And it gives me pleasure to know how much it pains you to say that ;)

AoC has some great voice acting in tortage lvl 1-20 but that disappears also Tortage = single player game. My biggest beef with AoC is that it's zoned and instanced so much it's more of a CORPG than an MMORPG. Mobs are the standard aggro one and drag it and kill them off ala Jackie Chan style. Also PvP = bored level 80's in Kesh, Kesh is like the retirement area for AoC where PvPers go to cancel their subscriptions!

Get Darkfall, you know it makes sense!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

I was bored of AoC within a week of leaving Tortuge.  AoC is a decent game, but its just the same old stuff with a facelift (or a boob job in this case).  Lots of lame quests, linear world design, tons of instancing,   The only thing mildly intersting was the melee combat and fatalaties,  but unfortunately they thought it would be a great idea to include casters that are ridiculously overpowered in comparison.  The game isnt' referred to as "Age of Casters" for nothing.

Darkfall is a raw experience that nails what a medevial fantasy virtual world is supposed to be about.  It gets your heart pumping... sometimes good, sometimes bad.... but the world draws you in and makes you want to become more.  It's rougher around the edges than AoC, but it is w/out a doubt a more entertaining game.

I can't imagine playing AoC for much longer than it would take to get to level cap.  I wouldn't be a bit surprised if I was playing Darkfall 2-3 yrs down the road.

*and whoever said AoCs world was better crafted the Darkfall is smokin' some good stuff.  Darkfall's world destroys every other MMO except perhaps LotRO and maybe Vanguard.

    Darkfall:

Huge open seamless world with player cities and villages located within the world; inducing politics and strategies for territorial control depending on resources and location. Your city or your house is in the world. No instances, you can play together with hundreds of players.

In Darkfall you are fighting for your place in the world, this is completely different from AoC.

    AoC:

Extremely badly designed zoned and instanced "game map" (I can't call this a world).

A gimmick of a world consisting of stuck together zones and instances. The player villages are in a multi-layered instance located outside of the world. To go to your village you have to talk to an npc and select instance number 278. 99% of the other players  will never see your village as they are going to another instance.

Sieges are also located outside of the world, in a zone containing 9 battlekeeps. It's just a battleground with no point.

Each zone in the game is an instance that can only hold a maximum of 48 players (it will then make a multi-layered copy of itself when full with 48). The exception is the siege battleground which can hold 2x48=96 players (if your guild has more than 48 players, the others can't take part in the fight. They can't even watch the fight.)

AoC has nice graphics but that's about it tbh. =/

Darkfall does PvP the best out of any MMO I've played, and surprising does PvE pretty well and has a better community than people realize after you get past all the trolls/flamers. If graphics/sound is what turns you off, then read up on DF 2010 they will be doing a complete re-vamp to graphics/character models/ armor models/ graphic updates in general, armor dyes, plus DX11 support/multi-threading, also sound updates, with a lot more content being added. So 2010 is a good year for Darkfall!

Just don't enable the high-end graphics. You can choose shader models, etc in the video options.

All that work for new graphies, and most of us will probably thurn them off anyway, for better FPS in battles.

I played DF on launch enjoyed it but got bored and left, last week I gave it another try and am enjoying it alot! but Im not sure what it is.. but my mind keeps playing tricks and telling em to re-try AoC.
I was checkign the site and the new stuff/fixes added and it seems to have had alot changed....... whats your thoughts?

I wouldent mind giving a PvE server a try but I heard their near empty in AOC....  and I dont really fancy paying money to transfer my level 80.

    Whats your thoughts on both?

I played them both, and it is exactly how you described it

AoC is the short lived fun, I played it 3 times for a couple of month

DF is the longer term commitment, I played it 3 months at launch then took a break and currently I ve been playing it for 6 months..........happily.

My suggestion is try AoC..............you will be back to DF in a month anyway.

DF is what a MMO is suppose to be, AoC is way too casual to keep people entertained for long.

If you ask me, try mmorpg.com Forum PvP. Its pretty balanced, good population, frequently updated content and its completly free.

I wish they'd give us those sort of changes. I'd definitely be all for an option that raises the minimum requirements if it greatly improved the graphics.   I'd love a second client that was loadable with higher res textures and such.

But no, they've already said the stuff they are implementing will not have negative performance effects.
