MMORPG.com members are now able to submit nominations for the MMO Developer Awards through a strategic partnership with the Looking For Group Expo. The top 5 games with the most votes across all voting locations will go in front of the LFGX awards committee and the winners will receive their MDA at the VIP award show at LFGX in June.
This is YOUR chance to vote for the nominees in eight of the above categories. The following pages will describe the category and what you should think about when choosing what game you feel should win that award. The top five games with the most votes across all voting locations will go in front of the LFGX awards committee and the winners will receive their MDA at the VIP award show at LFGX in June. Voting will remain open through April 30th and the winners will be announced at the end of May.

It's nice to see the inclusion of every current MMO, most voting/awards pre-pick the group they want voters to choose from which is unfair. This left the field wide open for what people like.
The downside of that very fact being that it is tough to choose on some of the categories because looking at the list you realize how many games you have never been inside of to judge them on.
I also like that the categories are broken up, so gameplay is seperate from art etc. Since to me gameplay has 0 to do with art (which is why I don't like the first line in the criteria which mentions art) it's nice to have a category seperation.
Now that I've said that, I've never heard of this expo before. Is this it's first year? Is it big? That kind of information helps determine how much weight a poll like this will matter to anyone outside of these forums. Nice pic on the front page of the site though.
So I'm stuck trying to figure out who to vote for in art and sound. I've heard some newer games I haven't tried have nice art so I'll have to look for footage. And I realized how little I pay attention to the sound in any game I play.
There are no options to choose from at the "Independent game" part.
Yeah, and I've never really noticed how many people work on them-only when there is a notice of 'x-number of people being laid off' which certainly happened last year.
Hopefully enough people will vote so no group can spam the results.

Yes it would of been nice to have that page only have choices that fit their criteria, I just guessed that the one I chose fit since I don't know most companies details.
was this cathegory:
Independent MMO of the Year
made exclusively so Mortal Online can win anything, as it seems it's the only MMO that qualifies. That's pathetic.

There are no options to choose from at the "Independent game" part, literally, theres some kind of bug on the web and i cant vote lol
Some categories i left blank and the other i choose what the mmo genre should mirror at.
But truth to be told none really deserves anything since we have poor to none of those categories, howver if there was a "MEH game of the year" categories it would be a tought fight =p
now: GW2 (11 80s).
Dark Souls 2.
future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
"Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
Thank you for letting us vote. !!!!
I couldn't vote for that category either, it said I had voted already.
Anyway this is an interesting opportunity for us to take part of, thanks MMORPG.com.
I am wondering if the reason it shows no options is because you may have chosen an indie game for the all out "MMO of the Year" category already? If you did NOT choose an independent game for MMO of the Year, perhaps you can still see options available in the Independent category?
I'm guessing here, but I chose an indie game for the straight up "MMO of the Year" and so when I got to the Independent CATEGORY....it looked as if I had already voted for an Indie Game of the Year, when I actually voted for that indie game as full on MMO of the Year, not just Indie MMO. Does that make sense?

This is the first year for this Expo but I'm looking forward to going to it. Most of the gaming conferences that I've been to are either on the east or west coast so its very nice to see one that's being hosted in the mid-west instead this time.
What browser are those of you that cannot see the indie poll using? I see it ok in IE8 but I am guessing this is a browser compat thing...

The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive.
Ohhh man.....games that I loved this year missed the list.
BattleForge,Battlefield Heroes,Karos Online : C'mon
It only happens if you've already voted through the other categories and I checked in IE 8, FF, and Chrome and it's the same thing, can't place my vote.
I will not be taking part in any of this nonsense. It is just voting based on bias decisions, means nothing to me or anyone else.Do i need an Eve fanbois to tell me he thinks Eve is game of the year?I can pretty much figure that for myself w/o having a voting poll tell me so.Won't matter i will not even watch the results, they are fake and mean nothing.Unless people have played EVERY single game ,they should not be voting.
We should instead have articles by professionals inside the industry educating players about the gaming industry. If people don't even understand what they are playing or looking at,how could they possibly form any kind of thoughtful decision? So without knowledge how are the people going to base their voting?>>>bias/fave game nothing more.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
MMORPG awards for "best of the year" should confine themselves to MMORPGs actually released in the last year.
Expansions (boxed or digital, like LotRO Shadows of Mirkwood or RoM The Elven Prophesy) are eligible.
To reward MMORPGs that have been chugging along, add categories like Most Improved, Best Continuing Content, Best Community, and Best Scandal (because, admit it, we all love it when it happens to someone else).
I was also unable to vote in the last category, Independent MMO of the year. I'm using Firefox.
These votes don't pick winners, they pick nominees. The average hard core MMOer plays more than one MMO, therefore wouldn't automatically just choose 1 for everything. The top 5 nominees are then looked at by a board of industry and media related to the industry who then choose a winner.
Also of note is that most MMOers will in fact try new games, even if they have a favorite, to see what's new. Obviously we'll have fan boy votes, no system is perfect.
That category lists a time frame of when the game had to have been released. Nominations that come in for games not released during that year period, will be ignored. There is a category for MMOs that have been "chugging along", it's called "outstanding new content"
The last poll should be working for everyone now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Guild Wars is split into three choices, which isn't fair. You don't have other games broken down by expansion, so even while the GW expansions are playable on their own, it should just be one game, i.e. Guild Wars. It isn't like they are running three different games, everyone uses the same client and can play together in the PvP areas, just certain areas, features and skills are turned off if you didn't buy that part.

Not only that, but you can't even vote for independent games that are still under development. My vote would have went all the way to Infinity: The Quest for Earth: www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/241/Infinity-The-Quest-for-Earth.html which has been under development for around four years now, which is understandable due to the fact that it's a single guy doing all the back end and most of the front end work on that game.
Edit: The last substantial game update was this galaxy generation video: www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/index.php The game universe will put all others to shame.

There are many Indie games which have been built over several years, some by a single or a couple people (Minions of Mirth for example.) which are released. The reason we can't allow 'in-development' considerations is that there are over 150 MMOs in development at any given time and we'd have to spend a lot more time than any of us have evaluating them.
I noticed that as well. Seems a bit odd.
I also think it's fairly dumb to have us vote on a category that includes games ineligible for that nomination. Looking at a list of 100 games I'm not going to have any clue which ones have a crew of only 10 people. I mean what percentage of the population actually knows that sort of thing? 1% maybe? Geez, I've been gaming since the invention of the wheel and although I can vaguely recall reading about some independent games here and there I couldn't remember the name of one to save my life. Give me a list of 20 games that actually qualify and I might actually recognize a couple. That's just silly and poorly designed.
Bad poll setup... Its hard to tell who im clicking on when the options are centerd and the Dots are Far left... Needs some color stripes, or highlites or something...
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.
