Mortal Online: Open Beta Begins! New Trailer Released!

StarVault AB has announced that their open-world MMOG, Mortal Online, has entered Open Beta!
StarVault is also offering a 5 Euro discount for the digital download version of the game throughout the entirety of the Open Beta phase. A major content patch is also promised to be deployed sometime during Open Beta. The patch will be focused on combat tweaks and balances, but will also add creatures and resource nodes to previously barren areas.
To kick the beta off, StarVault has released part one of a new series of trailers for Mortal Online, the first of which you can view here.

I don't understand why they do not allow the high rez in Open Beta.
The graphic look quite bad at the moment, nowhere near as good as in this trailer.
Anyone knows how to allow high resolution and high quality textures outside of the client option menu?
I downloaded the file but it says its corrupted. Any ideas?
mmm good views but where are the npc or mobs? The world look empty.
The only mobs I found so far are animals, but I cannot find any monsters or humanoid mobs...............
graphics in that trailer are exactly the same as on my computer, so you are either lying or your pc is messed up.
The graphics look the same on my computer as in the video, also you can edit the games .ini file to up the AF from 2x to 8x or 16x.
Keep looking there are Ratmen, Skeletons, Lizardmen, Terrorbirds, and more.

Is it just me or did that video feel a lot like the Darkfall promotion video that came out about 5 months prior to its release? Even the music had the same feel to it.
Does anyone know how long the open beta lasts?
no announcement yet as to how long it will be. I would guess 2 weeks or longer. They are using it as part of the beta process and not just a marketing tool. If they were using it as marketing then there marketing person should be hung from cross and left to die.

It's nice to see an MMO that has a true open beta and is not used as a pre-order marketing gimmick.
I too am getting a corrupted file. Have tried downloading with IE and Firefox, just in case there was something off. I also just ran it from the web with no luck. Are there any other locations to download the launcher?
on their website it says i still have to pay for open beta and that it starts on july20th. can anyone correct me on that? or link it? i really want to try the game.

I was getting that too, but after reading the MO forums for a bit, I was directed to http://mortal.mmogitalia.com/mews/scarica-mortal-online/ (a Mortal Online fansite) to download the beta. The download worked fine and I'm now patching

Shadowbane was a great game. A unique game.
MO is a scam, and a crap scam at that. Dark and Light was litterally better at this stage of development.
I disagree. MO knows exactly what it wants to be and its developers know exactly where they want it to be.
The game will be completely free and in open beta until release. We don't know the duration, but after seeing Closed Beta, I'm guessing OB will be a month or two long. That's plenty of time to prove it's not a scam.
It's all a matter of time now.

I am having the same problem as well. Has anyone found a solution or have any suggestions on how to fix this? Has it worked for everyone else?

I give OB two weeks tops. I honestly think OB will end this week though. They said too many times they need the cash. They cannot afford to have a long OB. Then again, I'm not so sure they can afford an OB at all considering how much whining (of which I'm a part of) is being done from different people.

The Mortal open beta is pretty much unplayable because of the lag and crashes... Ive had some fun exploring the beautifull world though.
