Darkfall: Conquer the Seas Expansion Q&A

Some positive feedback, let me put some cents in it as well, I've played SWG, EVE, Then DFO. I started 1 month after Launch.

And at first I thought DFO will lose population due to no RPG/PVE elements, but the devs are slowly evolving those core aspects that makes a mmorpg a mmorpg.

I am a PVPer plain and simple, I do not fiend for the RPG/PVE elements, but I want them in, because in a sandbox you need to have choice. Which is what AV is realizing and adding on as needed.

About a few weeks, before NA came out, I unsubbed and tried EVE again, lol what a mistake, I went into a fight, and fell asleep lol.

YOU WILL NOT DO THAT IN A BATTLE OF DARKFALL. Or even sitting anywhere lol.(including NPC towns)

People about the hard/skill cap, I kinda agree with you, but then I take a look at what AV is doing...

They are giving you specializations to stuff that will screw over other stuff. Which is kinda of like a hardcap, but the role you spec in the better you are at it. Do I think a hardcap will be great for darkfall? Yes, do I think they can pull it off with add tons of specilizations(That will also offset other skills) Yes.

As far as population is concerned, on NA, lol Population is booming. I am in VAMP, and we just dismantled a Zerg of Yssam( a continent on Agon) and that was very fun.  Magic is OP atm, expansion will tone it down while raising melee/archery, no classes in this game.

Game needs some more polishing and even at expansion needs more probably, but it is the best game I have played, and I can not go back to any other game.

Macroing is stupid, If you see people macro'ing, free loot, they will wasted resources, that can be used to gain on NPC's a lot quicker(best move by AV), also they decrease the grind by 3x, which is huge.

I remember when it first came out, O how the bad press, with rightfully cause too, BUT a large majority of this was from NON pvpers, or used to auto clicking pvpers. Now I have no problem with them, and AV is looking at them at this expansion, they are adding more things they can acccel at besides PVP. But lol the press was so wrong once again.

Once AV gets all the elements needed in a mmorpg into darkfall, it will boom like EVE.

    1.  Hacking / Cheating / Gold buying - Huge issue and problem in the game right now.  Not only is hacking still rampant among the large alliances but they also buy regs / gold / anything they need through websites that sell in-game items for real money.  Why is it such a big deal you ask?  Because these pricks don't spend the time it takes to get the materials they need to level.  They simply buy them, and macro until the skill is 100.  Until they resolve those issues this game is flawed and already is flawed because too many people have benefited from these loop holes.

    2.  Clan system - It's too easy to have an all race clan, and in that regard is flaws the pvp system and the racial alignment system along with it.

I love the game, but with those huge flaws in it right now I can't justify playing it over other sandbox games like EVE

Hacking, I played since the first month, NEVER SEEN ONE HACKER, I've seen plug pullers(which AV has been banning these guys) but no hackers.

Cheating, Ive seen my fair share of exploiting, but like many other said, this has change with the last expansion/patches and hardly any at all exploiting in game right now.(NA is a clean server).

Gold Buying, lol if people are stupid enough to buy gold lol, You laugh at them like you do at EVE's MONEY MAKING ISK MARKET, they buy isk, fail, die, give you half their sht, you laugh and raise your arms high.

Clans System, I agree on this, And I suspect a revamp of the alignment system  soon, Murdurers get off to easy, and should take days to pull 1 murdurer off your character, ALSO it should include that if you die while having a murder on your character, then you should lose 1% of your skills.(just like MO, only thing they got right, everything else in MO sucks, I tried beta :().

So only 1 huge flaw, and Eve suffers it too, Look at 0.0 for an expample, you are protecting your land, same with darkfall, which is why I question my idea of the murder system.

Does not really matter how many changes to the game they make, the community still is the  worst I have seen in any game.   Until they clean up the community, new players will general find an extremely hostile unfriendly environment.

As to cheating, only a naive posters says there is not any.  Cheats are still there for those that want to avail themselves of them.

I really don't get the bashing on the community. Yes, the majority of people on forumfall are goons but the majority of the people I have run into in game are not like that. People have been nothing but helpful. Don't get me wrong I am sure there are plenty of jerks in this game but I think the community gets an overly bad rep from people judging the entire community off of forumfall.

I've been playing Darkfall since week 2, the game had its bad time as the cummunity knows... I even thought about quiting the game, but it was early times on DarkFall... I saw ppl saying about the low population on the game, WTF!??!! I was in a siege yesterday about 100+ players each side while other 3 sieges was going on, that Without lag!

Now comes the expansion that everyone was waiting for. DFO, in my opinion, already is the best MMO on the market and it keeps getting better i wonder how it will look next year, and i'm anxious to know how it will look tomorrow...

If you look at the subscriber only forums now, you can tell that it is a LOT more civilized then before. It's obvious that the majority of people you saw on forumfall acting like tools probably aren't even in game.

To be honest, my friends that I convinced (rather easily actually) to give the game a try have all loved it, and all had good experiences being a noob. Hell, clan NEW is just a prime example of great things that players are doing in game to make the experience of new players much easier and better.

DF (with Claus as lead designer) is already going further and further from UO roots. And in my opinion it has everything to do with coming of Mortal Online. Those expecting UO in 3D already chosen MO over DF, so there is no point in trying to please them.

Out of the box DF offers fun, fast-paced, no-nonsense, rpg-light experience. More deep, meaningful, role-playing game experience is possible, but in no way forced on players. Optional customization fits nicely in such design philosophy. Skill cap would be something directly opposite.

In other words: Yes, you can max every skill in DF. It's pointless, costs tons of gold, will take months, it won't give you obvious advantages over someone who maxed only few skills - but you can try, if you find it fun.

yea mo is closer to uo. darkfall si a mix of uo shadowbane and quake
