According to Xfire, more than 50% of those players using Xfire stopped playing. On the first top weekend it had 14.5K Xfire players, now on this weekend it is around 7.2/7.3 K players. Playing time has decreased with 60%. Still the playing time of Xfire Aion during the week is ABSURD. More than 6 hours on line average per person, which clearly shows the 24/7 gold sellers are using it to log in. If you watch the server activity and when I speak to friends of me loggin in one sees the game is no longer taxing the 14NA/18EU servers. It is held up artificially on Xfire by those "extra" people logging in and the fact it is now sold by NCSoft through Xfire; which simply means ... it can no longer be compared with the popularity of games which don't have that "support". My prediction of 150K subs max in January is right on spot>. Probably NCsoft will never admit it, so some servers will be empty and just stay that way without being merged.
When will people get it into their heads that most people don't use xfire but teamspeak or ventrillo lol
You can't base your info on xfire stats
When will you get it into your head that you should think before you type.We know not all players use xfire, O.K.? But, xfire gives a basis for player trends. For example, when CNN or NBC starts a poll to evaluate the president, they know they will not get all 330 million+ Americans to vote, but the votes they do receive will give them a rough idea of what the American population thinks of el presidente.
And from what you are saying, when xfire players stop playing a game and the numbers decrease of the mentioned game, it indicates nothing?
How about WoW. WoW has been the number one played game on xfire for so long, I can't remember the last game the was number one before it. Do we hear or read any reports of WoW's population falling tremendously? No. Does Xfire reflect that? Yes. Now say that we do hear players leaving WoW and they are doing so in large waves, and we see xfire numbers dipping, we can't assume that it's true?
Xfire just gives a rough estimation, not an exact number. +-
There is not enough people on there to give an actual trend, sure if there was more then yes but you can't go by 15k players on xfire and get a proper estimation. Any normal person would understand that.
Actually, thats how sampling works.
When polling for any survey they use whatever size of a population they wish. 15k out of the possible (going by the box sale numbers on this one) 500k sales in the US or 970k for NA/EU would be acceptable for statistical purposes and would provide more than enough data for an accurate estimation of a trend.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Anyways I do not see xfire a reliable source at all and never will, just can't believe people swear by it. As for wow stats that could be a little more reliable for trends as it has a huge number of players using xfire in the first place.
Yeah, because we all know the information that the MMO companies gives us are reliable. At least xfire is a neutral source.
Hm 90 people in my legion and not 1 of them said they use Xfire in a poll. I know about another 40 that told me they dont use it. Hey thats a trend 90% of the people i play with every day dont use Xfire. You cant base shit off Xfire stats its pathetic that you even try.

They get dumber and dumber with every passing day.

Because we don't agree with you Lork doesn't mean anyone is dumb here, we just use our brains more

4 out of 5 dentists agree chewing Freedent helps keep your teeth clean between meals.
Yet the 10 dentists that work in the dental office I go to were never asked their opinion nor were ever given a survey on the subject. Does that make the trend tracking wrong or inaccurate?
Nope.

It is not about agreeing, but logic, and from what I can tell about you and a large portion of the posters on this forum, you don't have any. The sad part about all of this, you care about subscription numbers and I don't, but I continue argue about it to proof a point.

I don't care about subscription numbers at all I just think the information is not a true indication of the state of the game.
15k on xfire is not even 10% of their current player base so I wouldn't read anything into it at all but if you can come with stats to a ratio of 10% then maybe a little more believable wouldn't you say????
The problem with using Xfire for determining the health or popularity of a game is along the lines of polling say the Republican party and asking them their opinion of Obama. The poll results are perfectly valid and even statistically meaningful. It would also be wrong to use it to state what the entire country let alone the rest of the world thinks. Xfire appeals to a specific demographic much in the same was as the Republican or Democrat party does. So people can say that 50% of the Xfire users have done this or that but that is all it definitely means and any other conclusions are based on assumptions.
Like others have mentioned I know of no one in my Legion that uses Xfire and when I played WoW I knew very few that did then. We all are on our Ventrilo server chatting with each other.
Also, if you are going to use numbers you just can't ignore the ones you don't like. I really thought it was quite amusing when someone earlier stated that the online numbers are so high because gold resellers are using Xfire. Let's see if they are AFK most of the time or running bots why would they be using Xfire? If they are all in the same building or office area working for a company why would they be using Xfire? If many of them are non-English speakers why would they be using Xfire (and yes I know that the Xfire client has been translated to a number of Asian languages) instead of something local and better suited? They wouldn't. People don't seem to realize how much credability they lose when they make up facts like that.
Xfire is interesting and may shed some light on a small aspect of the world of game playing but it is not definitive and it is not without bias.
