Banndor, my clan had a little death squad of like 6 people rolling around last night, and we saw your corpse in two different spots stripped pretty bare last night, and we didn't kill ya. What was going on bro? Hehe.

Lol, horrible luck I guess. I was out running around looking for chaos chests and just exploring. It seems to be my luck that I run through some bushes and happen across some huge dude riding a mount murdering someone...and that someone was me.

Yes you are right, but have you seen a lot  of negative comments lately?

We know this game has it's fault, but we honestly think its good. If you are tired of the normal mmos and have the extra money, why not try Darkfall. I've played a lot of mmo's the last 10 years, but Darkfall is different. This was the first time I felt like a totally new player since my UO days in 98. I used to wait for the next big mmo hit, but I don't care anymore. I have found my home for the next years.

If you complain about the state of mmo's without even have tried Darkfall, you should be quiet. Game like this is the only way to change the deadlock we have at the mmo marked these days.

The problem is, I do not have extra 50$, and even if I had, Id rather spend on something im SURE to enjoy it rather then risk with a non-mainstream game. Id rather take my wife to a restaurant, or go watch Avatar. Im happy you enjoy your stay in DF, but let me ask you this - have you ever bought a game and hated it in your first month? If no, then you are extremely lucky. If yes, then wouldn't it be better if you have tried the game first, realized it wasn't for you and saved yourself a 50$?

None of what you said or what DF is advertised to be, guarantees that I (or anyone else) will like it. You risked your 50$ and you liked it. You won. Gratz. But I read comments from people who do not like the game, who quit it 1-2 weeks in and who ask "Why oh why did I never listened to the critics and bought into the hype of this game".

(You as in, whoever is complaining that $50 is a lot but wasted so much money on other MMOs)

There is a very big contradiction when someone says "Well I bought WoW, WAR, AoC, Aion but I didn't like them...and now I want to try DarkFall but there's no Trial?" Really? So you're ok spending $50 for the same old same old knowing you won't like it yet is afraid to spare $50 for DarkFall, which is clearly a different game that you are more likely to like if you are tired of the same old same old. Doesn't make sense.

You are missing the point. Investing 50$ is totally different then WASTING 50$. If I buy WoW and spend 3 years in it, its totally different then spending 50$ on DF and quitting in 3 days.

I'm sorry, but are you crazy? The whole POINT of my post is to PREVENT spending 50$ on something I do not like. I do not spend 50$ on anything before trying it first. If I do spend 50$ on something, its because I LIKE IT. Get it now?

I think there is also an other side .... as long as people keep buying quadriple B games ( bad, boring, buggy, beta-state),  companies will not clean up their acts and try to improve them!

We as customers should make clear what is acceptable and what isn't .... best way to do that is to let our wallet talk.

Regarding Darkfall ... a few of my mates played it and say it's very intens ... due to the fact that i can only play small bursts of time and not really have the time to group up ... i wonder if it will be enjoyable.

Yes, there is that too. Whenever people dump their "extra 50$", get disappointed and leave, they encourage crappy companies to keep publishing such games. Remember Dark and Light anyone?

For me, wasted 50$ is like 2-3 cases of beer, or a gift for my wife/kids, or an extra payment for my mortgage, or its a saving that goes towards my kids education, or a deposit towards my new car cause my old one is dying out. There are million of reasons where the money could go. If you don't mind wasting 50$ once in a while, send it my way. I will send you back a nice post card every time.

Oh come on, you can say that about any money you spend on entertainment. And no I'm not rich, nor do mommy and daddy pay for my bills.

The way I look at it $100-$200 (assuming you don't buy games like a 17 year old), is not too much to drop annually on a hobby you really enjoy. Even if the odd game doesn't suit your tastes.

I've been doing this since my Apple 2e days. However I will admit that mommy and daddy were funding my gaming back then :)

I dont know, maybe its me, but I REALLY HATE spending 50$ on something with a good chance of me hating that purchase. I did risk like that before, but I stopped after I burned on few games, last being Vanguard. No... more...gambling! Period.

I'm not sure why people are giving jimmyman a hard time on not spending $50 on DF. If he doesn't want to spend the money, that's his prerogative.

I think a trial, if done right, could definitely help DF's sub numbers. They need some kind of trial island, separate from the mainland.

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

    Just a few FYI's

Most MMO's do not offer trails within the first year.

If they needed to I assure you they would. Its not like the idea is completely news to them they are making the choice not to do it becuase they dont have to..

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

TO OP: my first "wow" experience with DF was when our small gang went on a raft ride. We got attacked by a wall of mana missles and late at night on a 30" monitor it felt very real.

Yes, it's a PVP game. In fact it's not the kind of game that you will be left alone easily even in the most "safe" places. There are of course PVP "gods " in darkfall but they are not casual players. So the only solution is to be a clan member or hunt in groups with your mates as i do.

However i have the 10 day trial card for you.  PM me for details.
