Just want ed to see if everyone enjoyed
Guildwars as much as i did. I think it has potential to have as big of a fanbase a Eq and has a bit of originality to it. Sort of taking aspects of Diablo and mixing with a greater roleplaying aspect. If you missed the preview you can still beta the game buy preordering the game and getting a game key at your local game retailer. The beta will be running on the weekends from what ive read until the release date Feb 1 05.

Here, this will help
the game is great
almost no grinding
nice quests
cool grafics
one of the best pvp system
GW has almost everything what any current MMORPG have (xept endless grind)
dont liked run animation
and mage spells if u play male mage...looks abit homo
after world preview i preordered it
I would agree with the above, however, I wouldn't say it has everything any current mmorpg has except the grind.
There is no player crafting. There is really not much in the way of exploration (yet). Even so, you are pretty much restricted to stay on paths, you do not really have the freedom of travel within the zone as you would in say DAoC or Everquest.
There is no roleplaying. I dont expect there will be any, it is a PvP game with focus on guild, err, wars. You can't even walk into buildings, they are just there as background. I'm sure this will change, or be added for the final, though.
I haven't gotten the feeling that there is any real epic scale storyline behind the game, again, leading me to believe there will not be much roleplaying. Most mmorpgs have a central storyline or epic struggle, maybe i missed it during both preview events, or maybe it just isn't in the game yet. I am eagerly awaiting the final release.
Overall I can say that Guild Wars is a great game so far, totally fun to play. It will be a successful MMO, but I stick to my guns when I agrue that it is no mmorpg.
u can explore alot
u r not restricted to quests area
there is a lil bit crafting..kind of)
but about roleplaying...i think u can do it
the ppl making roleplay not game itself ( be in good clan..or even evil ..up to u)
GW is still a mmorpg
sure not that epic like eq or eq2 will be
but the games like wow or daoc arent that epic too
not sure about wow
loved it
i can really see this game being a huge hit somewhere along the lines of D2 and such...
i mean... that's what it is bassically... a beefed up version of D2 (that's a good thing )
the quests kicked ass... i never really enjoyed questing in any type of ORPG's (MMORPG's*), but GW does it well...
buying it

I thought the game was so-so. Overall it was bland and unsatisfying, the PvP was kinda fun... for about 30 minutes, if PvP is the games selling point then goodluck to them. The graphics were nice, not great but definitely good. Even with no monthly fee I wouldn't consider buying GW, actually I wouldn't play the game if it was totally free.

Yet another insightful, constructive post by Clever_Glove.
Thanks for your opinions, they're worth just as much as anyone elses you like to insult and berate on this sight.
Sorry if I insulted your game, Clever. You know what, I take it all back, Guild Wars is the best game EVER MADE, EVER.
For anyone else who wishes to express they're opinions in a post that ASKS FOR YOUR OPINION, think twice or get flamed by Mr. Glove.
Like we really give a crap what he thinks, anyway LOL
well i guess mankind never changes , they have to have a side to fight for ...be it psx vs dreamcast
or Gw lovers vs Gw "is no mmorpg"

GW is a part time MMO. You are restricted in where you can go and what you can do. Graphics are great, the character balance is there for PvP, but overall I dont think that GW would hold my attention anywhere near as good as a full MMO.
Linear character development coupled with the fact that no player crafting means that each combo of classes will be almost exactly the same. All E/M will be near replicas to each other etc etc. Overall character customization when compared to most other MMO is severly lacking.
Albeit this was a weekend long "beta" but atm the endgame eludes me.
first lemme say i think it was cool how they had a world preview event. I was hyped i could download Guildwars and try it without having to get into beta or anything, i wish more mmorpg's did that. So thanks to the makers on that
As for the game itself, it was great to look at, the graphics were really well done. Unfortunately thats the most positive thing i could say about it. Lemme stipulate everything i say here on out by saying i wasnt a huge fan of the Diablo's. I initially enjoyed both of them, but that soon wore out to mindless clicking and repetition to the point where i could only play them like in 1 hour intervals every other week if that. Its very similar to how CoH became so repetetive to me, then again i'm a fan of the more traditional mmorpg's that are more multi-faceted with alot more depth in character customization and progression so if you get sick of fighting lets say, you could do someting else. Whereas i'd say Diablos, Guildwars, and CoH are more action-focused rpg's that take out alot of the depth in favor of easier, straight-forward gameplay. So thats more a matter of preference.
I do wish the makers of Guildwars luck in their success, but i really hope games in general dont go in that direction. I think it would be a step back instead of a step forward in the evolution of mmorpg's or games in general. Maybe the audience of gamers justifies that direction, i dunno, but i know i wont be purchasing Guildwars mainly because its very similar to Diablo2.
tell me the trick..how can u post in closed threads?=)
or just say ur mods opinion...
only thing i agree with u is more action focused
but is a right thing i think
and its mmorpg enough like any other games
sure isnt the same epic feel like in EQ
for epic feel i can play eq2 ...and for PvP guild wars
if i play both i dont need to buy WOW)
WoW will never be like eq2 in PvE
and i hope all games will go in this direction like gw
its like endgame of any current mmorpgs ( xept eq2 and maybe some other what i dont knew)
many games has privat dungeons
in big univesum if u wonna kill some boss mobs
they are camped 24/24 by uber 1337 guilds
sw is like private dungeons for all
and u can communicate with everyone who is online....make a team together and do some quests or explore

ah) ok
"and i hope all games will go in this direction like gw"
This kind of statement is so close minded, not everyone wants an action LAN RPG. Guild War is the best game for you fine... the best for you is not the best for everyone
May i remind you, you actually accused me of being a Ryzom Fanboy (when i did say the game had problems and i did say its all personnal opinion)... Stop acting like a GW Fanboy.
If you didn't give a crap why did you post a response? If your try to act tolerant why are you trying to retaliate?
further, why didn't you deal with the subject matter? I addressed each of your points with a counter point, yet you have only address me. How good can your argument possibly be if you can stand a little heat?
Further GW does have weaknesses. Mainly it doesn't foster socializing. I consider that to be a HUGE strength. Yet if your someone that wants to impose your personal life on complete strangers, you'll hate it.
Guild Wars is made a type of player, it's not a game you could enjoy because it aimed at a different audience. It's like being into wrestling and complaining the symphony is boring.
Game are made for certian markets. You've admitted your not the audance for GW. Much how I would hate "A tale in the Desert". It doesn't make it a bad game.
If you can't take the heat, keep your mouth shut. If your points are valid, they will stand up under pressure.

Haha trust me i'm not a mod. I dunno what happened, the thread wwas open when i started typing and realized it got locked after i submitted.
I wont argue with you because theres no point in arguing with people who want to believe in something thats not true. No amount of reason will convince fanboys of a game otherwise, but thats why there is such a term.
I have no reason to hate Guildwars or talk bad about it. I went into it objectively like i said, played it, and really came away bored. I was honestly expecting much more than that from all the hype. And if it is in Alpha, i'll give them alot of credit for it being very playable, for me at least.
And i truly hope WoW isnt that shallow, or i'm going to be very disappointed in it. At least there will be EQ2 to fall back on...
Clever...your signature of evolution really I am suprised it hasn't caused argument.
I disagree once you hit WoW and EQ2.
I disagree about it all.

Reminds me of Phantasy Star Online. Except PSO was more fun.
I thought the game was okay, but I wouldn't really call it an MMORPG, not with so few people in one zone. It was more like a single player RPG game, I thought, something like Dungeon Siege where you have a group of characters who go from one adventure to the next without really being able to deviate.
Actually, thinking about it, its a lot like an online souped up version of Dungeon Siege.
The thing I didn't like about Guild Wars was the character generation. I was basically forced into playing something I didn't want to play. Like, say I wanted to play a pure healer, I couldn't have a Primary class of Monk and a Secondary of Monk, I had to be something like Monk/Fighter, or Monk/Elementalist, and I didn't enjoy that. I wanted to play a pure fighter at one point, but always ended up having to pick some sort of magic.
Thats my only two gripes with it though. Other than that, I quite enjoyed it for the short time I got to play.
Heres what the evolution of MMORPGs should be
UO--->Guildwars--->DnL, Mourning, Darkfall
I didn't really like it that much. I'm just going to list out what I didn't like because the list is so long.
1. Crafting sucks. (at least so far)
2. Instancing missions not good. All missions are instanced and able to do with one group, kind of takes away from the sense of accomplishment.
3. PvP needs much improvement.
4. No help in game.
5. No goals...where am I going in the game? Obviously with a storyline or some form of RP you get a sense of direction and progression through the game. With GW I got none of that. Why do I need to lvl? So I can get better equipment and get stronger? Why? So I can get better at PvP? What was it all for? Hopefully not just so I can do another, harder instanced mission. There was no sense that I was actually accomplishing something by lvling up or going on another boring mission. There was no sense of great journeys and big monsters to go kill or maybe that the GW world was in peril. Nada. Oh goodie I'm lvl 20 now and I got good equipment so I can go PvP and kill everyone...lame.
6. Graphics were par at best. Nothing great here. Character models were lame, though armor looked nice I must say.
The list goes on but I'm sure that's enough for now. At least with offline RPG's like this there is a storyline you follow and there is some type of quest in store for you. This game gets a big thumbs down.
No flaming please, this is only my opinion of the game. A lot of others liked it.
Though generally, as far as MMORPG style of games go, I found it a little boring as far as the exploration I did; in everything but PvP. This is the frist game though where PvP didn't completely turn me off and was at least somewhat fun - at least in the arena which I tried.
Though some classes seeemd to be somewhat out of balance it was close enough that most battles lasted a little while except when someone was using an exploit, of which there were obviously a few major ones and insta death hits. Of course, there were some classs mixes that were hard for a whole group to take out but I assumed they had some better items.
But, no matter the group or class I tried out I felt that I at least had a chance at winning and even some groups, where we were lvl 15-17 against lvl 19-20 and felt like we could not win, still provided a win on occasion. PvP is alos fast with mostly no down time and it is a good way to meeet others to find decent players that match your play style that you may want to group with.
I did try a mission but found it didn't provide much fun. I never did get any decent items nor did I get any decent crafting or customization of items stuff, but I may have missed something in how to find these or do these things in game. Basically, it was just fight some mobs and get some items to sell, buy a couple new skills, then go back to the arena. Maybe spent 1-2 hours trying out the explorationa and didn't find much.
Having said that I didn't see that it had lasting appeal, but for me would be the type of game I would play for a while, get bored and move on, but find myself picking it up on occasion for some fun. Kind of MMORPG light or a decent occasional weekend game.
