That is because it's campfire time where all the people that "get it" sit around singing  Kumbaya

Cryptic isn't going to recover from botching this game. Hope they go down in flames after ruining Champions and now STO.

And don't dare disagree with someone. I was warned about my "trolling" when I disagreed with someone.

Correct me if I am mistaken. Didn't Cryptic or Atari have a thread specifically for criticism or more of a complaining thread about everything going wrong? Even if they didn't, they messed up big tim and deserve what is coming.

the average thread that expresses ones negative beliefs about this game usually contain

    " OMFG THIS GAME SUCKS @$$";

Can't totally blame them for getting rid of those threads.

They are probably watching the number of players not continuing their subs past the first month and looking for a reason.

It MUST BE the forums and all the negativity there.

    Couldn't possibly be the game.

(I will be interested to see what sort of retention this game gets - even if it is estimated based on X-Fire data)

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

You're kidding me right?...Warned for disagreeing with someone. Was it distasteful or were you respectful about it? lol

My rage(childish i know) at Cryptic is pretty much gone now but i just cant pull myself away from what is happening. it is like watching a car wreck you know you should turn away but you just have to keep looking back.

Yes a lot of the threads getting deleted did contain those but the two I was reading the OP did not start out that way. it was the fanbois raging at them bringing up the I quit crap in them and then other fanboys pointing out the I quit crap in the thread would get the thread deleted.

Kind of funny to watch the fanboys go to extreme lengths to quell any opposition.

I used zero profanity and it was a general statement. It may have contained a little sarcasm, but I have seen much much worse that were never addressed.

Since you use that anaology i will go with it. the passengers are the lifetimers and hopefully some of them survive(for alot of them this is there first MMo Trekkies) and it is kind of not fair to them. I have a bitter taste and i am a gamer and will shrug it off alot of them may never play an MMO again.

Wow, we really are in the same frame of mind. I was thinking, as I wrote that, about the people who are new to MMO's or this is only their second MMO and I just feel bad for them. Tisk tisk for Cryptic/Atari for taking advantage of people like that. I am the same way, I paid for Mortal Online and got the limited loot bag. I made a mistake, jumped on a game because of the hype and when they did not deliver (nor have they still) I was mad but shrugged it off and promised to never jump on a game like that unless I am 100% sure It will pay off. Learned my lesson, but too bad for those with STO, I mean they're really getting screwed.

EDIT: Sorry OP didn't mean to veer off the point of the post.

I really really really wish that were true...sadly the past few years of MMO releases have taught differently...

Cryptic almost certainly more than cleared their dev costs on box sales alone with a tidy profit. So why should they care if the game is a piece of garbage?

Heck even Cryptic itself is a perfect example, they didn't hide anything. CO (or perhaps "Chumps Online" lol) clearly demonstrated what they were going to do with STO. Every last dev interview, demo and promo only confirmed how shallow and cookie-cutter it was going to be...yet people lept on it and lapped it up as always.

So..summing up one more time: Derivative schlock game with short dev cycle, little content and low costs =

profit for the dev co, profit for their investors, paychecks for everyone involved , profit for the IP holder

and they can and will repeat this with next project...welcome to the new age of MMOs

AO, AoC and now the hype over Secret World (or whatever the heck it's called) should more than prove that a company can churn out garbage and still have legions of rabid fanbois defending them regardless of how transparent the process is. Heck even Cryptic itself is a perfect example, they didn't hide anything. CO (or perhaps "Chumps Online" lol) clearly demonstrated what they were going to do with STO. I had AoC when it launched, and even a week prior to launch, and the game was pretty terrible; however, I have played it recently and it is much better than what it was, they recovered quite decently from how badly they failed in the beginning. Also, they NEVER went as far as to false advertise on prices of their game, that is just low on Cryptic/Atari's part. You can not release content, but to deliberately show that you don't care for your customers money etc... is just dirty and cheap.

XFire shows STO is now at #32, was number #28 yesterday. The highest it ever made it was #19, a few days ago it was at #24: www.xfire.com/games/sto/Star_Trek_Online/

    Hmmmm...terms that come to mind

    - forum abuse

    - damage control

    - constructive criticism

Now where I have seen a mass execution of negative forum threads before?

Hmmm that is a tough one.You would think newer companys would read up on what happened to past companys that did that.

Yea, its out of control now. They are locking all kinds of threads. Too little to late. The words out now. Containment on their forums is the best move but intsead they push unhappy campers out into the wider internet. I really wonder how long this company will last?

Not long I hope. I believe in second chances, but they're really dwindling down their chances of that.

The best move would have been to do right by there customers. But that seems to be too much to ask from this company.

No doubt there. I dont know the numbers involved so its just guessing but I cant bet atari is to pleased with their purchase of cryptic right about now. Time will tell, but is the Crytpic name even worth anything if Atari wanted to sell it off?

DELETING TROLL THREADS???? ON MY INTERNETS???? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DARE THEY!?!?! JUST BECAUSE I CREATE POSTS THAT WILL SPECIFICALLY ELLICIT A FLAME OR HATE RESPONSE NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! WHAT IS THIS.

Ok on a more serious note it doesn't surprise me that trolls are being deleted. It happens on all MMos and will continue till the end of time. Sorry this is your first MMo, but in the long span of MMos this moderation is very common, and every intelligent company out there will do it. Have you ever tried to criticize mmorpg.com? I bet they'd delete your post and they aren't even a game company.

First of all i am not a noob as you are implying and i am not disputing the fact that some should be closed what i am saying they are being way to heavy handed about it and it is just adding to the current controversy. And not in a good way.
