Recently just started WoW for the first time. I've been playing F2P MMO's for quite a while, and now I've finally got an income again, I decided to try out P2P ones, see how they compare kind of thing. WoW is... how to say it... polished? Compared to others I've played, it's very smooth while playing. I'm going to stick with it for a while, see how it plays out for me. I know you all probably know this already, and have just grown to hate it. Well, how was it first time you played? enjoy much? I think you did cos you stuck with it till "the end". Anyway, just my little bit... am trying to post more is all.
I think if you were to compare most free to play mmos to pay to play ones you would notice them to be a lot more polished . Its not just true of WoW . You do make a good point though . Its hard to say what I would think of it if I had stared today instead of 5 years ago . I remember what went before and found that to be a lot more enjoyable than what is on offer today . Maybe in 5 years you may feel the same way . lol . I'm pleased to hear your having fun in it . After all thats what these games are all about . Once they stop being fun its time to quit .

I agree with you to be honest, but I've played some P2P MMO's where I've found myself going back to F2P ones simply because I enjoyed it more. Some MMO's that charge you to play their games are pretty shocking to be blunt, but that is only a small selection. While the same can go for F2P MMO's, there ARE some pretty decent ones out there.
Anyway's, yes, I agree. Once the game stops being fun, it is time to quit.

You are right. Wow is the most polished mmorpg out there. Smooth animation, nice grafix for its kind of grafix, effects, smooth animations, fun to play if u r new. The best time i ve ever had in wow was the very first 1 year. Where u were discovering things, about the game, your class. I remember i had discovered things that were not mentioned even in forums. Smart builds and combat tactics that other ppl of same didnt use.
The main problem in wow exists for the old players that are around 5 years or so, and they were waiting more things than just raid every week the same raid (icc), and just do some arenas.

To be very blunt, I think once you've been playing a game for 5 years, you'll have hit the maximum in most things, done everything that appeals to you, and like you say, all there is to do then is raid. It's probably not the most appealing thing once you know it like the back of your hand. It's the experiencing it all for the first time that's the exciting bit for me, I like learning about the game while playing it and watching my character grow, through mistakes and struggle from bad choices.
But what I think is that pretty much every game is like this. Once you've done everything, and only repeatable things are left, surely that is what a lot of people are calling "end game".
Or is it that it's expected for new content to be constantly added to keep the longer term players, playing longer? If so, I'm sure Blizzard still wouldn't expect someone to stay for 5 years, and still find all the old stuff just as thrilling. 5 years is a good run, look back on what you enjoyed and just try and find something that will replace it.

Concerning wow im still enjoying pvp part (arena).Pve has its challenges in raids its just for my gear i have motivation to play only icc 10 and icc 25 every week. 2 raid runs only per week is just not much. Personally in my opinion after 5 years of evolvment wow should have ... well evolve much much more.

Forgot to mention u were right. From boredom some times i tried some other mmorpg's but for various reasons didnt find what i was hoping/expecting. Im a player jack of all trades which means i like to do everything. Pve, Pvp, crafting ,roleplay etc. The only game i havent tried ever was Uo( shame on me),daoc, and well Darkfall Online which will be my next station. What i liked in 1st year of wow, was the adventuring, exploring things and areas and a good roleplay atmosphere ( i was playing in a Rp-Pvp server). From what i understand DF has all i ask one way or another (crafting needs help from av) and im gathering money to buy account . If DF wont work ,i ll give in the next months Mortal ONline a shot. If it fails too back to wow.
After 5 years, the end is near for me.. There is basically nothing left to do, other then "work" to get a raid going, which I loathe.. The lack of end game content and purpose, other then ICC, is gone.. If I do one more daily of "threat/cit" I'm going to puke.. Other then the chore in finding an ICC raid run (ID system limits your options), the only other options of character advancement is doing the random daily to upgrade pieces of armor with frost emblems.. At the current rate of earning frost emblems to upgrade select pieces will take over a month PER items.. HELL, by the time I get close to being geared up for the Lich King, the expansion will be released (6 months down the road).. So why should I pay $15 a month to do random frost daily dungeon? The ONLY way I see myself staying is IF Blizz increases the frost emblem earning rate.. Example: ICC 5man on regular drop triumph emblems, so why not increase the drop of heroic ICC 5mans to FROST.. This would serve 2 problems.. 1) help people get geared up before the expansion comes out.. 2) gives an incentive for people to want to do dungeons like heroic HoR.. At this point in time the new ICC 5 man serve very little purpose.. How long did it take before the content became old news? Add a reason for people to KEEP doing them..
Get a guild that raids. Problem solved.
The fact is, currently WoW has more content than ever before.

For me, it seems that wow gets old faster, the easier gear is to get. I thought the BC pace was perfect, but now, gear is to easy and progression seems forced. Working and getting a piece of badge gear in BC was a big deal for me, now its more of a meh feeling. Im probally wierd in the fact that the glass ceiling actually made me enjoy the game more.

I got 8 months and was sick of it
Well the qualms of the OP are not really relevant. I'm sure you actually had a valid reason for quitting, this guy is whining about not being able to get raid level loot from 5-player dungeons fast enough.
With the new Voa boss and weekly raid, you gain 23 frost emblems a week, provided you do not enter ICC. I think this is quite a good rate. Besides, the Lich King will not be available to the OP if he doesn't have a raiding guild, and if he does find one, his frost emblem woes are resolved.

Actually, currently it is slower to 5-man frost badge items than it was to farm heroics for badge items in TBC.
Conquest items are too easy to get, I agree with you there. My latest character had full raid-quality epics one day into being 80, this was from running heroics and having some badges saved up.
