Look even a distinguish site like MMORPG.COM rated it as the best game ever released! Aion has taken the west by storm!

NCSoft produced a very polished, stable, and entertaining game that so far is a massive success. I'm not sure why ppl are so scared of Aions success, but I think it has something to do with the population drain Aion has had on their "game of choice". When you have a population as high as Aion, those players had to come from somewhere. Time will show weather NCSoft will retain those players, but so far Aion has had the most successful launch we have seen in years.

Aion isn't going to please the UO or Darkfall crowd, but for most of us its very entertaining. I don't want a game that feels like a job, I want to be entertained. Most of the complaints I see are with the "style" of game Aion is, a mainstream, themepark MMO. I personally would rather go to Disney World than play in the "sandbox" with the cat shit.

Could you please show one, just one (1) post where people write that they are scared? This whole "being scared" issue is a joke. Noone is scared. People either like the game, or they don't. They either play it, or they don't. They either stick with it, or they don't. Noone is scared about the success / failure of Aion, or any game for that matter. You know why? Because it's a game. The only people who might be scared are the developers / publishers / shareholders. But I doubt they post anything on these forums.

As for the Disney World / your feline's sandbox comment... wow... sarcasm at its finest (you do get the sarcasm, right?).

It's awesome... at first. Like I loved WAR at first, too. While Aion is heads over tails more complete than WAR, as the game goes on you may find (such as I did) that it gets sorta boring. I never felt it was grindey, it just couldn't hold my attention for whatever reason. Shame, Aion is a very polished game, maybe it's a personal taste thing.

Are you going to post that you're scared even if you were?  No because you don't want to sound like a whiney little girl.  That said, it's still fear of change.  People don't like it when something new comes in that threatens the game they have come to love or have put in a crap load of time investment into even if the game could be the greatest thing ever to hit the MMO scene.

You stating that either they like it or don't is pure naivete.  Everyone knows that haters exist and they love nothing more than to see something fail and they really love to help it fail.

You're not going to discount the fact that 90% of the reviews (probably a better percentage than that actually) give Aion some of the highest ratings a launching MMO has ever seen and then take the accompanying resentment as 100% true non biased opinion sorry.

I will ask again, could you please quote a post where someone is saying "hey, I'm scared that Aion will destroy the game I love"? Until then, you're opinion is just based on assumptions.

Seeing how the forums are full(!) of whining people about how much they hate a game, I'm sure scared people would whine just as easily.

Your judge of character is awesome! I'm naive because I believe that if people like a game they play it, if they don't like it they leave? Strange. I'd love to talk to people who don't like Aion and still play it (and no, I'm not bashing Aion, I'm just using it as an example, since we're talking about this game).

What I see is - people like the game, thus they play it; others don't like it, thus they leave it. It's not a naive way of looking at it, it's life.

Yeah, there are haters and fanboys. But that is not what I was talking about. If I remember correctly, I was talking about people either liking the game, or not liking it. Just because I like / dislike a game, does not make me a hater or a fanboy. I like LotRO, been playing it since beta. Am I a crazed fanboy? No. I know what could make the game better (from my point of view) and I realize its shortcomings. But I sitll like it, so I play it. I don't like, for example, Aion. Tried it, several characters, in the end decided that it wasn't for me. Am I a hater? No. I just believe in voicing my opinion. Not trying to force it on anyone (unlike some people who believe theirs is the only opinion that matters, even though Dirty Harry already made it clear: "Opinions are like ***holes, everybody has one").

As for fear of change? I'm sure the world has plenty of people who are afraid of change, who are afraid of what's around the corner, who consider their "property" (in this case the game they play) the best there is/was/will be, and who are in general very closed minded. However, from experience, the world is also full of open minded people, who welcome change, welcome challenge and do not spend their lives worrying, being scared.

As for your discounting paragraph... I have to ask you, where did I discount anything? Where did I say that the "professional", "unbiased" reviews did not count? Where did I say anything about the reviews? Where did I say that I put more empahsis on the bashers' opinions than on above mentioned reviews? Looks like you're opinion is (again!) based on (false) assumptions. Because not once did I say that the comments on these forums mean more to me than reviews. Or, prove me wrong. Quote me.

With that said, good luck in Aion, most of all, have fun as that is what this whole thing we call MMO's is supposed to be about, and don't hate the scared folks... there really aren't that many of them.

I totally agree the game is really awesome - our whole legion still loves it! I am now in the 40+ and just discovered the lovely made large Steel Rake instance. I didnt even know that Aion has such great and complex scripted PvE in this game too. The other instances at 25/30 are nice but wait for steel rake... awesome ^^

I think its normal that people are whining about Aion all over the place, it just shows that the game is talked about a lot. since most of the people who really like it are actually playing it (there is a reason why servers are still mostly full in their prime time) - I would not give much about their opinions.

Best thing would be that people try it out by themselves - all people I know of which tried the game were amazed till now... so its pretty sad to see how people are trying to bash the game with false informations, just because they didnt like it or are afraid it could be successful too...

So all in all awesome game, I never thought Koreans were able to put so much details, polish and love into this game, as blizzard did with its WoW...

    Currently playing: Archeage
    Waiting for: Black Desert

It's a little late for him/her "not" sounding like a "whiney little girl".
