I have never played Darkfall, but I have to say that this expansion sounds amazing.  At some point I might check it out to see what is up, but currently I'm playing Fallen Earth and having a good time.  I've always wanted to play a game with an ocean/sea component and this expansion sounds really intriguing.  Maybe if they have a trial I will give it a go sometime in the near future.

This has piqued my curiiousity about Darkfall though.  I'm gonna have to read up on it a bit and see what kind of features they have.

Year ago they've said that there will be no summoning in DF.

DF doesn't have auto-combat, and your player skills always matter. From that point of view - summoning would be a step back.

All this talk of potential makes me think back to my good ole SWG days, man I miss those. Anyways, I can honestly say behind SWG Darkfall is the 2nd best MMO I've ever played and ill continue to play especially with everything getting better and better.Trust me guys this could be a once in a lifetime oppurtunity, like SWG was. (of course lets hope Tasos isnt as stupid as Smedley)

You mean have an NPC fight for you

I wouldnt mind having spells to ressurect a demon that can dance retardedly around his master, but to fight for him is absolutely a no no

Not in this game, hopefully.....no more carebearing, no more skillless "I win attack this" button for NPCs

Why to fight for him, just to fight together. If summon would do all job and would take few seconds to heal then yes, it is total bs... Except if later in game comes potions allowing non-stop killing, then they can make summoners...

Talking about carebearing, did they remove laser towers?

    Just declare war on them

I've played the game non stop since release and I am still discovering new parts of the world that I have never seen and are no where else in Agon. Great to see the best game(not just mmo) that I have ever played getting even better than it already is.

I think once this second expansion goes live, you'd have to be a fool or a complete moron to try to argue that the game is even CLOSE to still being in beta. Hell, the Darkfall at launch (which I played) and the Darkfall now as so unbelievably different in a better way, I'm just stunned at how insanely fast they're making this game better.

For sure. Anyone still under the belief that this game is in a beta state, has either not played recently, or has never been involved in a true beta test.

I too am also surprised how fast things are shaping up. When the game launched I stayed away, and my gut was telling me things were probably not going to end well. I'm very glad my gut seems to have been wrong.

The amount of positive posts I read in this thread about Darkfall amazes me, MMORPG.com used to be Darkfall-bashing capital  :)

Anyway, I have been playing this game for about 4-5 months now (I also played beta), and I still think it's one of the best MMO's out there. Beta/launch compared to today's Darkfall is a world of difference, and I highly recommend you re-sub for a month to check it out after this expansion.

For new players, Darkfall isn't all too hard if you get used to the unwritten rules. But fear not, the in-game community is generally very helpfull (speaking for EU1 here). I also believe this expansion adds a few more newbie quests involving wildlife so you get an even easier start than the evil goblin scouts give you...  :)

I hope Aventurine adds a free trail after this expansion, so people can give it a try without spending €50.

Been playing for almost a month now...it's pretty damn good. It's got an edge to it that I've yet to find in any other game since UO. As much as I hate dying and losing mah lewtz, the fact that I can be killed at any time makes it that much more fun when I'm logged on.

Expansion?  Are people even allowed to openly buy Darkfall yet?  I haven't followed the game closely lately, but it sounds like a train wreck.

Maybe you should inform yourself better, because it sounds like a very good game that's getting better all the time, at least that's what the birds be saying

If I was that uninformed about mmos I wouldn't have the kahunas to even post here.

Cool Interview...cool game - wish I had more time to play it.

Great to see an Indi game like this growing.

    Well done Aventurine.

I have never played Darkfall mainly because of what I read on this site when it first came out. Has it got any better?

10x better.  After the expansion, who knows, 100x better.

Just like Eve Online, Darkfall is on the (fast) way to become a new mmo reference, an awesome alternative to the dozens of theme park clones.

After avoiding DF a while due to the bad press in these forums, i'm so glad i joined Darkfall anyway.

This expansion is just another giant step in the right direction.

This expansion will be amazing if it delivers on all the promises. I'm really excited about sea creatures like the Kraken. I'm contemplating becoming a pirate later on.

I'm quite happy to see all the positive posts. I had to double-check to make sure I was really on MMORPG.com.

Until they implement a hardcap on skills DF is doomed to fail :(.

People macroing away in cities until they have everything maxed means little to no pvp in a huge world.

Also means no diversity on players and group setups, everyone are masters on both weapons and magic and wears plate.

Don't really know why they haven't understood this yet after ~7 years of both development and release time...maybe they just want the EVE setup. Which is completely fucked up for a MMOFPSRPG (!) if you ask me.

K since you have no idea  what you are talking about I shall set you straight

    Pay attention

There is no more macroing since hunting brings 3 times the skillgain in melee/archery and 6 times in magic

According to Claus, adding a skill cap would be taking away from the game and forcing players to give up their freedom. He explained that Darkfall’s philosophy is adding options rather than restrictions. Specialization options are already in the game, and many more are on their way. He offered three quick examples from December’s upcoming free expansion:

An option called Jumpshot allows you to jump and fire a bow at a 10 percent penalty on max mana. Aquatic Shot allows you to use a bow under water at a 5 percent penalty on max mana. Finally Mage-Killer will give you bonus damage against users wielding a staff but completely blocks your ability to use elemental, arcane, and necromancy magic. You could select to use all three of these options to get a real edge as an archer vs. magic at a 15 percent max mana penalty plus the magic use penalty. This is a choice you make, you’re not forced to do this, and if you don’t like it you can reverse it easily and get something else that suits your play-style better. There are many high-end specialization options available and more will be added with every update. Claus explained to us that this is the just first step in adding even more diversity to Darkfall.

Hope that is clear and concise for everyone.

So............... they are adding skills to make rock (mage) -paper (archer) -scissor (warrior) classes?  Isn't that against the rules of hardcore sandbox?
