DAOC IS DEAD. I'LL SAY IT AGAIN DEAD
BUFFBOTS/TOA/SELFISH PLAYERS.
D.E.A.D
thats all
was 2 years of fun. then SI/TOA/buffbots became the shit/pepole began to not give a fuck about anyone. and what about that catacombs, more equipment thats nice, more endless camping, dam i think EQ2 is already out with TOA, camp the same mob for days to level a stupid arti. more pain on making tamplets and aranging your shit.
didnt your mama tell you?, some times more is less mythic.
mythic fucked up themselvs with the "i dont care about my customers i just wanna make money" approch, if you ask me i'll be thinking twice before buying a mythic game again. with all the pay for another expantion bullshit. what do i pay 13$ a week for. my god, a stupid customer support that you really dont need that much, or is it for the huge amount of bugs they keep implanting in the game.
i wont think i'll be back to daoc anytime soon if ever.

so it took you three years to determine it was a bad game. Must have been pretty horrible game
.
i am sorry to hear that but i am not supprised.
theres nothing for a new player to look in daoc now. if theres someone playing under level 50 is just 50's alts of leveling bots. you got no one to group with nothing to take intrest in. i myself as an old player know this game so well i dont need anything or anyone to help me. and you as a new player as pepole in daoc became more and moer selfish with time due to infation and compatition wont help you with shit.
sometimes i think mythic is doing this on perpuse. they dont want new players theyr keeping the old till everyone leavs and then theyll close the game. that simple. i think after catacombs you wotn see anymore expantions. remmeber my words. this game will stop evolving.
.
I will agree, this game is hard on new players. One bad thing of having the /level for 50s.
I dont know why peeps hate toa so bad. I like it. It gives a lot more pve content that in turn helps you in rvr. I guess if you just dont like to pve much then it could be a problem.
Anyway, I hate to see peeps leave, but if they feel that strongly then go. I am thinking maybe after three years of one game then you could possibly get burned out on it. I know my attention span isnt that long.
I have been in EQ2 beta and if all you like is pve then you might enjoy it. It does have a nice tradeskill system and of course nice graphics. But to me I enjoy the mix of doing a bit of rvr and pve. I log and I have options. When playing eq2, I felt as if ok i can craft or level a weapon skill. Dont get me wrong, eq2 is a great game, I just think for some peeps it is going to be lacking.
Have to agree with ya also, I played for almost a year, and I saw it slanting downwards as time went on, still a very fun game, but it just keeps spiraling downward in my oppinion.

Well for a dead game still a lot of people are playing it.
I can't really say that the game is dead. Of course there is the curse that buffbots brought along but I can't really say that killed the game for me nor for many others it seems. I can only speak for the European version/servers of course and we do run behind a bit but overall DAOC is a great game and the most fun of all the MMORPG's I have played so far. (EQ, COH, Horizons, AC and AC2).
Tastes differ of course.....
be sure that what ever numbers you think are playing daoc take about 35% and put that to buffbots....
i dont want to say more then that but i wont be supprised if it would be 40% becouse many pepole have 3 accounts. and play friends that quit accounts and so on and so on.
euro servers are the most pain. only selfish pepole that dont care about realm or friends. when you got someone telling you "dont use my fop" you see how the compatition is.
if you would have played on the us servers you would have seen the diffrence clearly
i havent played the us since toa came out but i am sure its just the same
really fucks up the gameplay. the hole point in a mmo is playing with other pepole. if thats gone, better go play a singel player. will cost less and take less time to get more.
.
Man I have run into a few peeps that are aholes but not near as many as in say shadowbane or lineage2. It is competive, I will give you that. But most of the time I really enjoy most of the peeps I am around. I guess the major thing you have to do is get in a good alliance. I have to say that my alliance is really freindly and helpful.
I am on Morgan lefey, hibernia. My guild is Armoured Saints and the Alliance is called Heroes of the realm.
Anyway, what game do you plan on trying next? I am thinking eq2 will be a more mature crowd than wow(not to affend anyone). I dont know, I played both in beta and that is just the impression I get.
I've played nearly every mmorpg on the planet and I have found that DAoC generally does have an older fanbase. I've found myself coming back to the game not because I necessarily enjoyed the game (ToA and everything after is just a joke), but because I've missed grouping with people that for the most part don't communicate like angry chimps. I just quit FFXI where the foreign kids spoke better English than the americans.
DAoC may be sorta "eh", but I think anyone would have to admit that there are far worse communities out there. Anyone who disagrees has clearly never played Lineage II.
i have to agree with you on that on some level. i still miss daoc even thou i quit playing i miss my guild and i miss my friends.
dont get me wrong i love the compatition in mmo's thats all the fun but when pepole eat each other for it... dam.
let me give you some examples.
i can give you more if you want... you know as well as i do.!

I won't deny there are way too much buffbots around but if you have a closer look you will see that there are still a lot of people with just oen account (like myself). I can't say I have had much problems finding groups to go explore with. A lot depends on yourself as well. Not that many people really notice but the point of playing a mmorpg is to have fun and not to reach the levelcap asap and be the best out there. I don't know which European server you played on but I found Prydwen and Excalibur both nice servers with a lot of nice people who I can call friends nowadays.

Well, it's a little late for that. I already bought the Platinum Edition less than 2 weeks ago. Although I did invest a good 10 hours in the Everquest 2 beta, only to realize that I much prefer DaoC and will keep playing DaoC until I decide for myself the game is "dead". Only until then will I buy Everquest 2 ... or not.
EQ2 lacks freedom. The stupid Island of Refuge sucks so bad, I missed the message I had to talk to the Ambasador to exit the island, which is why I redid everything a 2nd time, talked to the ambasador, left the island, did a few tasks and killed a bunch of monsters in the linear and heavy-loading-time world of Everquest 2.
DaoC offers me freedom. If I wanna go north over hills, I can go north over hills. If I wanna go east and swim right through a lake, I can go east and swim right through a lake. EQ2 if there's a mountain that SOE programmed you could not climb, you won't climb it. And travelling from one area to another sucks too cause you always have to load a new area, it takes away all the realism and it feels like I'm playing an offline RPG... actually it feels like I'm playing Fable. Not that Fable sucks, Fable OWNZ, but I'm not paying a monthly fee for Fable. EQ2 I will.
Crap. I went off topic again.
Look, all this to say that DaoC thanks to all the quests, it has kept me into the game. What's so funny is I'm spending more time solo than with my guild... this game has so much freaking content, that I feel sorry to say, but I sometimes prefer doing the quests rather than power-grind with friends or die in RvR since I'm only Level 20.

It was dead the day TOA came out. It became extremely clear with that expansion that they weren't interested in making a great PvP game, they wanted money and that's it. As soon as i began hunting scrolls for artifacts and leveling them i knew they had just tacked on another wonderful and mindless treadmill. I will never return to this game, nor will i buy another Mythic game. Oh don't even get me bloody started on buffbots, that alone destroyed the PvP aspect for the most part.
I'd consider coming back if they opened a type of "Classic" server where it was DAoC and SI, but you could use the new graphics from the ToA and soon to be catacombs expansion. That would actually be quite enjoyable again, oh yeah and remove spellcrafting... that destroyed the meaning to all but the rarest of dropped loots. Doubtful that will happen, so in my book... DAoC is dead and no... there's no "Rez inc".
its still a decent game, but for me all fun was stripped from it with ToA. it blows my mind that Mythic destroyed the game with that expansion. it brought out every greedy bone in everyone, now its just an endless camping fest with the newbs getting fooked the hardest.

or when you get to rvr with out a bot and get riped off from all sides

sometmes it seems like your daywalking in your sleep or sleep walking in your days
.

gross hyperbole for the win? from someone who's played the game since release; it's not that bad. DAoC is absolutely full of problems, but none of them are as debilitating and/or drastic as this poster would have you believe. my warden just mini-dinged at level 47 today in a group of people that i didn't even know. want to know how i got in? i asked. compact that with the fact that i only had to group with strangers because of the rare chance that none of my guildies were around, then i'd have to say you'd have to have fairly bad people skills to have to solo your way to 50.
DAoC can be fun, and at times it'll make you want to put a bullet through your head... but don't listen to the drama queens. form your own opinion; if it seems like you're having fun, then in all probability you're likely having fun.

man your a warden lol what do you expect not to get groups? and a warden is easy to level solo as well...
A ranger also joined the exact same group with few complaints. my point? you exaggerate far too much.
