The Truth About Aeria Games and Last Chaos - by a former GameSage

Either way, to "save" any of the Aeria games would mean a restructuring of the entire company which guess what -- It ain't gonna happen. When that K guy or whatever gets fired, a new asshole takes his place, and maybe it's a little better and most likely it will be a little worse or end up the same. Congratulations, you achieved absolutely nothing!
It's blatantly obvious that Aeria is corrupt, didn't even need to be told. If you look at how they do their business, you buy AP to essentially play their games. It's made in such a way that to continue to play, you need to invest in some AP before you actually make it somewhere worthwhile in their games.
Also to the OP, John is right when he says GS is an unpaid job. Aeria Points don't equal real $$$. Just because you make X amount of Aeria Points, doesn't instantly give them a financial value. Aeria Points aren't going to pay the bills are they?
Look. I can see you're frustrated with the way that they've managed their games and that you want to see a light at the end of the tunnel but it's honestly not there. You can't somehow change the entire company or sabotage them.

Anyway, to me the quality of a game can't be solely judged by a few people's comments, even if they are GM or GS.
I don't and have no intention to play any of the Aeria games but this post doesn't show me the Aeria games are bad.
You don't have to take my word for it, ask any of the countless high lvl players that have quit LC. Read through my post again. I listed a bunch of reasons why the game itself is seriously messed up and the list gets bigger with each new patch. lol
And actually, the GM (Krash) got fired for being too close to the community. I guess he was supposed to treat us like credit card numbers the way ksilent does.
The person that was suspended for criticizing Aeria was me. I temporarily lost my GS tags for it but I told them I didn't want them back when they offered to make me a GS again. It was a matter of principle for me.

Well, no, you don't get money for being a GS. But it is also not a normal volunteer job in the traditional sense of the word. You do get plenty of incentives for being a GS.

But they should be. I've played some of the other free games such as Combat Arms, PW, Rohan, RunesofMagic, etc... And as I said, none of them so blatantly exhibit the same kind of corruption as Aeria.
I will say this give it time, you play enough of most of the f2p games and you will see the same pattern. I've been burned by ijji's corruption in the past so I can understand where you're coming from. I hate to say it but to this point, i have never seen a ftp grinder that wasn't simply a giant pyramid scheme. Funny thing is I've been treated just as badly by SOE and NCsoft lol. I like that you're fighting the good fight though they say every dissatisfied customer turns away 10 people while every happy customer might tell 1. From my own experience this is kinda true, as a former SWG vet I've never forgotten or forgiven SOE for what they did and will never let them benefit off me financially again.

No because its not about me. Like I said, I became a GS in the first place because of my love of the LC community. I did it to help people and stand up for the community when I needed to. I wanted to give them a real voice in the GS program. And even now, its about the community. The game is already dead to me but that doesn't mean I won't still fight for the other players like I always have.
Its not me vs the man, its many people vs the man. And the "man" will be taken down in this case. We have the unity, support, strength of will, and resources to make it happen. Ksilent will lose this fight in the end. What happens after that remains to be seen I guess.

I realize that LC isn't their only game, but they don't really give a damn. Companies like Aeria Games will tell you what you wanna hear and "silence the infidels" if you will. Sorta like a dictatorship with all the censorship flying around. Sure there's the few disgruntled comments here and there, but most of the threads are "happy" or at the very worst "troubled"... I just don't see them going anywhere any time soon. That's all. Has SOE changed their ways? No. They're still in the process of screwing themselves over. I didn't even think it was possible but they sure do like to prove me wrong! Same goes for other publishers like Activision and EA.

mm one thing is sure by the time aeria or any game maker realise they made a mistake its often too late countless mmo have
came and went since world of warcraft was released you know what wow is still on the top
the only closest game iasnt an mmo at all its a first person shooter .in fact not one but a bunch then you got strategy game a la warcraft 3 cant recall the title

* You have to spend either thousands of dollars to get high lvl or years of your life. It takes SEVEN years to reach the current level cap (165) without spending a forture on AP.
* Before you can even BEGIN to level you need to spend weeks (or months if you don't buy AP) gaining the massive amount of skill points you'll need.
* The game has many many many bugs, most of which don't get fixed.
* New patches add more bugs.
* We have people who test the new patches for bugs but when they tell Aeria that there are problems, Aeria ignores them and adds the patch anyway.
* All classes only have one gender and race available to them
* Some classes are hopelessly broken.
* They just added a new class that is too overpowered. But that isn't a big problem since you need like 85,000 skill points for it. lol So most players aren't going to spend that kind of time on it.
* Castle Sieges (similar to DAOC in a way) have some serious glitches and exploits. And Aeria allows some guilds (the ones that spend a lot of money on AP) to take advantage of exploits even after people post VIDEOS of them doing it. As a GS, I even witnessed it myself on one occasion. And nothing was done after I reported it.
* Which brings us to the biggest problem. The fact that Aeria lets hackers, scammers, account sharing people, and those committing other bannable offenses keep their accounts if they spend a lot of money on AP. Plenty of vids and ss have been posted about this and nothing is done.

No, they didn't fix SWG and the game is a ghosttown. Aeria won't listen and LastChaos will die just like SWG. Eventually companies will stop and think , "hey we're losing money here everytime a game dies, we need to reconsider how we do things."

I agree. I played SWG up until the NGE and it was one of my favorite mmorpgs. I was even there for the famous Bria protest.
I've actually been trying to organize something similar for Last Chaos right now.
And thanks, I noticed that I did turn a few people away from being potental Aeria customers so at least I accomplished something positive. I just wish it had never come to this, much like I wish the NGE had never happened on SWG. But since I can't control the stupid mistakes companies make, I can at least help other people know about those mistakes so that they won't waste their time or money on those games.

PW, RoM, and CA aren't anywhere near as bad as this game. Most of the things (other than some bugs) I described don't apply to any of them. I've played all three and never saw the things i've seen here at LastChaos.

You are describing basically all the cash shop games nowadays.
PW, RoM, and CA aren't anywhere near as bad as this game. Most of the things (other than some bugs) I described don't apply to any of them. I've played all three and never saw the things i've seen here at LastChaos.
You will change your opinions in a year or 2. Newer cash shop games don't seem to cost too much (if you don't consider $1000 a year is much) but give it a year or 2 you will hear all sort of disgruntled people telling you they wasted 1000s.
I want to make a very important point to you and I want you to stop posting about this helpless cause after it unless it's to comment on my point.
You're complaining about the corruption, but you supported the corruption and told the lies they gave you when you had the job to keep the job. It wasn't until your friend was fired for mysterious circumstances (which is normal, we are in a recession. Even gaming companies are suffering) that you decided to take matters into your own hands, probably attempting to rally support to give him his job back, and get yourself fired and then IP banned for trying to spread the "truth" about Aeria.
It's your own fault. You should have known the company would do that. They don't want the behind the scenes stuff getting out. It isn't the public's business. Just like friend A (management) and friend B (the employees) have a secret friend C (the consumers) shouldn't know just because it isn't their business. If friend B tells friend C (it's friend A's secret after all) then friend A will cut off relation to friend B due to mistrust.

Anyway, to me the quality of a game can't be solely judged by a few people's comments, even if they are GM or GS.
I don't and have no intention to play any of the Aeria games but this post doesn't show me the Aeria games are bad.
You don't have to take my word for it, ask any of the countless high lvl players that have quit LC. Read through my post again. I listed a bunch of reasons why the game itself is seriously messed up and the list gets bigger with each new patch. lol
And actually, the GM (Krash) got fired for being too close to the community. I guess he was supposed to treat us like credit card numbers the way ksilent does.
The person that was suspended for criticizing Aeria was me. I temporarily lost my GS tags for it but I told them I didn't want them back when they offered to make me a GS again. It was a matter of principle for me.
I know what you are trying to tell us but IMO you should tell us how is the game bad according to the GM and GS instead of merely repeatedly referring to the firing.
I already did in the original post but i'll sum up the bad things again:
* You have to spend either thousands of dollars to get high lvl or years of your life. It takes SEVEN years to reach the current level cap (165) without spending a forture on AP.
* Before you can even BEGIN to level you need to spend weeks (or months if you don't buy AP) gaining the massive amount of skill points you'll need.
* The game has many many many bugs, most of which don't get fixed.
* New patches add more bugs.
* We have people who test the new patches for bugs but when they tell Aeria that there are problems, Aeria ignores them and adds the patch anyway.
* All classes only have one gender and race available to them
* Some classes are hopelessly broken.
* They just added a new class that is too overpowered. But that isn't a big problem since you need like 85,000 skill points for it. lol So most players aren't going to spend that kind of time on it.
* Castle Sieges (similar to DAOC in a way) have some serious glitches and exploits. See that is what I'm talking about. You talk like $1000 in a year is a lot of money for an mmo. That is actually pretty cheap compared to Last Chaos. I don't think you quite understand the amount of money people spend on LC to make it to the level caps. lol These other games aren't nearly as expensive.
I personally never spent a dime (I also never made it past lvl 100 in two years of playing) on Last Chaos because if I'm going to pay for a game, I'll just player a monthly-fee game and at least have a chance to keep up with everyone else.

You made some very big assumptions there. First of all, I never told a single lie for Aeria and I never supported the corruption. When I first started noticing some of the issues, I was one of the GSes that constantly asked them what was going on and saying I didn't agree with it. When that didn't solve the problems, I started voicing my opinions more openly in front of the community, which is eventually what got me suspended after I did it many times. I never cared about the GS job itself. If I did, I would have kept my mouth shut like some of the other GSes did. I chose to fight for the community to end the corruption and knew that i would lose my GS job.
And the economy had nothing to do with Krash being fired. Ksilent believes that krash was too close to the community for one thing. And there was backstabbing by a new GM that recently joined them. I'm guessing she was jealous of krash's popularity with the community.
And yes, krash being fired absolutely was the community's business because he was loved by all of us and because anything involving the game is our business. Without us, THERE IS NO GAME.

The thing is, it's a game. It's not about who's running it. As long as the game is running, management could disappear altogether.

lol There was no way I could win the way you set that up. First I was as bad as Aeria if I pretended the corruption didn't exist to keep my GS job and then I'm full of myself when I say I spoke out against it. You were going to flame me regardless of how I answerd the question. lol Interesting logic. Maybe you should consider applying for GM at Aeria. You'd fit in nicely if that's how you discuss things with people.
Yes, the GMs and GSes can be replaced but who replaces them can impact the game and the community. When you take away a GOOD GM that actually makes the game more fn for players and replace him with someone that doesn't do the same thing, it hurts the game and the lose players. The same can be said about losing good GSes like myself, Kay, Agrona, Sabbath, the list goes on and on. And we get replaced by GSes that only care about the free AP and don't actually do things to make he community better and the game more fun. Again, LC loses players.
And you're right that the game can't survive without its players. That is the point I tried to make. Without us there is no game.
