pretty sure Aion was the most sucessful game for bots gold sellers and ebayers in the last years... at least the first month.. lets see who stays after 2nd November..
you haters are well served to keep pushing the date this game will fail back and back and back. At first it was, wait until the free month is up -- now its Nov 2nd. Whats the next date after that ?
Seriously, if this game will be succesfull. Yes, well it's for me! I love it and I am in lvl 30s... About people talking shit about it, I don't care but I don't understand the point of it. I never liked WoW but I never went into a WoW forums to mess up their stuffs... I just don't understand where's the point of doing that seriously...
I just gotta ask , have any of your people who complain about the over botted state of the game logged in the last week. Popular bot spots are turnin up ghost town. The bot arguement is starting to move in the same direction as the people who complain that the game is grind (as ease at it is to get xp doing anything at all it take no time to level). Just seems to be people hanging on their few arguements, whether they are being addressed or not.

The bots are still there. Although for some reason most are assassins now, instead of gladiators. Even saw a chanter the other day.
I think it's different, server to server. Some servers have more and some have less.
I agree with ya on that one OP, I am also tired of people comparing this game to WoW and saying " It's all the same " but if you really look at it, A standard MMO Is what we really need. In my opion, I think WoW is a great game, but when people put Aion down and compare it to others is'nt right, most MMOS today are standard, so why does Aion get the shaft from some of these people? Simple, because Aion is the top contender out today and people are enjoying it, also in other MMOS the server population is going down while Aions population is going up, does'nt take a math genius to figure that out.

As Aion population will go down when the next boring MMO hit the market.
So whats hardcore about it? U think grinding xp is hardcore? Get a bloody grip, its not hardcore at all. You have the /LOCATE function, says it all tbh. Biggest carebera function out of every mmo. All you need now is the big red circles from warhammer is ur in fairy land.
They actually do take into account free trials and inactive subscriptions. At least Blizzard does. Either way, I'll take Blizzard's numbers over third party estimates.
No they don't. It's current, active subscriptions.
I will give heartless this...Blizzards sources are better than the majority of games out there with regard to making estimates on their subscriptions. That being said, it's still an estimate just a better one but when your waist, shoulders, and heads above the competition it doesn't really mean much considering it hold the number #1 spot with the best sources when everyone else falls far below that with fewer or less sound sources from which to compare.
But when there is nothing else to go on and the standard is what it is, so long as the standard is the same for everyone in terms of the methodology around figuring out MMO subscriptions then that's the measurement we have to go on and anything else not on that same level of analytics is just guess work and opinion...and personally I'll take analytics.
How bout this...lets not rely on press releases or estimates or any of that other BS. Lets rely on what I see with my own eyes, such as 20 of my friends which comprised of a good portion of a legion have quit. How about a substantial number of people quitting due to the following reasons:
1. No motivation to log in
2. Better games coming out in November
3. End game doesn't work due to fortress siege crashes.
4. Tired of trying to accomplish certain quests because a majority of the mobs needs are all being farmed by bots
That being said, I agree, the game will have a decent healthy population (close to 200k). Why? Because at this point it probably is the best game of its type out right now (open world PvP). There are those who thought (probably still do) that Aion was the greatest thing ever and it's not. Anyone with half a brain saw quickly it wasn't designed to have mass appeal.
Before i even clicked on this topic to read it i said to myself i bet this is another positive post by someone with only a few post counts.Whats with all the bloody aion viral marketing going on with this website.

Really? It is casual, linear, themepark with lots of content and it has engaging PvP. Sounds like mass-appeal to me.
Problem is that mass-appeal does not give you WoW numbers but the game appeals to more people than say Lotr which only caters to PvE players. Aion caters to both PvE and PvP even though it is more focused on PvP.
I think the game will hover around 4-500k for a good while. The fact that it is nr 4 on XFire (second only to WoW) for the last 30+ days is an indication of that.
I think Aion is hardcore such that if you don't know how to effectivly play it you'll be forced into grinding before 40. I also believe a strong majority of players are terribly stupid. I also reconize a game plan that rewards the minority (the good) won't make for a popular game.
On a side note, if Aion is a failure i'd like to know what game other than WoW is a success in this genre.
Then there is the "/lolcate" feature which pretty much takes all of the thought, and the fun, out of questing.
You realize you don't HAVE to click that locate button right? Its there to help people who aren't a huge fan of questing.
If you don't like it - don't use it... its really simple. If this wasn't there you'd have an equal amount of people complaining theres no "quest helper" addon and they have too hard of a time finding quests...
Honestly - Aion could come from God and most people still would find something wrong/to complain about... moving along...
Out of the whole argument I presented, you picked the most superficial point to argue. Fine.
WoW's Quest Helper is a relatively new addon and I don't seem to remember anyone complaining that the quests were too hard to find before it was released because WoW's quest description does a good job of directing a player to the right spot even without a third party addon.
In Aion, the quests themselves are structured to utilize the "/lolcate" feature. There are a lot of quests with very weak directions which pretty much makes the function necessary.
By the way, there is a difference between criticism and complaining.
Cause, people used Thottbot;P thats why no one complained, it was out years before questhelper and carbonite and that.

First of all, the game is not casual. Casual to me is having the ability to only play a few hours a week and feel like you accomplished something. That's not the case with this game. Linear I agree with. And despite the designation PvPvE, this is a PvP game first. A PvP game by design does not have mass market appeal because a majority of players are not into non-consensual PvP.
Stop using Xfire numbers, they are not accurate. The fact that it lists Cabel and Silkroad Online as the top 5 MMO's invalidate the statistics.

Ok fine I stop using XFire and look at the servers. In EU there are what, 18 servers, and almost all of them are listed as full every weekend.
Now I dont know how they classify Full but if you assume that it means the server is packed then 18 servers at almost the limit, 1 month after release and that is JUST IN EUROPE. Is pretty damn good. Also the fact that the LFG channel is constantly spammed by people LFG is also another sign that the server is packed.
Now if they drop is another question but there is no sign of that yet.
And as for Aion being a PvP game I disagree. Its endgame is focused on PvP, yes, but there is tons of PvE in the game and most of it is well done.
Also, why is the game not casual? The death penalty is lenient, quests are abundant and easy to do and there are safe areas for PvP. So the only thing that may not be casual is the leveling past 30 but for being an Asia produced game that is nothing. Lineage 2s grind was much, Much worse.
Cracks me up that people who don't like Aion figure it will die in 6 months....Gear in Aion isnt easy to get like most other MMOs out there. And leveling isnt a cake walk, race to max level either. How do you all figure its going to die in 6months? Your all foolish! LOL
As long as NCsoft continues to update Aion and comes out with some good xpacks it will be around for along time with plenty of subscriptions. I agree that its not for everyone (too hard to level up for the average gamer) but for me its a blast. Most pugs I'm in say the same thing ingame... O.o
Seriously folks...lol If NCsoft delivers, Aion will be going strong for along time. Don't fool yourselves into thinking it will fail because you dont like it..because it makes no difference whether you do or not to the people ingame having fun. :-)
EDIT: You all fail at bashin a game simply because you dont like it. Find something better to do with your time! :-/

coming from an 81K activity on Xfire to -----> 42 K Xfire. Just look at that trend ! in the link above.
Number of Aion Xfire players came from a whopping 14K at first weekend to under 9K as well.
So the game is around 250K these days with a playing loss of around 50-60%.
The fact there are still 3x more AIon Xfire players than EVE Xfire players is just because Aion is oversampled on XFire.
So the trend in Real subs would be even more dramatic as Xfire is promoted and so the real figures will prbably be even more severe.
I now see it is even on sale with Xfire. So anyone buying it is installing Xfire as well.
So it is not even the second most played mmo these days. That place goes clearly to EVE again.
Seriously the 2 servers im playing on is full of life pretty much all the time i dont see any mass "quit" messages you guys keep trying to tell us. Is there people that quit ? of course no RPGMMO is for everyone but the people i know just have fun and enjoys the game for what it is. This site have become full of game bashers rather than full of game lovers that love to talk about there hobby and love for the genre, its become the same on other sites aswell ever sens MMOs became Mainstream and i hate it.

I play Aion, and don't use Xfire. So no, Aion is not oversampled. Xfire is a shitty tool to record player numbers, and even so, Aion is still the number 4 played game on Xfire, number 2 MMO. Same place it has been since it released. Even if Aion lost half it's people, which it didn't, people just started playing more casually now that it's been out a while, it still is the number 4 played game on your beloved Xfire.
Good for Aion, I do hope it does well, but it became to drawn out for me so I cancelled my account. I'll wait for some updates and hopefully some positive changes before I pop back in. Enjoy it guys!
Nezekan is owned by Asmodians. All our best Elyos legions are gone (along with the players). On the Elyos side bots equal the number of players. The game is so poorly run that I am cancelling my sub. I will not give money to people such as NCSoft ever again.

Highlighted the key phrase for you there. Since you don't know how they classify "Full" the word is utterly meaninless, it could represent 3K players per server since its in their best interest to make people believe that the game is full.
If they were really being honest, they'd just post the actual figure like DAOC used to do (and still does) and the fact they don't leads me to disbelieve such a measurement.
No doubt, Aion's doing pretty well, but I doubt its the runaway success the OP and others claim it to be.

Aion is a solid themepark game with nice gfx, lots of contents aswell as fun PvP. So there is no reason for why the game should not be succesful.
However innovative it is not...

Around 50% Xfire playings less in merely 4 weeks http://www.xfire.com/games/aion/Aion/
coming from an 81K activity on Xfire to -----> 42 K Xfire.
Well, i dont know whats the problem here actually.
After the free month is over both in america as in europe the game maintains the 4th place on XFire, the 2nd MMORPG below wow.
So, the objective for now is completed, Aion is indeed the 2nd most played MMORPG as of now. Time will tell where it will stand in 6 months

Even if Aion lost half it's people, which it didn't, people just started playing more casually now that it's been out a while, it still is the number 4 played game on your beloved Xfire.
lol xfire argument
Good for Aion, I do hope it does well, but it became to drawn out for me so I cancelled my account. I'll wait for some updates and hopefully some positive changes before I pop back in. Enjoy it guys!
Momo sucks, I have proof.
Nezekan is owned by Asmodians. All our best Elyos legions are gone (along with the players). On the Elyos side bots equal the number of players. The game is so poorly run that I am cancelling my sub. I will not give money to people such as NCSoft ever again.
kk - bye... thanks for sharing
