Im playing still and loving it 5 more levels for the entire daevonian set thats 5 toons to 30.
Won't say its not losing people because it clearly is my legion has suffered some heavy falls of late.
Lost many to RL they came out of a MMO sebatacle to try Aion but just cant commit the time to it.
Lost a few as its not quest based enough, lost others because PVP is a core element.
Aion was never *despite what some fanboi's where saying) going to be this wow killing game, we have a enlarged community so desperate for that next big thing that every MMO becomes this wow killing machine to see us to the next gen.
Aion simply is not that MMO, It is a nice tidy bug free enjoyable PVP orientated game that I am thoroughly enjoying and can see myself doing for years to come.
SWG 30+ days ended up there for 4 years
L2 30+ days 2 years
WAR 10 days cancelled
AOC cancelled pre-order based on beta never purchased it
My past history tells me I'll be there a good while.
I'm still subscribed, but don't plan on playing it much longer.
I havn't logged in for two weeks and don't miss it at all. Real life time constraints dragged me away. I guess it has just become too Hardcore for me. I used to love that stuff, but anymore I can't stand to only have an hour a week and not get anywhere with it. I've gone back to playing First Person Shooters.

Threads like this prove that Aion still has a healthy following past the 1 month mark. Personally, Aion is a blast for me and will continue to be for along time. I currently have 3 level 30+ toons....and Aions a "grind"? lol I don't get why Aion has generated so much hate but whatever it is its pretty obvious Aion didnt meet the expectations or playstyle of these folks. It doesnt mean Aion wont be fun for those that can look past the minor flaws until their fixed.
For whatever reason Aion continues to get horrible feedback from people who didn't enjoy it. The folks that are enjoying it dont post here so you see much more hate and BS spread around about Aion. The truth is, Aion is a blast to play and will likely to be one of the best pvp MMOs out for years to come....for those that don't bother picking at every little flaw they can find ingame.

Well I play on 2 servers and they are both dead .... and it pretty much the same on all servers.. i created a toon on all eastern servers to find a decently populated one...
There is no customer support at all from NCSOFT... they keep making claims about a patch has no date and its been a month with no updates ...
No GM's in the game lots of bots and Not framers straight up BOTS.... (which is accomplish through NCSOFT Macros system)
NCSOFT does not post on forums, the forums are full of bugs and errors constantly ..
I am not making any of this up its just the way it is...
I am going to cancel because , they seem to no care about the game so it a waste a time .. and we are not getting any feed back or patches or any relief from the bots, or server merging so you can find groups nothing....
Threads like this prove that Aion still has a healthy following past the 1 month mark.
Because 49% of the people said they didn't renew after the first free month? Math must be weird where you're from. Is the sky a different color too?
Yeah, offcourse, lets just pretend we are NOT at mmorpg.com and that all people here are completely unbiased and actually did play the game before voting...
MMOs are like regular games, as in, you cannot just play one. Endgame can never be updated enough, IMO, so I play more than one MMO. When I need a break from one MMO (right now, WOW) I cancel the subscription and move on to another (like Aion, right now). I've always done that method and it works great. You can never truly beat an MMO so I don't care how long it takes for me to get my toon to the level cap, as long as I am having fun. I also, on occassion, play free trials. I tried getting into DFO, I wish I didn't pay for the game, but whenever the new patch comes out I will read up on it and maybe try again. The fact that I can never find another player is what got me to stop, and the pace of walking. With Aion I don't feel it is that much more a grind than other MMOs. I like it, some people don't like it, but I enjoy it still. I will take a break from it when CAT comes out though.

Yeah, of course, lets just pretend that the person I was replying to didn't specifically say this thread is showing something that it's not? He said this thread is showing a healthy following after the first month, when this thread shows a 50 percent non-renewal rate post first free month. I'm not saying this poll is in any way factual at all, just that Ethian's perception is wtf-odd.

Well, the poll is a bit skewed. There are three options for "not renewing" and only two options for renewing. There is no option for those who played the free month and will subscribe.
Even with that, 64.1 % won't renew and 35.9 will renew
So a little over a 3rd will renew. That seems about right.

Your hypocrasy knows no bounds my dear sir. Pot calling the kettle black my dear sir.
If this poll had shown anything different it would be "Aion is the greatest mmo ever", but it shows something totally different, yet its dismissed as somehow invalid. Its funny on this site people use the votes and polling system to suit their own needs. If a poll for expample shows anything negative about wow, then its deemed as fact and truth on this site, but when a poll for another game ie. Aion is shown, it is somehow invalid?
Nothing on this site can ever be trusted, that is for sure as hell true.
I was wary going into the game. I just don't have the patience to grind out levels and gear to get to the end game like I did with DAoC anymore. The gold sellers and bot's sealed the deal.
I'll be sticking around a while in Aion - have not noticed any change in the guild that I am in - but it is not a particularly large guild though and most people in my guild seem to be adults that are in general less interested in the latest new toy.
That being said Dragon Age, Modern Warfare and Left for Dead has sucked away a lot of people. (It amazes me that WoW is continuously on top all this time - Blizzard surely knows how to design a game that captivates a lot of people's attention)
I thoroughly enjoy Aion. I appreciate it for what it is and don't crucify it for what it isn't.
That said, I got the email from NCSoft yesterday stating my account ran out and at this point in time I'm not going to resubscribe. With all the decent other non-MMO titles that have recently came out, Dragon Age, Left4Dead2, Borderlands, Torchlight, and so on, my playtime is pretty full and getting around the holidays, the money is a little tighter.
I plan on resubbing at some point in time, maybe after I finish the games I'm playing now, but this month it's just gonna have to go. Maybe the economy will balance out and some bans will take place by the time I return.
Ya... cause a vote on this site = the entire player base for Aion
Seriously I wish some posters would get a clue
Posters on this site aren't the typical MMORPG players. They're more like theoretics who just happen to like to discuss about MMOs and everything that is connected to them and the companies who create them. And there's nothing wrong in it, you just have to keep that in mind.
But to the OP:
After playing WoW, quite many players think they like MMOs in general. Lowish retention rates in every lately launched MMO proves otherwise. And IMO that's a good thing.
Those players create an influx to the companies at first (box sales) and leave after the included month. By leaving they create less noise that companies might interpret as a need to change the game.
alot of us wont give nc soft any more money till they kill the bots, the bots completely ruin the game as it is, they destroyed the economy before it got off the ground and you cant hunt in many areas due to the fact that dozens of bots camp the main areas 24/7 from level 15 all the way to level 50
this morning when the thread was first posted or i first saw it w/e there was 16 votes more pointed towards no resub after a month. this evening 12 hours later give or take a few hours 111 votes and almost half are not resubbing i just find it interesting. and what makes it more interesting is listening to ppl try to write it off as unbiased or they arent really ppl who play mmorpgs. yes i realize trolls are abound here but alot of ppl on this site DO play mmo's and we DO say our Opinions on those games for the sake of those who may or may not be listening for their benefit. though the poster above is right its missing some options that would give it more of a biased feel to it. honestly it reads like are you quitting? or are you quitting? there really isnt a are you gonna keep playing? that probably makes no sense but w/e

ok all i have to say is you are my friend mister. ive been saying this from headstart this game has lots of issues with the bots being the biggest problem of all. in theobomas atm it is literally impossible to complete 2 missions 1 because bots have it camped and the second because the asmos have it camped which is why i gave up i cant get further lvl 30 templar grinded out
Need an option for "Played the betas and canceled my preorder"
Agree, since that's the category I'm in as well. Even though NCsoft has such borked-up billing, that although I was refunded my purchase for the CE through Steam, NCsoft still has it listed under my account, and the one month of access. Not that I played it for more than a few hours past launch. The game is poo.

I played the first month then unsubbed, was even running a active legion with around 20 members + website/vent. Going in I thought it looked great, after hitting level 40 I got to burnt out to keep playing. It just got dull and repetitive for me, and PVP was to dependent on pots. Crafting was also a grinding joke, I would sit 4 hours crafting and be lucky to get 100 points just point and clicking. Then the bots ended it for me, I would be leveling and constantly have to fight with them for kills. Handed the legion off to my second-in-command and said I had enough. No I am not one that likes grind, I went back to Eve and AoC(lol, which has surprisingly improved a lot).
U make such a poll on mmorpg.com and expect to know if the game is holding or not. Thanks for making me laugh .
The thing is there is a similar poll on Aionsource and over 40% polled say they will cancel. Now some of those may be trolls just trying to down the game but that's still alot for a fansite dedicated to the game. Can you imagine if the same poll is put up on WoW.com, you think you're going to get 40% nays?
I've always said that I think Aion will have a decent, core group of subscribers around 200k tops but at this point right now I think it's fair to say they are losing more subs than they are gaining. The game isn't even in the top 10 for Steam or D2D anymore.
