You should stop using telegraph for your internet connection.

I try to use bittorrent to download as much as possible, I like how flexible they are compared to direct download. When I download something directly it eats up all my bandwidth and the internet is sluggish and my ping gets up to 3k. I have shitty 1.5mbps DSL so people would bitch all the time if I'm downloading a game that will take like about a day to download. I just throttle the download speed to about half of my max download speed and the internet works fine. Otherwise I would have to use a download manager and quit the download every time someone bitched and most likely only be able to download at night.
But even though I talked shit about DF back in the day, I guess I got caught up in the hate. I may just try this game for shits and giggles because I'm not playing any MMO's right now.

Setup your torrent properly, check for blocked ports and things like that. I am downloading nearing my 6 mbps full speed.
Oh, and the recommendation is at the same phrase as the trial is advertised, if we click the links in the OP, so it's not really "later in the process".
"7-Day Trial
Try a week of Darkfall for $1.00. To continue after the week is over you need to purchase the Darkfall Client. We recommend that you download the Darkfall Client before you purchase this product. Click here to download"
It was the first thing I noticed, and started downloading before ordering the trial, is going to take me around 3 hours.
Folks, get off the boat before it sinks. It hit the iceberg long ago and is barely afloat. Yes yes, we all desperately want to like the boat, and we love the "idea" of the boat, but this particular one has a giant crack in the hull and is beyond repair.
The one dollar charge would barely cover the credit card operation fee.
AV is not making cash from a trial that charges you a single dollar, you really should take the time to inform yourself of some facts before you post a blatant fabrication, especially when there are already three pages of posts within the thread that explain the reason for the charge and why it is actually beneficial to the game that they have chosen to have the trial program operate in this fashion.
It is a "lowering the barrier to entry", it doesn't matter whether you THINK you hate it or not, for 1 buck you can actually get some real hands on personal playtime.
If you are just going to discount the game out of hand without even trying it then you are a <insert expletive here> , at least go try the game to qualify your point of view and then offer up some constructive criticism, because what you say made the game bad or good is what the developers need to hear to improve the game.
I personally do not know if the game is good or not, haven't tried it yet & wont for a while as too many other things going on to give Darkfall a week, but I fully intend to do so before I pass judgement.
As for the guy who says he'd rather go buy a cheap burger than try a new MMO, fine, why the f**k are you here posting if you aren't interested in MMO's ?
At 1 dollar they are making almost nothing, chump change at best from the trials, the real money will be from the people who get to try the game & find that they in fact find something they enjoyed, even if they weren't sure they would, curiosity is a beautiful thing, but curiosity usually entails stumping up a significant upfront amount of cash, this method does 3 things, keeps out the bulk of the gold spammers, keeps out the bulk of those that do not have the capacity to pay for the game anyway, while lowering the barriers of entry to real potential customers.

It was the first thing I noticed, and started downloading before ordering the trial, is going to take me around 3 hours.
My torrent is set up correctly, I get full download speeds its just I when I download at full speed, I have no bandwidth left for browsing. I wouldn't mind if it were just me that had to deal with it, but I have others to think about. So I just throttle my speeds so other people in my house can surf the web and not have a page take forever to show up.
Looks like that in the future we will have to pay and for Demos..I dont wanna start anything..just a thought.
So it's fine to pay for a beta but not for a demo?
I can't really believe people are complaining over a $1 cost for a 7-day unrestricted trial.
U dont get my point....All started with the damn consoles and the DLCs..The old good days u used get ur game and have full free support(patches, mappacks etc) and u had to pay only for a "normal" good expansion. Now u gotta pay for everything..thats my point.
I can't really believe people are complaining over a $1 cost for a 7-day unrestricted trial.
I'm not surprised at all, though I agree it is absurd for anyone to complain about a one dollar charge.
If there is one thing this site has taught me in the short time I've been here it is that people will complain about anything, regardless of how minor an issue may or may not be. Some of the posts within this thread and the others are a prime example of exactly that occurring.
AV takes the time and effort to set this program up properly, ensuring the best of both worlds for everyone involved (existing subscribers and new recruits) and still people complain and continue to post utterly ridiculous assumptions and exaggerations which have no truth to them or any bearing on the trial program itself.
It pains me to see that some people have nothing better to do with there free time than to trash a video game due to little more than some misplaced spite.
Actually the main reason you have to pay for everything now is because of inflation, the cost of living has gone up significantly but the amount people are paid or have been paid is not keeping up or is going down, hence the massive job loss. As such businesses have to charge more, and for more access to offset the numerous costs of building/improving/maintaining a product in a world where our dollar has less value.
I also want to state that people can and WILL complain about any and everything just to hear themselves talk "The empty can rattles the most" as I've always been told.
Personal feeling: I have always wanted to try Darkfall but that $50 tag and being burned in the past made me skeptical and skittish to fork over cash. Now that it is $1 to try it. I WILL give it a shot and if I like the game they will get my $50 and my monthly sub.
$1 is NOTHING, you can bum a buck off someone if you ask nicely, and I have and do know the whole credit card system. Let me put it to you like this.
To be paid with a credit card the company is charged like this:
Transaction Fee: .25 cent Percentage of the Sale: %1-%4 Rental Cost of equipment: $25-$250/month List of Sales: $5-$10/month Programming: $100-250
You consider all of that and they might be getting to keep a nickle or less of each Dollar. That dollar means NOTHING to you hell even chewing gum anymore costs more than a dollar and might taste like shit and be wasted so... please QQ more if your own crying soothes you.
Well as i said it was just a thought in general..but if in the future u wanna pay for the air u are breathing thats ur problem:P...and i have nothing with AV or other companies..just a thought where gaming is going..no offence.
Looks like that in the future we will have to pay and for Demos..I dont wanna start anything..just a thought.

So you do or you don't have a spare dollar?
Here's the deal. The $1 fee does two things, it minimizes or eliminates chinese gold farmers and also keeps track of people trying to take advantage of the system. I understand what you're saying but there's a reason behind it. As long as I don't see "aslkjfsdfasd" running around mining nodes, I'm good.
"Censorship is never over for those who have experienced it. It is a brand on the imagination that affects the individual who has suffered it, forever." - Noam Chomsky
I understand you [RedDragon] (and share your thoughts about DLCs and the new "trends" on milking money out of customers), but don't really consider this trial program to be part of these trends.
Heck, Aventurine is one of the few MMO companies out there that offer nothing else besides the monthly fee (and server transfers I believe, NA <-> EU), calling them greedy would be the last thought I'd have for a company considering others in this market.
I am also worried, but I consider this trial offer to be fair, of course that's just my opinion, but it's a fact that $1 for 7 unrestricted days of gameplay in a P2P MMO is a great way to introduce the game to your possible customers.
lol guys forget the 1$ and stick to the meaning ...and gaming is to escape RL..And if companies wana make money, they should try to give us first a complite game and not half/bugged/unfinished games... and i talk about gaming in general...and u Garick u look like an old gamer..do u really like all that?

Yea Eric..im really worried about where gaming is going ,thats why i say all these things:o
I just got to thinking about them using the credit card thing as a way to keep track of the powerlevel and gold sellers. They don't have to use their own credit card. I made up a name and SS# but used my real address, 2 weeks later I have a fashion bug credit card. I never used it and cut the thing up as soon as I got it, but still its crazy I even got one. lol
My point is, while people may think this will stop people from selling gold, It may not. I think the companies would be willing to spend some money in chance to make some money. IMO the best way to keep gold sellers and such from reaching the mass population is to have trial accounts on a totally different server so that way they can only try and sell to the trial people. Yes some people may buy some and then come to the main server but, you won't be seeing spam all day.
In a weird way it is more satisfying paying 1 dollar for a trial than it is getting a trial for free. I feel like I am getting a really kick ass deal or something lol.

What a joke. They are going to charge me $1 to TRY their game. No thank you. More then likely they will also sell my account information to everyone for money as well. Again, no thank you. There is just something about "scam" written all over the so-called "offer".
