I have one observation towards the OP. Kinah is probably the most important resource for somebody that is on the levelling phase of the game. Skill books, gathering skills, crafting skills and wings are among the things that somebody will be spending a lot of kinah to advance. For those not careful enough, repurchasing their experience loss is also a considerable kinah drain. Transportation costs also add up, when people move around a lot.
Yes Death Penalty is a huge money sink so also is crafting
I nearly spent 1 miilion kinah just to get my weaponsmithing and armor smiting up to lvl 190 .Also at lv 25+ skills books are very expensive .
But due to botting and gold spammers the economy is going down the drain So actually in the long run i find it economical to craft my own items rather than buy it out from Auction house
It gets it's negativity because pre-launch the game (especially on this site) was hailed as the greatest thing ever, WoW killer and all that. Flying is so great and the PvP is out of this world.
There are those that enjoy proving those people wrong. Anyone with common sense knew what this game was about after open beta.
So I really hope people's stop lying to potential customers who finally want to try another MMO, by telling them wrong informations. Give them a chance and let them try the game by themselves - nearly ALL of my friends didnt regret it and still love the game, so I really wonder why some people made it to their prime hobby to convince them not to play Aion? But I am pretty sure its just because they are afraid to see Aion succeeding... ridiculous...
Its strange to read a truthful rational post on these forums. You sir will get flamed by the haters soon, but just let me say i agree with every word you said.
Lies? I don't recall reading anything untruthful about Aion posted on these forums. That's not to say that there hasn't been anything untruthful written about it... it's just that everything I've read so far has a foundation in truth.
Is it a lie to say that you can begin taking "deep water damage" when you've only waded into water up to your knees?
Is it a lie to say that you can jump from a high cliff to see if you can glide to the beautiful valley below, only to find out that there's an invisible wall between you and the valley, which turns out to be nothing more than painted-on scenery?
Is it a lie to say that, apart from the take-you-by-the-hand quests, there isn't really anything more to do in the game?
Is it a lie to say any of the above? No. Not a lie. Just barebones facts. Sometimes the truth hurts. The game, in my opinion, is a shadow of what it could have been. As it stands right now, it's a fun diversion for a few weeks. After that, it becomes a mindless grind.
I really wonder why so many in the MMORPG community think they need to bash a game mostly based on wrong assumptions! I knew already this would happen... because yeah the game is from NCSoft, and its from Korea - and thus it will be viewed very sceptical. Actually thats a good thing, because that reduced the amount of hype the game generated... and thats also why I think this game will grow even more over time, instead of the large initials drops we saw in many other overhyped MMOs. We all know Korea will have a hard time successeding here... but its also the first time they made a totally polished, highly detailed new MMO with super smooth graphics... full of lovely details in every area (gestures, NPC idle animations, char creation, see steel rake instances, some of the areas backgrounds etc.....)... ! So many people were totally surprised on how well Aion runs. That leads us to one of the biggest problem in todays MMOs -> Bots
Yes the game has bots - which game doesnt have them? But its NCsoft, so we know from L2, they will not ban them - even though Aion has nothing to do with L2.... Actually I dont know why people are telling lies about the game... but you dont need to buy Kinah for anything - this game is NOT l2 - we have bound items, we have quest rewards, we have abyss gear which you can only aquire via abyss points - there isnt more need for Kinah than you needed in WoW at the beginning.... Also if people would read the blogs of the devs, then you would see that they are working on GM 24/7 support and that they are already banning more and more bots . Surely they are still under staffed because of the underestimation of the games success. But I am very sure that it will getting better over time (at least be patient and give them time they need)... Most people like me rarely encounter bots anyway, because if you do instances, abyss, group quests in elite areas you will never encounter a bot. The seconds thing I read is that some say its a grind in every place... which is so wrong again. Just because its not WoW where you get everything feeded into your mouth (bless god). In Aion crafting etc. actually means something. It needs dedication yes, but on the other side the items you can craft can be as valuable as the highest instance drops etc. ! Oh and I for one never needed to grind 1 bit (I am 42 now) - there are so many group missions and quests especially in elite areas etc. - surely if you play solo and run out of quests you have to grind to get higher - well I dont mind that, the game is a MMO not a solo game. There is really enough to do to mostly avoid grinding. But yes if you want max level in a week and best gear in another week, then please go back where you came from, but dont bash the game for being a grinder, just because there are so many things to work for.
It's a great game if you buy your 15 last levels... Come on, who on earth would be glad to waste like 400h to get from 40 to 50? You can't be seriously thinking that it is ok if you are working. It would take me a year to get to 50. A year with that little content and fun? No way... And I'm no hater. The lack of content, fun and loots make 40 to 50 horribly long and painful. The less fun the game is, the more people are botting. The more people bot and the less pvp and group you can find.

The reason this game generaates so much hate, is because it was put on this real high pedistal, and those of use who played the CB and OB were excited only to learn that a few levels later, the game changes drastically in terms of economics. Not to mention all the bots and gold sellers, and how activly they are working on that, if you say they are, go suck an egg, and explain why I saw the same three bots in the same area the last three days I played, and why so many other people say they have seen the same thing.
And to the argument about how they are still understaffed cause they "didn't realize the games success" did you ever go to the website? They bragged constantly about the amount of presales. They had a good idea.
angry rant aside, the higher you set yourself up, the farther you can fall, Aion fell a long long long way, and it was suppose to have wings.
Sadly i;m stilling palying this game because i have a game card and want to make the most of my $$$. Am a 41 Chanter atm and see bots bots bots more bots all day long every where. The game will crash everytime in a fotress raid because NC can not fix it. They have done nothing to stop any of the gold farmers / bots / crashes in the game. To me this will be the last NC game i play. Even when GW2 comes out which looks good knowing NC has anything to do with i might make a bot program just to lvl. Everyone knows NC will stop the bots. So why not make one )
Played Aoc/DDO/FFXI/WAR / LoTRo / CO / Aion Playing Rift
Waiting for FFXIV to be the game it should. so sad =(
The problem with many of the negative comments posted here and on other forums is that there is almost a religous ferver about them as if the posters feel that they are on a mission from God to save the infidels from the evil software developers and that the issue isn't that the game is simply not perfect but that it is truly evil and that anyone who plays it is either stupid or the spawn of Satan.
It works both ways. There's certain fans of Aion (Hi SP) that promote the game with an almost religious fervor as if somehow what they say is necessary to the game's greater success.
I view threads such as these as an open invitation to post negative comments, if not outright bash Aion and see little reason for them unless of course, you enjoy a good verbal brawl. (many of us do)

Well... its not 400 hours - its only about 300 hours to go from 1-50...
40-50 is closer to 200 hours... and yes, its a long time ... but they are increasing XP from all quests from 35-50. So it'll make quite a bit of difference...
Yes the game has bots - which game doesnt have them?
Never saw a bot in EQ2, pre-cu SWG, CoH, CoV, etc.
Only successful games attract bots, not the shit you posted.
No point in using bots and selling gold in a game with a few subs.
Only MMO I can think of that attracts bots/gold sellers and is better than EQ2 is EVE. I don't understand your post. ROSE, SRO, RO, and so many others are awful games with a lot of gold sellers/bots, ROSE isn't even heavily populated.

If you want to post about this or any other game and feel it isn't a good game then do so and tell us why just don't repeat the "This game sucks" line as that is really only telling us something about the poster and nothing about the game.
what you are saying is rational and well thought out - therefore it has a very low chance of getting a reply
