Some of those games arent even MMOs. You might as well put every FPS on there if you have games like the Jedi Knight series.
Nowhere does it say "mmos only" in the OPs post.
The JK series is very much action based. It would be one thing if Quake or CoD were on the list but the Jedi Knight series is nothing like those games. As a matter of fact the JK series is still the only game to get twitch based melee play right.
You don't think Oblivion did it right? Or Die By the Sword? Btw, add both of those if you added the JK series.

Die by the Sword is ok but it's pretty damn old and most definitely didn't have the fluidness of say Jedi Knight 2. I'd compare it to something like Rune (which is another action game not on the list). Oblivion however is a singleplayer game and the OP is talking about multiplayer games. As for my opinion, first person mode rpg's can die in a fire.

Okay, I understand the argument there. I still thought it was great fun though and hate that no one's picked up on the idea again yet.
I also liked Rune. Crazy viking game. It was great fun back in the day. Haven't been able to get another copy to play recently, sadly. =
I wasn't really sure what he was talking about. No specifics except by other posters as of yet.
I don't know why people always say this. I find it so much more immersive. As I say, "how the hell am I supposed to be immersed and feel like I'm the character I just created if I'm obviously staring at his full figure the whole time I'm playing? Feels like I'm following him and magically controlling his actions rather than being him."

Well that's fine I personally can't stand them. I do like a good FPS but I could never get into first person rpgs, they annoy me. Different strokes. That's why we have a variety of games to choose from.
Yeah, I've seen that a lot of people can't. I just don't get it *shrug*. Either way, I don't discriminate against either. Just tend to get more locked into first person games.
That's not to say that third person games can't be engaging. I wouldn't be paying for A Tale In the Desert, especially with it's pretty obvious obscurity if I didn't think it were engaging. =]
And I wouldn't have paid for games like the JK series, KotoR, Mass Effect or Neverwinter Nights either if they weren't engaging. Heh.
His list isn't strictly to MMOs as he stated. I thought of Jedi Knight because of all the saber and power only servers. Sure there was an FPS part of it but there was a large chunk of people that played duels with only sabers and force powers, and is also in the 3rd person mode, which is just an action game by that point.
What the hell is the point of posting it on the general board of a site devoted to MMOs then? This should be in general gaming.

I don't know ask him. No need to get mad about it.
I didn't get too specific at first, what I was thinking initially would be more of what I would call "player-skill" games and I said action games which doesn't do it justice, basically games that aren't whack-a-mole and depend heavily on a players ability.
Games that would resemble rakion would be the ideal thing for me but I don't believe too many of those actually exist at least in a language that is accessible.
I did, when asked earlier, specify multiplayer games with a "twitch element" this is why certain games such as risk your life 2 could not be included because it has the illusion of being twitch but isn't. Sorry if this topic is in the wrong section.... getting it moved wouldn't bother me since this discussion includes MMORPG's and other games.

This list makes no sense and angers me even further.
Is that because many of them are not MMORPG's? If that's the case I understand, and I realize that this is in the wrong section now. Is there another reason it's angering you though?
These are the games I think would be action MMORPG's though, face of mankind is a FPS but it is an RPG from what I understand although I never investigated it that much and Huxley may be another planetsideish game not sure.

This angers me. How is NWN anything like the other 2 it's paired with? Why the hell would you even group 3 distinctly different series of games from different developers AND publishers on a so-called comprehensive list of actiony multiplayer games?
true, my bad they are distinctly different games, my goal in making this list is to find games perhaps I have over-looked or not heard of and I am sorry if I have angered people in this thread that was not my intent.
I also realize again that this is in the wrong section anyway since its not focused entirely on mmorpgs so if a moderator is reading this please move this thread to general gaming.
I also apologize for the sloppiness of the developing of this thread because I didn't hash out things clearly and distinctly at the beginning or have any hard-lined criteria that filtered out games from the start.

Rune should be on there.
You should definately have Borderlands in that list.
It's an FPS with RPG style progression and a multiplayer co-op mode.
Not an MMORPG or an MMOFPS, but still well worth a mention considering some of the other games you have listed there.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
