thanks for letting us vote but unfortunate i hope its ok i voted for things that have bean out for over 3 years because i really couldn't see anything recent deserving of mmo of the year

edit: its a little confusing what we are clicking perhaps a 1 line separation between games would be good

Yeah, and I've never really noticed how many people work on them-only when there is a notice of 'x-number of people being laid off' which certainly happened last year.

Hopefully enough people will vote so no group can spam the results.

Not only that, but you can't even vote for independent games that are still under development. My vote would have went all the way to Infinity: The Quest for Earth: www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/241/Infinity-The-Quest-for-Earth.html which has been under development for around four years now, which is understandable due to the fact that it's a single guy doing all the back end and most of the front end work on that game.

Edit: The last substantial game update was this galaxy generation video: www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/index.php The game universe will put all others to shame.

There are many Indie games which have been built over several years, some by a single or a couple people (Minions of Mirth for example.) which are released.  The reason we can't allow 'in-development' considerations is that there are over 150 MMOs in development at any given time and we'd have to spend a lot more time than any of us have evaluating them.

That's a good reason, I can live with it. I hope Infinity will be on that list one day!

Cool! Last page is working right now.

edit: On a second thought, should WOW be on the independent game list?
I know you just threw all games that are released, but do you seriously expect players to know which games qualify? I know WoW does not, but i'm not sure about a few other less known titles.

I hope that World of Warcraft wins.

Not because its so awesome but because the competition is so awful.

    So far, my votes are:

Game of the Year - World of Warcraft

Best Game Design - Dark Age of Camelot

Best Artistic Design - Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Outstanding New Content - World of Warcraft

Best Sound Design - World of Warcraft

Best Cinematic - World of Warcraft

Best Costume Design - Champions Onlin

Independent MMO of the Year - Undecided

I have no idea who the independent developers in the genre are, because I don't pay attention to that stuff. I just pay attention to the game, and if it's good or not. I do recognize game company names, but I wouldn't know if they're independent or not, nor would I know how many developers they have. I'm the same way with music and movies. I don't care who the actor is, just if they act good or not. I may over a period of many years come to know the name of the actor if I consistently see that actor in a movie and like him/her. Same with music. I just turn on the radio and listen to it. I can care less who sings what, since I don't buy CD's.

So those reading this, can you make a list of independent developers, so that I can make a decision?

    Thanks

Fallen Earth wins for me for best orginality in an MMO in a LONG time! May not be the best for graphics, but for a sandbox MMO, it outshines everyone!

I second that :P. And I must say, that I even love the graphics of the game. When set to highest option, I often caught myself watching the sunset or surrounding areas.

Same here. This MMO is such a blast. It's rough on the edges, but what would you expect from an independent developer, they don't have the $$, and still, they manage to make such a good game (instead of big $$ developers like Cryptic, Mythic) . Icarus Studio have their act together, that's for sure. This game is going to be big.

We should instead have articles by professionals inside the industry educating players about the gaming industry. If people don't even understand what they are playing or looking at,how could they possibly form any kind of thoughtful decision? So without knowledge  how are the people going to base their voting?>>>bias/fave game nothing more.

Oh yes. Because letting only professionals judge gives such useful outcomes for fans....like American Idol for music.

It isn't like they are running three different games, everyone uses the same client and can play together in the PvP areas, just certain areas, features and skills are turned off if you didn't buy that part.

Same issue with City of Heroes/Villains. Except in fact there is no difference anymore, they are sold as a package.

Both games should just be added together in the calculations into GW and CoX.
