Another freaking Kung Fu MMO with a lame leveling grind

dar_es_balatdar_es_balat Member Posts: 438

To suck up the time and money of the next generation of MMO gamers.   These guys ought to just merge with Perfect Word Entertainemnt and Vestgame.   He'll while we're at it the developers of 9 Dragons can join in the fun.

The only thing positive about this game is that it will shut down some of the lame games and companies mentioned above, or force them to develop a next generation piece of trash of their own!

Can we do something else please?

I do like the art style of the Asian games but have to agree the kung fu stuff is lost on me. I dont like kung fu movies or games. Might give the Chuck Norris fans a place to congregate though and that could be a good thing.

    Double Chuck Norris post lol.

The game looks to be a combination of Street Fighter and an MMO, which IMO, isn't a bad thing.

/shrug - I reserve judgment until I actually play it. I have no issues with kung fu either.

OP is right and if you think he is wrong about the grind, name me one asian mmorpg without boring grind. There are none. The game seem great and all, but what will happen at the end of the product? The game will be great, but the only type of players that will enjoy the game will be the no life grinders, players that can possibly bot without getting cut or macro.

Other problem the game may have, they wont even listen to the american communoty. They will only listen to those who like to grind and this is the asian communoty. While you american will grind so hard, ncsoft will have the time to add even more grind just to please the asians.

For example, gunz the duel is a great game.(Its not even an mmorpg, an fps type of game) but, you have to grind to get more gears and all so the game can be more fun and so you can own more. So i left like most of the gunz players for that.

Its not because an mmorpg gameplay can be great that it mean it will end up being great to any type of players. Im just saying.

Any game that a player don't like, the best effect is to vote with their money, that's what happen to VG, War and AoC.

Release a crap game and hope that players will suck up to the hype will only last that long...

Chuck actually took Tang Soo Do which is a Korean martial art, though he has taken various martial arts i believe.  I do mma, and lemme tell u Jiujitsu is not perfect(also have done muay thai). UFC is not a real fight, in a real fight, there are no rules. Have u actually been in a real fight? If someone who knows enough kung fu/taekwondo/karate, they will go for pressure points, u don't need to be on the ground to break someones arm either.  Kung Fu and karate are not for movies only.  Like i said, in a real fight there are no rules, kung fu/taekwondo/karate will also use eye gouges and other "underhanded" techniques. I sparred one of my friends who is a 3rd degree dan blackbelt in Taekwondo, i was able to hold my own, but when we went to the ground he used pressure points and got me to submit.  There are not trained just for stand up, thats what they prefer, but they can hold their own on the ground too.  I love martial arts games as long as they are not too grindy, Im playin Jade Dynasty right now and it's pretty decent.

Jade Dynasty is a horrible game.  It doesnt even have anything to do with Kung Fu.  The Vim wield a giant Klingon weapon, the Jadeon have longswords that shoot LAZERS.   And dont even get me started on the new furry races.

The only reason people play JD is for the bot, so that they can actually play a FUN game while their BOT does all the work necessary for them to reach max level in JD.

    Have you tried refining yet?

How about tried to get a mount other than the frog, tiger, or horse?

You tired yet of logging on, doing Vanguards, Mystic Tome, Alliance Quests, Crisis, and Astral Tales on a daily basis, ad nauseum?

You tried PvP yet?  How do you feel about spamming potions until your F6 key breaks, in the hope of landing that 1 hit kill before your enemies AOE spam lags you enough to make a dent in your potion spam tactics?

    JD is a horrible game!

Well, i played football and i use to watch weslting most of the time. I chalanged my friend who karate to a streetfight,( he got the black belt) All i did was rushing at him to bring him to the ground trying to find how i could lock him and once i did, it was over. At round 2, he could last longer since he knew what i would do, but his guard was even more focused because he scare of me trying to take him down again. He end up not even knowing how he will strike me because i could like grab his leg and make him drop, take his arm and strugle to make him drop or i could simply lock him while he was still standing.

BTW, my post on what fighting style is stronger is from what i saw from youtube. Look at those videos for example

There are bunch of other jiu jetsu video in this channel that beat up other class. Some even tried to put some vasiline on them so the jiu jetsu would slide on them. The fight was so serious that even the crowd tried to cheat to make their kick boxing fighter win like in this one

    http://www.youtube.com/user/PedroLMariano2#p/search/18/KiWjvbS1pss

Skip the video to 2:50. This is a real fight without any rules, even the crowd is so crazy that you have the feeling that they all want to beat up the guy that do jiu jetsu.

Well where did your friend take karate? There are tons of dime a dozen places that basically hand you a black belt after you pay so much money, a real black belt takes at the very least 5 years, if u do it really seriously. Kick boxing is crap, i hate it when people compare it to muay thai, cuz muay thai is so much more brutal.  What u did with that friend is what we would call sparring, a real streetfight is against someone u hate, or someone who is really pissed at u. A fight where they are trying to put u in the hospital or u them.  If you are smart, and you have trained and learned a ton, size does not matter either, and sometimes age. At the person above, i have only played JD up to lvl 25 so i wouldnt know what u are talking about, though from what u said, it sounds like i might be quitting it.

Guild Wars, which NCsoft also made.

Dungeon & Fighter, though they decided to increase required exp in the american version, which made it grindy past level 20. The exp requirements are actually triple the original past 30. They took a korean game that didn't have a korean grind and gave it one.

We already know what to expect from the NCSoft team.   Lineage, L2, and Aion all tell us this will be a hollow game with a large leveling curve.  The game experience will amount to a bunch of fairly well put together early quest lines petering out around level 30, from that point forward giving you diminishing returns until the only thing you are doing is grinding some endgame boss mob hoping you can loot the 1 piece of epic gear faster than your teammates!

    Silly newbie.

Sorry but you fail. Every game you listed has over 1 million current subscribers today. Games like Blade & Soul are doing something different and thats always a good thing. Instead of talking about the these games you need to look at the crap that being released in the West.

Theyre doing something different?  Really?  Like what?   Perfect World has a Kung Fu game with lame furry creatures as a playable race already!  What precisely will this game offer that is different from any other MMO currently out on the market?  Darkfall, Mortal Online, Tera, and The Chronicles of Spellborn have free form, non targetted combat systems.   Ultima Online, Darkfall, Mortal Online, Asheron's Call, Runescape, Ryzom, and a whole host of other small titles have non template based character building models.   Asheron's Call, Ultima Online, and Darkfall are all seamless worlds.

So whats NCSoft bringing to the table this time that is so unique that everyone should be in love with this opus?

Every game I listed has over 1 million subscribers?   Really?  Age of Conan has more like 100,000 - a dropoff of over 800% from release.   Guess youre wrong there too.

For those games that do have over 1 million subscribers, grand!  You know that Bangladesh has a population of over 10 million.  India has over 200 million.   Does that mean those are great places to live?   Nope.   Back to the games topic now... if numbers dont necessarily equal greatness, then over 1 million subscribers can be total abject morons, MMO addicts, gold farming accounts, and newbies taken in by hype.

Which is precisely what they are.

    Next!

NCSoft must be doing something right for making you sheeps believe that the next MMO they'll make will be the best thing ever over and over again. Someday you may learn..

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Real fight always end up on the ground. the trained one who do karate, kung fu or what ever, vs guy that is bigger on the street, once the fight start, both of them stand up and fight. After a moment, the bigger guy will get on rage because all his strike get block and he always get countered so easily. The bigger guy will then rush at the karate kid or something. Since he is bigger, he will be able to make him drop to the ground and the one who win on the ground win the fight. Its a faq that jiu jitsu and judo are the best fighting style for streetfighting. Fighting style like kung fu are made for movies. Any smart person should rely on jiu jetsu or what ever style that rely on grapple. If you want to do streetfight while standing for the whole fight, you better carry a baseball bat im telling you.

The video i posted early are realy streetfight(I mean, no rules) The kung fu man didnt had a chance because the jiu jetsu guy make him drop on the ground once the fight started. So all the his kung fu tecnic that he learn for so many years was useless in that fight.

When you see a real one on one fight, kung fu master vs kung fu master or karate vs karate, both will try to focus on the open way to strike, block while standing or stuff like that. Both on them in a one on one wait for the right timing. The jiu jitsu or any grapple style fighters dont have time for those bull shit. Once the fight start, they will jump on you and make you fall on the ground to end it the fastest way possible.

There are millions of faq that will prove you that grapple fighting style are the best for streetfight.
