If you play any MMO its important to make friends and keep a tight list going of these people, and last but not least you have to find and join a Guild that suits you.

Finding a Guild and fitting in with it can be very hard sometimes... but its the single most important thing you can do.

I've stopped playing WoW because I hate the end game and there's nothing to do in WoW except stand around looking like a clone(everyone looks the same) and chat.

There's no player housing, no guild hall, no crafting system thats worthwhile... and nothing to do except run heroics or raid and the game has become so easy that you can be geared out for ICC within 1-3 weeks depending on the time you invest and a little luck... and if you play a tank class then its even easier since you have no wait.

Maybe the next expansion will address some of this?

WoW needs more to do end-game in my opinion.

    Played: MCO - EQ/EQ2 - WoW - VG - WAR - AoC - LoTRO - DDO - GW/GW2 - Eve - Rift - FE - TSW - TSO - WS - ESO - AA - BD
    Playing: Sims 3 & 4, Diablo3 and PoE
    Waiting on: Lost Ark
Who's going to make a Cyberpunk MMO?

Jerks....  and most people throw them on an ignore list or decide to just avoid them. The problem here with World of warcraft is the game was made for everyone under the sun. From Grandmothers , to babysitters, to Gays to lawyers, Police officers, Your local Grocery store manager.

This game was originally built for the "hard core" Gamer. Since the release of burning crusade the game decided to investigate a huge black hole in the ground, slip and fell, and is now in this constant tumble of getting worse and worse.  Originally the "complaints" were on how the content is getting easy, the content "there isn't enough,  "they are ruining the lore!", tons of other things just for the game itself. But now I come to a stand point where this has become the last straw. Blizzards community has been so ... "non caring"... about one another ... it is as though the real world was brought into this game.

Now, let's back track here for a second. I was invited to the closed beta in this game during 2004 , have followed the WC series since 1994.  I distinctly remember  having to actually be in a party with people to work for my gear along with competing with 40 other people.

Just recently , these past few days, my wife and brother in law have hit the level cap of 80.  I have been helping run with them through some heroics to help them "gear" their "toons".  My hunter is in most of the Tier 10 gear also with a lot of the ICC pieces since the release of the patch. Now it just so happens, every group we get , people decide that their crap doesn't stink and decide to bash these two new players  for everything under the sun, nit picking on some of the most stupid crap I have seen since the release of this game. yet of course they say nothing to me because of my "Gear". I find it very strange how people yet expect everyone to already have the items needed to complete say such dungeon or raid, WHEN THAT IS WHY THEY WERE THERE TO BEGIN WITH.

This really is the last straw, the community has gotten so bad and foul that it sickens me to even talk with the majority of the people in this game. The "wow mentality" has gotten this label for that exact reason.  It makes me even more upset to know that I have to pick up two other game subscriptions just to fill a community void because A lot of these players in world of warcraft think "hey, it's the internet not like these people are real or ever see them. " WRONG. with as big as this game is, you are bound to at least run into people once whether it is on another game ( which i have plenty of times already ) or could be at your local ice cream parlor.. or some where else random ( which i have as well.)

this game is no longer the game that immerses you into a "Fantasy" world, well not for me at the least. This is the kind of game now that makes you feel like you live in the back alley's of New york City. A Dog eat Dog world.

    I will close with this...

Those of you who really do think this way as far as the "wow mentality" goes, I really do feel sorry for you seeing how you are missing out on a lot of other joys right now the gaming industry has to offer. not just that but even other types of games have to offer. Do you miss actually having fun? instead of trying to compete for #1 dps/tank/heals?  I know I do... I'm sick of having to feel like the game is a job. Most of all I'm sick of "working" with people in a game, and not playing with them, like the game intends.

Thank you for taking your time out of your day/night to read this thread. Greatly appreciated :).

I agree with you 100%. I will  take it a step further and tell you what "my opinion" is. Ive played off and on for many years and since BC came out the community has gone crazy. I played wotlk for some time now and I try to ignore most of the comments when there is vulgarity and childish comments and attitudes coming from every direction. What I find more annoying is  the message spamming of:

1.gearscores ---IMO (in my opinion) IN MY OPINION it has ruined the game. I have a few friends who play when they can and many of them  have crappy gearscores, they are more pleasureable to play with, to run dungeons with. We wipe here and there and then we laugh about it. We don't start scanning each others gear and telling each other what gear they should have or how they should play. We don't play the blame game.. I wouldn't trade any of them in for any person that care more about gearscores than having FUN and laughing.

2.looking for non-fail groups ---what fun is a game when you don't die..is it like the Matrix  and if you die in game you die in real life?

    3. link achievements --not a difficult task

    4. must know all the fights --HuH ..Ive played for many years..done many dungeon raids many many times and still don't know every fight. I can't even remember what  day of the week it is 1/2 the time. If you know all the boss fights by heart than you need some fresh air...

Seriously what ever happened to playing a game for FUN? I can't answer for anyone else, but I play games for FUN, for getting away from real life garbage, meet new people and make new friends. I have a job..I don't know anyone who gets paid to play WOW cept gold farmers and thats not saying much.

There is nothing 'massively multiplayer' about politeness and sportsmanship. They are minority traits. MMOs (and a lot of the guilds within them) cast a wide net to catch as many as they can - without regard for character.

I got into MMOs to play RPGs co-operatively with other human beings, but the quality of the experience is decreasing now, and the few times I group with pleasant and sporting people just aren't making up for the instance runs with jerks, and the PvP with players who are just taking up space to grind some resource - rather than make an honest effort to WIN.

I'm just about done with the genre.

The community isn't bad. General Chat doesn't count as the community as a whole. If you want to know what the community is really like head over to the forums or join a guild.

It's really really sad, and as a father and a husband, I would never let my son and wife play a game with this type of community.  Although, my son is very young and doesn't play games, the concern remains the same.

The more a game is oriented towards soloers - the more anti-social people it will get as players. Ironic that MMOs are becoming less suitable for group play with friends.

I've learned that once I see or am part of a group that behaves this way, just leave and be done with it, life is so much simpler this way :-).  I've had top gear in WoW at times, and even then, I was happy to run with under geared players as long as they were patient and listened.  I've of course been on the other side of it as well.  Either way, I feel that your best way of dealing with others that are impatient is just to leave.  If they want to harass you for leaving, ignore works pretty well.
