up until bc i loved this game with a lot of world raiding which was lots of fun with massive organised raids and lag due to the amount people, this vanished with bc and you only see it now and again with wotlk for the black bear, it just lost its sparkle with the hunt for the latest tier armour repeating the same old dungeon shit every night and this started to take the piss when once you was finally kitted out a new tier would appear, i go back sometimes trying to chase the dragon, but the game i once loved is long gone.........

Time...At some point every game gets boring even WoW.  I still think this is one of the best produced games in this genre, but when you start enjoying less polished games even more, because they are newer and have some features you missed in WoW, it's time to quit. My children gladly took over my accounts, so they are still being played.

    Agreed, Hopscotch73.

I think, like most people, it was an ongoing shift in the game's design to be less cohesive as a single persistent world. The streamlining, in a sense, ruined the real draw of the game.

I could do instances without ever talking to anyone, which is great for quickly gaining gear and stats but not so much for really interacting with the game world.

In addition, the pvp has been completely wacky since the arena was introduced. To progress in pvp you have to participate in an E-Sport that is neither well balanced nor accessible.

The game just started to feel less like a big world and more like a bunch of minigames that I connected to through a central hub. The world outside of cities was mostly just for leveling and doing daily quests as quickly as possible. Enemy faction members are more likely to ignore you than to fight.

It just seems like leveling is the only time during which you experience the world, have intense and fun pvp battles and really need to leave the city, and that just doesn't feel right to me.

I may give cataclysm a try, if only for the leveling up part where I will have a new world to explore and a number of other people to fight outside of instanced pvp zones.

Man.. I thought Blizzard was bad at hyping the Cataclysm expansion.. I see they've been outdone..

I am not selling, I am saying you are using arguments for quiting the game that are not valid to this game.

Arena gear can be obtained outside of arenas. Professions are proftable even on very low characters etc...

I respect you quit ! And I can fully understand it after 4 years or more ...

Just stop spitting nonsense about a game you played for ... years and don't follow anymore to justify your quit.

    Just quit.

Want a real mmorpg? Play WOW with experience turned off mode and be Pve_Pvp King at any level without a rat race.

I left only because the the graphics are to outdated for me, and the combat system got a little boring.  I go back and play sometimes, but not for a long stretch like I used to.  But the game overall, is still BY FAR the best one out there.  It's just old...

While I can't speak for the other guys I only left because I lost interest. So no im not spinning anything.

I'm not the type of person to slam a game I enjoyed earlier on in my mmo playing. maybe you should quote those guys?

Talking to me about mechanics is like some guy trying to bring up Doom 2 again.

Basically it was the never ending quest for gear - doing the dungeon finder until I puked - and then I found Darkfall Online...and that did it for me.....best game I've played since SWG.

Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.

I find it funny that most of the people I know that left wow found a game so radically different to keep them in the genre.

Eve was the game that did it for me.

    - Wrath of the lichking

    - Activi$ion

    - Overall lack of fun since wotlk

Glad I found a new (loved) home with Darkfall

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

The week they announced draeni(sp). I was already raging about the horde getting pally and ally getting shammy. But then they went and gave horde a stupid race of elves and alliance the cool one.

Plus I also hated that they were lowering the amount of people needed per raids. I knew how it would force guilds apart and seperate down. Plus, i was never that great, I knew it would be impossible to get a raid spot now.

They made me hate a game I loved for so long.  If they want me back they need to release a classic server.

it must be really crowed these days......

I think many just get bored with it because it is old now. Sure Cataclysm may spark some interest but once they see it isn't much entirely new its back to looking for the next best thing.

the fact that HC instances. aint hc, they are just AoE festival, no effort what so ever.

I know it wasnt like that at the start, but they were still piss easy, you didnt need to use CC, or your brains.

Everything was given to the players with golden plates, and after we took a dumb, they came licking our asses clean.

    few of my reasons.

mmorpg.com, the 4chan of mmo forums.

Right now the genre is filled with sub par WoW knock offs. the only people that really stay away from wow after leaving are the ones that find something radically different (Eve,Ryzom,FE,DF) or totally leave the genre.

It's funny to me because it proves how fucking pathetic the genre has become when they all try to copy a game that's hit a population wall like Wow. The people that want WoW are playing it, the devs in the genre should take notice.

Two and filled with enough players that people are having active wars daily.

That is an excellent point. I have tried a number of games that try to emulate WoW and just do it poorly, and that sent me back to WoW more than once. I don't really have a game right now, but I have been thinking about giving EVE or Darkfall a try.

The only way to get that "New" feeling back that we experienced when we first started playing mmo's is to play something radically different. Problem is most people dont do that, they take a look at games like eve and pass over them and play something like Aion or WAR.

When they do this they usually return to wow in three months or end up playing Xbox.

The change from 40 to 25 man raids. The lack of challenge in dungeons. The token system which allows buying raid quality armor although you have never raided. The class system, Paladins that can tank well, heal well and DPs well...all at the same time. The lack of crowd control in PvE, it is much faster and efficient to group all the mobs together and AoE them down.

Those are just a few of the reasons I no longer enjoy it.

  • thexratedthexrated Member UncommonPosts: 1,368

    Actually playing again...

But only because I took the €5 deal. And got a friend invite. Playing few hours a week with a good friend is a lot more fun than participating in the pointless and often drama driven end game grind.
