optimized but invisible walls is not one of them sorry.
Actualy the non-presents of the invisible walls is a big pro for this game.
It's an huge open seamless realistic world with no restrictive invisible walls you see in other games, even on the highest mountains.
Of course you cant climb the steepest hills and rocks but so much of the map is free to explore it's crazy.
Only place I've seen invisible walls so far is around very small pool of water in sector 1  and that's understandable because there are no swim mechanics in this game and obv devs dont want you to go into water.
No big deal and this is only few pixels out of huge map.

So just go back to WOW really, it's obvious you cant let go of it and it' s ok, most of us prolly dont want you in FE anyway, you sound like a whiny and negative type of gamer.

Funny how I don't know you, you don't know me, and yet you've decided to belittle and flame me.

    I never mentioned your name.

I was speaking about things of the game I recently tried.  I never said I DIDN"T like WoW.  After all, a FORUM is for DISCUSSING isn't it?  I was merely stating what I saw and why I uninstalled the game.  Whining is complaining about the color of armor or some other paltry tidbit.

I do like WoW.  That doesnt' give you the right for a flaming attack, does it? I just dislike the immature player base.  They belittle you and flame you at ever turn.  Not even knowing you.  (See a pattern?)

Please stop with the personal attacks, and discuss the topic.

you really need to grow up you're self. i was not attacking you or you're hardware, i only stated from poking around forums and talking to people, FE may have an issue with nvidia cards (does not matter how many you have if the game has a driver related issue it will effect your card(s) as well)  i know full well about quad cores, the tech i talked to while building it liked to point out that PoV as well, but thankyou for reminding me..

again, as i have said. generally it sounds like a hardware issue, so you're best bet is to check the FE offical forums for possible fixes, im sure if other people have the same issue there will be some hotfix for it, if not you have a new cup coaster i guess..

as for my core comment, over clocking a duo doesnt change the cpu just the speed. a core 2 duel is a newer version of duo so it is infact better then a duo occ or not. which is why i said you're better off with a duel over a duo.. but w/e i have tried to help you fix you're computer issue. what you do with that info is you're choice.

I agree with Ichman. You're taking his advice personal, and in a negative way. Besides, you already quit the game, why bother making a post just to say you quit? BTW, he's right, there's a 90% chance that all it is are drivers or one of your video cards is getting in the way of he other.

A major problem for me and my wife for performance was the shadows. They look like crap anyway, and turning them off reduced the graphical problems and graphical lag by a LOT. I usually get an invisible mount or wall for a small while before it has loaded for the first time, and then it is fine from then on. It is just not loading in.

It's not easy or enjoyable to play a game that isn't working properly from the start. Why force yourself?

I was in FE's alpha and beta and decided to skip the release versio since they couldn't hammer out these graphical issues OP is having. I encountered this problem too, when sometimes some graphics didn't load properly (Sometimes I had buildings and characters with a mix of high and low textures which really looked awkward.) - or didn't load at all (like invisible stuff, barrels, doors, walls, missing heads etc.)

Invisible horses, check, had also a problem in Embry where the sky sometimes suddenly turned into bright purplish blue. I knew that the client is about to crash in 1 minute. Even bugging these issues for 1,5 years didn't solve the problem, so don't get hostile protecting you favorite game, it's good but not perfect. People DO have some issues with it and the problems do exist.

Don't get me wrong, I really did like FE but it really wasn't in the state where I could enjoy the game without having to face these small annoyances.

Piivot, I know you are nerd enough to have tested the game with latests graphics drivers etc. so I'm not even going to give you any technical or hardware tips. The game seems to favor some systems more than others. Just put the game back into shelf and get back to it every now and then. I'm sure they'll get the graphics stuff fixed eventually. It's a good game after all, it deserves another try. :)

That actually sounds like memory problems. Due to either leaking, or lack of RAM. Happened in AoC way back as well.

LOL. You're just a step from calling me a fanboy, when I haven't even played the game and was making a comment about MMOs in general, not this game in particular.

I don't doubt that these are real issues, and certainly wouldn't assume ANY of them will definitely get fixed.

The point remains that 45 minutes is very skimpy testing for something you paid real money for. I give free trials more time than that.
