I think that game developers should sell their bodies for game subscriptions to their games.

After keeping on reading about Eve's method would it work in non sandboxish mmos instead of selling gold?

You could buy the thingy and sell it for ingame gold while your only getting extra playtime in the game.

Hmm, why not remove ingame currency altogether?

You get your starter weapon and armor when you create your avatar and everything drops from mobs.

There's no NPC's who sells anything and you can of course not sell anything to any NPC.

    Goldsellers are gone, yippie!

And when it comes to healing and mana pots you can have a reusable item (with a cooldown) at avatar creation that replaces all that.

And ruin player's economy? gold will never go away from an mmo just like money won't go away from our lives well at least till something new will be considered as money.

What will you give to get that thing, how can I get that thing without crafting? ah yes from other people but you need to pay something they won't hand it out free.

So you want to "fix" the gold selling problem by killing any player economy? yeah sure a game that would surely fail...

That's the only way to tackle the problem with the goldsellers and the stealing of accounts.

Players would just revert to trading items dropped from mobs as their currency. There will always be a form of currency in a game, whether its gold, isk/credits or even loot.

Just delete trading and any method of transferring items from one player to another should be deleted.

There! Job done. No need to trade, no need to sell gold. Happy?

Of course, this would turn the MMO into a "MMO-ish single player game that  you can download".

Yes, but if you want everything to BOP and stop any form of trade or interaction between players, then you have a Massivley single player game, not an MMO. Don't punish all of the players for the actions of the few.

Yes because you can't group with other people to do quest just because you can't earn gold and trade with one another.

This wouldn't deter gold sellers at all -- they would just undercut the price and make it cheaper to buy from them than the game company, IMO.

Personally, I don't think there is a solution to this. As long as there are players willing to BUY gold, there will be gold sellers. The key would be to get rid of the demand, but I don't see that happening.

I have to agree with this.  In EVE there is a mechanism set up so that players can trade GTC's for ISK from other players.

Yet, gold farming/selling persists because the farmers are willing to undercut the going rate, sometimes by a considerable margin.

Until games are designed so that there is no real benefit to buying gold the practice will be hard to stamp out.

These days in Aion I rarely see a gold farming bot or seller in game, but all the major sites still have gold to sell so the trade continues even if it isn't as flagrant as it was the first few months.

    For a F2P game? Sure.

But it is not as easy with a P2P game, selling gold that isn't farmed will totally mess up the games economy.  The devs would either have to put in large money sinks that would make life hard for the people who don't want to pay any extra. This would mess things up a lot.

It is ok to have a special server for it, all players who wants to buy gold can play on it but it would still be a really messed up economy.

SOE system where they have special servers where people can sell gold and other stuff to each other is better, it wont be gold coming from nowhere and we who don't want any part in gold selling can just play on another server.

A MMOs economy is a advanced and fragile system, most MMOs have problem enough here and F2P games are a total mess. To allow a thing like this would be to really mess things up.

What is so bad about gold sellers?  Other than spamming.

Aside from the fact that they are hacking/cracking other people's accounts in order to maintain a large inventory? Aside from the fact that RMT (Real Money Trading) is an illegal black market operation which goes against most game's TOS or Eulas?

Well, if you're okay with those two small issues, then consider the fact that these bastards destroy your video game's economy. They really, really truly and utterly destroy the economy. They jack up prices and monopolize all important in-game items so that the players are FORCED to buy gold from them.

Also, they are getting paid to play a video game for you.

First point I agree. Second point .. nothing is destroyed. No one is forced to do anything. The economy on my wow server is just fine. Usually i can save up enough to buy the 2-3 pieces of buyable current tier epics and have a small healthy reserve left. I never feel my server economy is "broken".

ANd lastly they are paid to play a PART of the video game for you. Not all of it.

Or you can just leave a small amount of it alone. It works for WOW.
