No I wasnt looking for a MMO feel. I just wanted a nice RPG. Iam bored of WoW atm, so I wanted to play a good single player RPG.

This game just plain old sucks.

The Combat is lame. I want Hack n Slash, not sum stupid auto Attack/Move crap.

The game feels like Guild Wars' PvE if it had been made Offline based.

The Cut Scenes are just too much!! I want to fight, not spend 10mins of watching blood stained characters talk to one another. I spend more time in Scenes in this game, then I do in Combat.

Also the Loading, makes this feel even Worst!!!!!!!!! Too Damn Slow!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, you know a game has problems, when you have to debate between play it, or Demon Soul.

This game just plain suck arse

Dude, you say this game sucks, yet everything that you list as being wrong with the game are aspects of what type of game it is.

This is not a hack and slash, it never claimed to be.

There are cutscenes and a story, if you don't like it, fine.

    Damn.

Ex. it's like saying counter-strike sucks because there are no elves. It never claimed to have any! ...Just because I want counter-strike to be elves vs. elfs, doesn't mean it sucks.

THEN WHY THE F MAKE THIS A GAME,,,,,,IF ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS MAKE A F***ING MOVIE?????!!!!!!!!!!

Because that's what they wanted to do and there is a market for it?

If you think this is bad play Indigo Prophecy... one of the better games of this(lastish) generation.

Also stay away from Heavy Rain when it comes out. Looks like it will be amazing.

But...you don't order steak and complain about steak, Bioware's direction with this game was pretty clear.

Also, you might want to stay away from some JRPGs, you might get a heart attack if Dragon Age pissed you so much.

This kid was clearly raised by a either a television or computer screen... even video games don't provide instant gratification at times little buddy.

An RPG doesnt need massive cut scenes to be an RPG, at least it didnt until the JRPG became successful. Baldurs Gate anyone? Sure it had cut scenes but not to the extent of what im hearing about DA. As for the "hack and slash" RPG's ive always considered them more an action game with RPG elements.

RPG games do not mean role playing. it is just a term borrowed from DnD's exp system and character development. Many RPG games you cant even name your character.

Role playing games do not mean... role playing?!???! I think RPG games are not your type of game, unless of course rpg does not mean role playing!? I know it has been said 15 times already but you can just press escape if you don't like the dialogues; keep that in mind instead of saying you have to wait 1000000 hours before killing something. Otherwise I think the game is awesome and the story line too, though one of the things I don't like is that the game does not have any replay value. In my opinion that's ok because the first time I played it I was really immersed in the world and that's what i'm looking for when playing an rpg.

    the game is crap!

Oh and just because you can't name a character does not mean that you aren't roleplaying.

    How is that exactly?

Well son, you are roleplaying as... *gasp* ...that character.

Tro, may I recommand you Divinity 2?

It seems that you'd enjoy it.

DA:O isn't really a bad game, just not your style, thankfully, there are plenty of action-oriented ones(like Divinity 2).

    Yes Man/Lady

thats what iam saying. The Cut Scenes are Over Done, and the gameplay doesnt even make up for it.

It Uses the same format as Guild Wars (But Worst)

(Auto Attack + Auto Follow+ Few Spells)

    .

They aren't overdone. The people that say they are probably weren't looking for this type of game in the first place. Most cutscene heavy games have longer (and poorer quality) cutscenes than dragon age: origins.

It's like the people in MMO's that don't read any quest text or pay attention to anything other than the accept button, yet they go on to complain about the lack of story.

The cutscenes are a part of the game and are there for a reason. If it bores you, then you might not like the game. Does this equal a bad game? no.

The cutscenes may bore one person, yet intrigue the next. The game is still good either way, just catered to different preferences.

The problem seems to me, with regards to the action part, that some people just don't know how to play or are so narrow in their scope that they can't see the forest from the trees.

Dragon age as a LOT of action. But if you play on ultra hard or something where micromanaging your characters is needed it is going to be a lot of pausing. I played completely on easy but with minimal pausing and there was quite a lot of action during fights with few pauses. Especially if you use the tactics tools.

play on easy. it is there for minium pauses and is very challenging when you don't pause. really.

here is a you tube video with one of the boss fights. Peopel can notice that there is some pausing but the player is pretty much keeping the action going. Interesting to me is that I played this fight completely different and it does not resemble anything that I did. Which is a good thing.

Here is an example of a nice finishing move mechanic that happens in DAO. They are especially neat when fighting the dragons. Just something that happens which makes the fightts a bit more fun.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzaaerftGiE&feature=related

Here are some cut scene examples.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzaaerftGiE&feature=related

this one is violent at the end.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XIexo-lsHQ&feature=related

This one is an example of one of the longer interactions. happens clost to the beginning of the human story. If you can stand this then you can stand Dragon Age. Also, a point of note, the Son  as well as the Servant go to the study. Whether you are male or female you can approach them in the study and end up with a romantic liaison later in the night. Nothing X rated mind you.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeH1XwZdGpE&feature=related

Another example at the very start of the Human origin story.

Again, if you can take this then the dialogue scenes won't kill you.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of-KvJDDVTI&feature=related

Also, as a point of note, there seem to be three types of dialogue choices. Those that can take the story into one direction or another as far as what happens to characters or provinces, etc, Those that give different types of information that may or may not lead to more dialogue choices and those that are just for role play flavor.

I'm sorry but this whole topic is just pointless.

If you don't like a game then it's the game's fault.

And of course it's boring and crap.

    Sure, whatever you say.

    /sarcasm off

    No.

Your reasonings behind stating that DA:O is a bad game is what I find fault in.

You are stating that DA:O is a bad game because you do not like the playstyle.

Please realize that  because you do not like something does not mean it is bad.

Hell, I don't like vanilla ice-cream... I think it's boring. Although millions of other people like it and I'm OK with that. It's still good ice-cream.

    Agree.

     /Head Bang

Damn, you know a game has problems, when you have to debate between play it, or Demon Soul.

This game just plain suck arse

Dude, you say this game sucks, yet everything that you list as being wrong with the game are aspects of what type of game it is.

This is not a hack and slash, it never claimed to be.

There are cutscenes and a story, if you don't like it, fine.

    Damn.

Ex. it's like saying counter-strike sucks because there are no elves. It never claimed to have any! ...Just because I want counter-strike to be elves vs. elfs, doesn't mean it sucks.

as I do not have the game.

So in your opinion the cut scenes arent excessive but you are one that likes cut scenes? Im not trying to be an asshole here just trying to figure out if I want to spend the money on this game. It really doesnt sound like something I can get through.

    [Mod Edit}

A 2 minute cutscene may be overdone for one person, while a 30 second cutscene may be overdone for another.

While a game can contain many cutscenes, there are varying degrees of how the cutscenes are implimented (quality/length/interactivity). People have different preferences.

This game revolves around interactive cutscenes to move the story along and provide choices.

Damn the shooting in this FPS is overdone, I shoot way to often. This game sucks, I hate shooting.

Well, if you went out and bought the game without doing research on the gameplay either by youtube videos or a review, then more fool you sir.  The smart thing to have done (and what i do) is to watch videos of how the game plays,  and read the storyline behind the game, as this is an RPG that is high up on the check list.   The cutscenes are there to develop the storyline by visuals, the characters in the cutscenes talk with emotion in the voice acting which is vital to listen to when making valuable decisions in dialogue; also adding to the roleplay feel of the game. The cutscenes are a very interesting part of the game for me, without it I would be running around doing pointless quests.

Really sir, if you didn't do your homework before purchase or the company promised you something you didnt receive. Well there isnt much room for you to complain at all...   Also to add, the 'Dragon Age is crap' opinion, is exactly that, an opinion. I think differently, and many sites have rated the game with 9.5's+.... but once again opinions. I don't see why you posted this?... im failing to see your gain...
