I honostly would like to see those of you who feel Avatar(the Movie) would make a great MMORPG to explain what is seen by you that fits a MMORPG or how and what feature's you think might make it a great MMORPG, sorry I aint seeing it.
1) Avatar is set in an open-ended universe. All we know is that humans have ruined earth, and that they're looking at a new planet called Pandorum to extract materials from.
2) As above, there's a clear fight over resources in the universe of Avatar. This is key to most MMORPGs with any interest in PVP/RVR.
3) There are two very distinct factions, the humans and the Navi. There's also a huge amount of room for different classes/skillsets from both.
4) Avatar is a new piece of work, it's not based on anything else. This means that, given the rights from the guys that made it (ie James Cameron), there's a lot of room for manoeuvre in terms of what races there are, what items/equipment there are, towns, cities, ships, and so on. While the groundwork is there, the details haven't been set in stone yet.
Just 4 points I can think of - I would write more but need to get back to work now!

Hmm then we could aswell make what ever movie into a MMORPG this way.

Not really, it does fit your normal multiplayer game, which is already released and playeble that way.

Again this could be aplied to about any movie about what ever, meant at the amount of room for different classes/skillsets.

Just making up random classes that we did not see in the movie nor the game simply doesn't work for me, there are more then enough IP's that would fit a MMORPG, this one isn't one of them, else it would be a very limited MMORPG, as like I said if we just randomly make up classes than any movie could become a MMORPG.
But then again I know many seem to just want a multiplayer game with more people we currently can handle, yet 20vs20 seems to work okay with the current game
I suggest most of you who are intrested in this movie to become a MMORPG to simply enjoy the multi/sinlgeplayer game we already can play.

Agree with the OP. Loved the film, but that aside, the universe Avatar is set in would lend itself perfectly to an MMORPG.

Pandora was a beautifully realized world, though I fail to see how an MMO could make it justice now, or even in 10 years from now.
No thanks.
The idea, posted several times already, is full of fail...
