isn't this like the 8th thread about this video? If i'm gonna play a korean mmo again its going to be TERA, at least they don't have a history of having 0 customer service. But seriously with all the complaints about Aion, did anyone ever read rant about how crappy Aions graphics were? No, why this was the focus of the "update" is beyond me.
the focus aren't the graphics its most on the new combat mechanics and world enhancements.
Correction, the focus is on getting people to stay subscribed/resub before the end of Q4 so they can say "hey look how awesome we're doing!" for their end of year report. There is no real information about what the video means at all besides the picking apart by the usual fanboys. Never trust a damn thing thats promised, in "trailer" form no less, that doesn't also have information backing it, and a release timeline within a month, let alone something that's being spouted out during the end of Q4, unless you like being creatively lied to.
the patch notes for the gameplay video were on the korean site. They have been translated. None of it is fanboy made.
I left Aion for more reasons than one, but when this comes around I'll be back and finally feel satisfied since this is the way Aion should have been released. Innovative and charming.

Korean devs are calling it 3.0, suggesting this stuff will be released in patch 3.0 ( Aion is currently on 1.5.2). They have also stated they have no intention of adding any of that stuff any time soon. They have an expansion coming out mid/end 2010, which they have already stated will not contain any of the stuff we saw in the trailer.
Personally i thought that trailer was epic, however that stuff wont be as exciting if they launch it in a couple of years. We already have some of the biggest MMOs been released next year and they look even better.

I doubt it will take that long. Only Blizzard takes 2 years to bring rehashed content out. It's imperative to keep and even gain new market to start bringing new and exciting content for the players on a very regular basis and NC do know this.
It would make absolutely no sense to bring a video out only to show what they are bringing on a 2nd expansion when they didnt even spoke or shown anything about the first.
Generally speaking i feel Aion is going in the right direction . I m not playing at present but i will return to it when i have more time in the new year . I m not concerned about the bots anymore than i was when they inundated WoW in its first couple of years . These problems dont go away overnight and people tend to forget all games have teething problems in thier first months . There has been an awful lot of trolling in these forums about Aion but inspite of all this the game still is very busy . In fact most people i know that have put it on hiatus did it for one reason thats because in its initial month the que times were too long .

I love the way you're saying they said this and they said that. Have you any proof, or a source for this inside information? If I was to hazard a Guess I imagine NC Soft will be looking to release this patch/content around the time Cataclysm and KOTR are launched, to maintain numbers. That would be smart business sense, in my mind.

Its not called 3.0 because of when that content is out ... its called Vision of Future [ or Vision of 3.0 ] because this is how they want AION to be by the time it hits version 3.0. These features will all be added starting early next year when the first Expansion Pack [ version 2.0 ] comes. They will gradually add the rest until everything is in , hopefully by the time the game is at 3.0 .
If there is 1 single thing that NCSoft need to do is pull their fingers out of their ass on customer service in the west.
They have a good reputation in Korea for their customer service but in the est they stink to high heaven on this, no matter how great a game it is or isn't right now & how great it may be in the future there is no excuse for lame CS, just ask Blizzard, of their 4000 employees the bulk of them are customer service people for WoW, if NCSoft are serious about being in the western market they had better start looking after that market in earnest, & that's going to take people.
Trailer looks good, but I'm not interested in the game for aesthetic reasons, I like my MMO games to have a more "gritty" brutal, visceral & earthy appearance, all that fake beauty sickens me, reminds me of an old movie called "Brazil" & it's ethereal fantasy scenes.
It looks very epic in the trailer. But between the scammers, the grind and the community I doubt I'll be in it for much longer.
Yes, the spammers are mostly gone. But head out to any hub and you'll find goldseller stores set up. They aren't gone, the economy hasn't changed and it's still an incredible grind that's nearly impossible to solo from level 20 on unless you are doing repeatable quests.
It's really too bad - so much promise and a lovely world.

Apart from one or 2 NTC runs Ive pretty much soloed to 39 doing quests and grinding a litte without and problems at all, so i really dont understand what you mean.
was always interested in this game until i discovered it was more or less a rush to endgame and that endgame was pvp, which i have absolutely no interest in
i have always found pvp as it is most often implemented as well, stupid - if you are in a fight and you die that should be the end for you in that particular fight but most MMOs just let you "resurrect" and jump right back in - just one of many reasons i don't care for pvp
anyway, with these changes is this still a pvp centric game with a little more interesting journey to endgame or are they actually creating a living breathing world that one can live in?
i'm thinking Ryzom with an actual population - yes/no?
sad the housing all looks the same with just a few skin changes
Really blows anything blizzard are trying to with Cata out of the water. Aion is a great game already with these MMO revolutionery changes Aion will rightfully sit at the top of the throne as the premier MMO King.
No other other gaming company would be able to pull the stuff seen in that video off, except for NCsoft. Go Korea!
Aion v3 "RELOADED" - A glimpse into the future of the MMO genre
This truly looks like the next step in MMO's. I was starting to think MMO's were always gonna be plain, boring, and without any excitement or change, but now it looks like an actual world.
I'm as excited as i was when i first started playing my first MMO and i have been trying to find that feeling again for a long time by playing new MMO's.
Inherited Will, the Destiny of the Age, and the Dreams of its People. These are things that will not be stopped. As long as people continue to pursue the meaning of freedom, these things will never cease to be! - Gol D. Roger

I honestly don't see how you can say that statement just by that video. How does it look like an actual world? All i gathered from the video is really cool graphics.

Maybe not an actual world and not only really cool graphics but NEW stuff as in actual upgrades and additions to content that will actually get people to keep playing or come back to playing the game. Maybe its because you don't play the game that you don't see the potential for the major improvements of several mechanics in the game and are therefore not excited.
its funny how people who complained about the botters and quit before the first month assume its just as bad 3 months later when that isn't the case at all
I take it you never played any other NCSoft game. Or any other MMO that relies on Gameguard. But that's ok.
No matter whether there is gameguard or not all of ncsofts titles have been bot-ridden, Lineage I & II especially so & that heritage is alive and well in Aion.
Well, Aion doesn't rely on gameguard. Not in the west at least.
Yes, so our version of AION is now even completely unprotected and even more open to hacking. Wich is exactly what happened is continue to happen.
Do you really think the NC devs in Korea are going to bother or even getting resources to work on client security for our western game client, while they or at least their CEO's still firmly believe in Gameguard and continue to use it in their MAIN Asian market?
The moment NCWest removed GameGuard we already pretty much knew this game was done for and that, next to the RMT'ers and more brighter cheating idiots,.... that now every Noob on the internetz was going to be able to hack their way into AION and run a bot program or any other hack.
Wich, again, is exactly what happened and continues to happen.
The goldsellers, bots and crashes have been fixed btw. Not that you won't encounter any of them anymore, but a great difference is noticable since the last patch / last bans.
Aion is still a grind for those who want to make it a grind, but if you level in all avaiable areas (Elten, Heiron, Rash, Theo), there are enough quests.
Personally, I like to grind Abyss Points, so repeatable quests are perfect for me, although I would love to see more different quests in the Abyss.

i hope this comes out soon, but even NCSoft Korea says we wont see these changes for a while. Remember its a "visions of the future" trailer.
