The problem is that you are looking for high profile RAID guilds. Those are elitish to the bone, full of arrogant turds with an even more horrible, almost facistich attitude.
Go look for casual RAID guilds. Or guilds that have a RAID alliance with other guilds. Those are far less picky, more friendly and RAID for FUN! (like the guild I am in on Antonia Bayle)
Sure you probably won't get to see the Top RAIDs and get the most Top End gear. But at least you get to RAID and have FUN!
Your choice really.
actually you miss understood the whole post so it seems. I am not looking for a high profile guild of any sort, I have always led a CASUAL , FUN for ALL type guild, in any game I played (read my post again) I am in a fun friendly helpful guild on Butcherblock atm.
I was saying too many gamers have become more worried about numbers and loots in raids instead of just having FUN, which was what games are meant for in the first place. (screw all that raiding iz seriuz Bizznizz garbage)
Wth does your guild being idiots have to do with Sony?
Perhaps it is a result of the terrible class structure and lack of balance eq2 has?
When current players advise new players to avoid certain classes, because they are of little to no use to groups/raids at high levels that is a problem at the design level.
Wth? Seriously Daffidoll, if you hate this game so much, why are you posting on here? You never miss a chance to bash the game. IT IS NOT SOE'S FAULT THAT THE PLAYERS GUILD DECIDED TO BE JERKS AND NOT INCLUDE HIM IN A RAID. This has NOTHING to do with SOE, the guild just decided they didn't want to include this particular character in the RAID. I have NEVER been refused participation in a raid unless the raid has already started, and I've played every class in the game. So don't give me this idiotic "its SOE's fault" when its not.
Daffidoll, if you don't like the game, don't play it and don't spend all your time on a board for a game you aren't interested in because you know very well how it appears to the rest of us.
Its pretty obvious what he does as well as predictable. I fully expect hm to lean on the report button as soon as i post this.

No more predictable than some people here telling anyone with any criticism about the game to shut up/go away as if this is a forum only for people with positive things to say. It isn't my fault Moiraes post was deleted by the mods. If I had reported her my posts would have been deleted right along with hers, because you cannot report someone and also reply/quote their post. I'm guessing I would have gotten a vacation or a warning myself if I had. You are assuming something that is impossible and jumping to conclusions about me.
Really I have no problem answering criticism of my views or myself, but I would rather stick to discussing issues of games instead of discussing people who posts those issues. Know what I mean?
Anyhow, is anything I said untrue? Does the original posters guildmate talk about how undesirable rangers are? Do other people in this thread echo the same thing about rangers and other classes? Is it common advice to new players that they should avoid certain classes, because of their status in the end game?
Some people want to blame his guild and honestly we know nothing about them and reaching the conclusion that they must be jerks, idiots and elitists really sounds like people are trying to rationalize a problem onto the players. For all we know they could be filled with wonderfully awesome people and there is no personality problems that relate to the original poster getting into raids. I just don't like jumping to extreme conclusions like that or that game mechanics problems should be trust onto the shoulders of the players when there is little control they have over the situation.
Not that I am pretending I don't have certain views (which Moirae is actually wrong about), but it isn't like I was ranting about soe or joining in on how aweful the EQ2 player base was right along with others in the thread. I succinctly brought up a point that directly related to the original posters situation without any additional commentary. If you think what I said was untrue please feel free to show me where. If all you want to do is criticize me for saying that same thing others have that are valid and on topic then I knock yourself out I guess.
I'll try to stick to discussing issues and not making assumptions about people.
there are guilds that play to win and guilds that play to socialize and sing kumbaya. and then there are a thousand different degrees of in-between those two extremes. there will always be balance and class issues and yes, those are SOE's fault. but it's a lot easier to find a more suitable guild than to remake the game.
It is a game after all, and like any game or sport in RL, you can get frustrated with your teammates yelling at you OR you can join a non-competitive league that plays for fun. all depends on what you want to get out of it and how much you're willing to put in .

Some people want to blame his guild and honestly we know nothing about them a
we know nothing about him either. and he never came back and answered my questions. My guild is one of the top flight guilds in the game and we always bring our ranger.
yes some classes are hurting but show me a game where the classes are perfectly balanced. SOE is working on them, as some of the lacking classes are getting a nice buff in the expac (Brawlers and Summoners).
are you telling me every spec of every class is wanted on a WoW raid? i doubt it.
the Evil Raider that outgears you and makes you cry for welfare epics on the forums.

I can't think of a game that has perfect balance, but that isn't what is being discussed. I can tell you that in wow there is no class people will recommend a new player to avoid, because it will not be wanted in groups or raids when they reach max level. Let alone a list of classes and specs to avoid.
That isn't to say there are not groups that min/max, but overall any class any spec will do just fine in a raid. There really isn't the same level of need or want that you are talking about in an EQ2 raid. Two guilds can mix/max their raids and have two completely different rosters of classes that cover all the classes.
Last expansion was a 2nd expansion with same level cap. it was a bit like eof in which the same things happened. The raids in the 2nd expansion at same cap are harder than in the first one, which usually leads to raidleaders looking more at raidsetups and starting to min/max wherever possible to maybe kill a bit more.
This was even noticable in normal instance groups when you see players just asking for specific classes even for the simplest instances. But especially for instance groups the problem is mostly the players that create them, i had much better runs with non optimal groupsetups, than in some of those perfect setup groups. (sometimes these perfect groups were that bad that my pally was highest dps in a troub, illu, wiz, group)
I was a guild leader of a casual raid guild for a long time, and especially for this sort of guild i prefer reliable players over the player with the right class. If i know i got a ranger or a necro (or any other class that is not on the most wanted list atm), but the player is doing his job good and he is a regular raider and knows his class then i prefer him over assassin x (who probably cannot even do half of the dps that he should do with his class and equip).
First I would find another guild. If you guild leader/raid leader would not speak to you then that is on them. It speaks volumes to me that nobody would talk to you until after the raid. I think I would be all over the guild leader and raid leader on this that you were passed up on a raid to a non guild member, and I would be wanting a real answer so I could fix it.
Also yes I do have a question what tier of armor are you in? Most woe/levi raids require minimum of T2 and at least one set of infused jewlry. My SK has 3 sets of jewlry and mostly t2 with 1 t3. It also helps to have you epic. I know on any levi raid I have been in everybody gets an inspect and I have seen folks dropped because their armor/weapons dont cut it.
If you don't have t1 or t2 armor consider this. Go find the mentor guy, and mentor down to 50 yes thats right 50. It is an accepted practice I see lots of folks who cant get groups do this. Go and set the zones in cl/ef/lava and then run you own shard missions. You can pull some days 3 and other days as many as 9 shards. T1 stuff is cheep 5-12 shards a piece, t2 is not that bad 15-30 shards a piece. If you get in groups I have pulled as many as 20 shards in day. Then rince and repeat on other alts.
Personally I don't raid much but I have 3 toons geard out for it, and have no trouble picking up a raid. But I have the holy trinity of toons, Warlock, SK, and Troubadour. I always parse in the top 4 in any group.

I made the right choice for me as I always do
That happens in every game though haha.
