Update. So I see a rabbit walking around in Fabernum, I attack it a few times with my hands and it keeps walking. I then followed the rabbit to the other end of the town. I got pissed because it was still alive, so I called guards on it. The rabbit was grey and the guards executed the rabbit, and I credit for killing the rabbit! Why is this still broken?

Those guards are another idiotic feature, I've never once been killed by a player, but got screwed several times by guards.
Some dudes seem to find it funny to jump in front of you while you're killing things, and other times the lag with sheathing / pulling out weapons made it so I accidentally attacked an npc (at which point everyone else in the vicinity will gladly call the guards).

The Gazelle is flagged blue in your picture, meaning someone probably tamed it. You can't attack a blue flagged anything without you getting flagged for it.
BTW, the first picture wasn't tab targeted towards the gazelle, it was towards other people. Why would the guards have executed the gazelle if it was blue?
The 2nd picture, the gazelle called guards? Even a minute after I took that screenshot, the chat was empty, meaning no one called guards against me, I just auto-died after hitting the gazelle... Gazelle probably called guards then... =P
Yeah, this looks like someones pet, the UI needs a lot of work so people don't make the mistake you did imo. Obviously among many other things that need work though.

Its possible, but someone in range of the town anywhere could have called guards for any reason and you would have died too, even if it was out of range of you.
In town isn't it considered a safe zone? or you still need to call for a guard when inside a town?
If I'm not wrong darkfall makes towers attack you if you attack an ally in town.
You have to actually type out "guards" in the chat window. There is no button for it, it is not automatic, you have to type it out. But look at the chat log in that screen shot, no one typed out "guards" so I just randomly died OR the gazelle called guards.

Seems like a flaw on the guards then try posting it on mortal's forums.
This actually sounds like an awesome feature to me, it kind of adds to the realism.
If you were to kill an animal in from of the police in the real world something similar would happen, lol granted they won't kill you but I bet they'd be pretty rough taking you down, I know i'd want to rough you up a bit :P
Plus they are overpowered for the beta when it goes live they will change them that's what they said.
If there is a gazelle in town then it is prolly someones pet, you attack someones pet and its the same as if you attacked them.
You need to check the flag of things when attacking them.
Wild or abandoned animals have a grey flag. Tamed animals share the flag of the owner. So reds have red pets and blues have blue pets.
If anythgin attacks you first then you have the right to call guards, if you attack anything they have the right to call guards.
If 2 questionable people are fighting (2 greys, 2 reds, or 1 red and 1 grey) then the guard could attack either person.
Think of it like this, calling the police and being a criminal may get you arrested.

No anyone could have called guards. The person who called them could have been out of speaking range but still in guard range. So the person taking the screen may not have seen who called guards but if a guard showed up someone called them.
Whenever your pet attacks someone, either from being attacked or being ordered to attack the owner gets a message " <petname> will attack <person name>"

Bad system from how your explaining it. I could sit there with a macro and call guards every x seconds (x as in time that it doesn't stack) and just kill people randomly?

Don't be shooting people you can't identify for one. Now they do need to add better targeting or some sort of toggleable mouseover.

Until they replace the instagib beta guards with the npc guards you prolly could macro a chat command in a guard zone and get grey/reds killed, but if there are not grey/reds around, you should know that the guard kills you for using the command with no one around for him to kill. he gives you a couple warnings then kills you for abusing the system.
While i'm not a fan of instagib anything, it would be nigh impossible to beta test other mechanics if the npc guards were the only source of policing. Remember before they added any guards and people camped priests, this was also before they added guidance pillars so you can find priests.
The guards in beta are there primarily to keep enough order so people can test things other than the death system.

I had a horrible experience with the guards last night. Some guy attacks me while harvesting, I defend myself, he calls the guards and then camps me and about 3 others at the priest - then kills it when he's bored with berating and ganking all of us. I guess he got away with it because he "pushed" me instead of attacking, but there's no real way to tell because it all looks like an attack to me.
Either way, this guard system is the worst out of all games I've seen similar types in... and the players are some of the worst I've ever seen in general. Darkfall has nothing on this crowd of jagoffs, then again, I am sure it's the same people who bashed DF after launch while being similar jerks in their beta phases. It never ends I tell ya, a whole new breed of scumbags.
Call me a carebear or whatever, I recommend you try to actually PvP in this game and not just call the guards, and feign being pro while doing it.

I learned the hard way aboutthe guard camping. I wanted to make a thief character but getting spawn camped for 20 minutes just made me give up.

I like to lure them to my garden with produce...then slit their throats. I then take their still beating hearts and shove them into the nearest guards mouth....ah....good times.
