I think I'm going to wait. I don't want to jump into it and be left with a bad initial impression. I've been eagerly awaiting MO for a while now, so I'm willing to wait longer for it.
I'd suggest that route over the one I took by caving and pre-ordering.
Now just to wait 6 months and see if it does in fact get to a point where it could possibly be the "modern UO-style game."
This is one reason why everyone gives so much hope to DF.
I highly disagree.
Aventurine has made a phenominal amount of improvements to the game since the time of launch. It is there stalwart dedication to there title, as well as the fact that they (to a point) take the time to listen to the playerbase and the concerns expressed by there subscribers, that has made the game receive so much positive appeal as of late.
In short, they deserve it, because they earned it.

I said one, not the. I only say it because I constantly get it thrown in my face by DF players.
I bet MO would really benefit from a full 3rd-person POV. I'd at least consider playing it. But 1st-person only? Bah, I don't want my MMORPGs feeling like shallow little pew pew shooter games.
