oh really? Darkfall is a rip off of warhammer too! Show some proof or go away...fanboy
Wow. Seriously? You are trying to deny a widely known fact? I'm not even going to bother...
The point of my post is people need to get over themselves with this faux outrage. WoW is not the end all be all. Games have done it before WoW, believe it or not.

I dont know why you, or so many other people in this thread are acting just like blind fanboys.
Ofc WoW based itself in other games, and every game took ideas from other former games.
Now, you really think it is acceptable to copy something to this extent? Are you actually tryiong to compare basing a game in some other ideas to what happened in this case?
Really, because acting like this is a total normal stuff is astonishing for you ppl.
This is the most astonishing, the most sad, the most ridiculous thing ive seen in this market since the start, and I play for a long time. They actually used the exact same User Interface as other game.... really.... and you ppl try to make it look like if they just took some ideas.
After reading the idiocy of this topic, I know that this has probably been said already 10 times....but wow didnt fn make that interface. For gods sake. THEY ripped it off. giosdjgksdnfgsdgknsdfjksdkhhg
Of course it was stolen. Anyone with eyes can see it. It is painfully obvious.

Could you pls link an image of the interface they ripped off? The OP did it, show us your version then
I don't get your point? that things shows no proof of wow being a copy of war. Just look at the released war game, wow and war have very different gameplay.
I think, and I may be wrong, that he/she was not saying a copy of WAR. WAR and Warhammer Fantasy are two different beasts. Looking at WoW, or more correctly looking at Warcraft, it's kinda easy to see that Blizzards writers borrowed fairly heavily from Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy universe, especially in visuals. They certainly took it to a more..light...funsy direction, for sure. The fact that those Blizzard lore writers had played more than a few games of Warhammer Fantasy table-top is apparent, though. Not that I'm saying that there is anything wrong with it, mind you.
Gameplay wise I'd say WoW and WAR are similar too. They both use the idea of 4 classes in combat (tank, healer, DPS, ranged DPS[mage]). True, they aren't exactly the same, but they certainly are blood relatives.

If this isn't evident, then you need to quit posting and do some real research on gaming. (which I know you won't do)

If it is so evident it shouldnt be hard for him to provide the UI blizzard copied now would it?
Come on, show us the interface blizzard copied to the extent this guys done with this f2p crap
I'm no fanboy of Alganon, I didn't play the beta yet. Still: who cares how much is copied from what? The one and only thing that matters is if the game is fun to play. And I personally wouldn't value the opinion of most people here regarding that too highly, since a large part of the community is already biased towards the game.
No matter how much they copied, still a lot of the guys on the Alganon team put a lot of work into the game. So once it's released it should get a fair chance. If you don't give it a fair chance, but simply believe some other people somewhere said, then you might miss quite some fun. Sure, the game could be as bad as people say, but it deserves a chance nonetheless.

Well, first you need to get out of attack mode so you can process information. Second, if you actually read my post and knew what all those different games were, you wouldn't need anymore "enlightenment".
I'm not narrowing in on some damn UI or "gameplay mechanics". I'm talking game world. The creatures and lore that make up the game world. You made up in your mind that I said Warhammer Fantasy was a computer game. Your bad. Although I do think I mentioned the words "table" and "top" in there.
Use Google and go educate yourself on other forms of gaming outside of computer gaming. Oh, and stop being so damn defensive about it. I certainly wasn't attacking any of the above mentioned games. Anyone who is familiar with ALL of them can see easily how alike they are in various areas. It's clear you don't have that level of familiarity.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
Seriously when I read this topic I laughed... not because I am a big WoW fan or a Alganon troll or anything like that but seriously all MMOs are the same, just as every flight simulator is the same etc.. That is wha tmakes them all MMOs. Alganon doesn't offer anything new or innovative, but hey neither did WoW, nor any other MMO in a long. Many MMos have the same type of UI and combat, push button 1 to do spell A , follow up with push button 2 for spell B, oh no I'm dying hit button 9 to teleport out, or so on and so forth. My dad plays EQ been playing since release, he has his UI set up and had it set up for years before WoW came out and guess what the UI in WoW looks almost just like my Dad's custom UI for EQ... Does that mean WoW ripped off my dad? I don't think so....
It is just that people like thigns to be simple and up front and in their face and easy to access. WoW did somewhat main stream this but so has every other MMO. Just like all fantasy MMOs are rip of of toilkeness lands which in it self was a rip off European mythologies that Toilken studied. Some sci-fi MMOs are different but not really they are usually just like every other mmo just with a different skin so to speak. I am not to sound bitter or what ever but I have played MMOs since UO came out back in the day and for the pass few years nothing new or original has came out. I am currently playing free to play games due too being poor and unable to afford a monthly subscription, and I refuse to pay to play a game that is so similar and I can get just as much enjoyment out of a free to play game with a different skin.
The combat of DDO and Spellborn were a breath of fresh air but even still that can be found in other games. Every game rips off everything else. Everything is a rip off of everything if one uses the logic to say Alganon is a rip off of WoW

I know more about this genre and have played more than you think.WAR and the Warhammer series are not different. As wrongly posted. The end result may be different, but not the concept.
To say that WoW borrowed from anyone is easy to say. But also easy for a moron to say. It's like saying the Whopper is the same as the Big Mac. The same in price, but not in what you are eating.
Funny thing is.....I don't remember the masses complaining when Warcraft 1/2/3 came out that it was any copy of another game or creation. Yet now, all of you morons keep saying it was because it's put to use in WoW.
Give examples....from before Warcraft. NOT WoW...but WARCRAFT. I don't think you can.

Of course you don't remember about the masses complaining because we all weren't internet forum addicts back then as we are now. THe only people you interacted with were in your local offline gaming community in large part. The first time I played Warcraft I said to myself that it reminds me of Warhammer Fantasy battles. That was a compliment to the game. It even had the same "quirky" humor that you find in all levels of Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy universe.
I've given an example. I'm not going to link it. You can Google just as well as I can. You can even go to the Games Workshop website and click on the Warhammer Fantasy link at the top of the page. It's there. You just have to actually want to go look at it.

That's cool, I never met my dad. So tell your dad to get a good swift kick in the butt on him for me, would ya?

Just so long as we aren't taking each other seriously. I like a good banter and need to know that know feelings or kittens were hurt in the making of this thread.

Young Lad: "But Ben, I can handle it"
Old Man: "Here. Take this troll spray. ... and don't let him know you have a sister."

One man, a small pile of money, and the screwball idea of a DIY Indie MMORPG? Yep, that's him. ~sigh~
Are you serious?
WoW was made on it's own from their own ideas.
And no Warhammer game could have been copied since there was only the one RTS that I know of.
Please "enlighten" us with your knowledge.....
You really are clueless about RPG's.
WoW was clearly based on Everquest and Warhammer's lore and environment. Warhammer game dates from the 70's in both pen and paper and tabletop games and rpg's.
You think warhammer is a RTS videogame?

I would debate with you forever and be wrong 100% rather than argue with the masses here.....just saying
