... The CE are only sold out (I doubt they are, Im not gonna research it) because Cryptic offers a plethra of items individual to where you get the game. So people buy multiple copies of the game so they can have a certain uniform and a certain shaped ship. Most expensive cash shop ever.
On another board I visited one poster admitted to spending $250 so far on collectors editions for that reason.
If you go through my post history I leaked some of this stuff out before the NDA dropped. I have played the game in closed beta and during open beta. Everything the OP says is true. This game is sorta like DDO in the fact that they will both go F2P. Lets hope it does not end up like Tabula Rasa. In my earlier post I said something to the effect of this game appealing to elderly gamers with poor twitch motor skills. Ground combat is that bad. Space combat is duller than Star Fox on SNES. Star fox was and still is the shit. This game is like "ehh, no.... this does no tfeel like how it should" Not bashing this game so much as I am warning you to not buy this game. Oh god, yes, clOver, you are so right. The preorder goodies stack in STO. I ALMOST bought 2 preorders myself but thought twice about it and, now, while playing beta, I am glad I held off. Good point.
People complaining about the combat and the way the game works it need to consider watching at least one episode of Star Trek before the continue complaining. It's not EVE where you click on a target then orbit them while auto-firing. It's not Battle Over Europe or X-Wing series where you're in a dog-fight with the enemy. Star Trek ships don't do barrel rolls. It's about a strategic form of space combat, with manipulation of system resources and various other abilities which become available as you level up and/or gain more bridge officers. If you think the combat is a simple "instant kill or instant death" then you're not playing the game right.
If you don't like Star Trek, then you probably might want to pass on this game... If you don't know crap about Star Trek or the game, you should probably read up on how it works as much as possible before you jump into it expecting "WoW in Space". It's not; it won't be. The game could use some alterations, fixes, and enhancements. But there are people who enjoy it, and like being a part of an MMO based in the Star Trek universe.
If you don't like playing it while you're in the BETA, that's fine. Pass on the game. But don't go saying things like it's "failed" or it is a bad game because it didn't meet your fantasy expectations that have no basis. You people don't read, don't research, don't listen... I'll be glad not to have you in the game.
Yep game failing, thats why the servers are always full all the CE are sold out as are the Pre order allotments fro every GS store in NA and people are screaming because they can't wait to log in a drink more from the epic cup of fail.
There are people who will buy this game just to have the box with the Star trek logo on it - because it's part of the Star Trek history now.
There are people on this board who will admit to buying every Star trek PC game just because it is Star Trek.
That is why the Star Trek IP is so valuable.
Sorry all I hear on this thread is blah blah blah justification blah justification Wowzor is still the bestzor.../rolleyes.
