 I'm sorry but consistency is important.  making fake accounts... or encouraging people to do so is just WRONG.  It doesn't matter if that person was a fan of the game, or hated the game, or didn't even hear of the game.  They crossed a line and should be denounced.

 

 Nor have I seen you condemn or denounce the person/ people impersonating Angarato and Angrybarrel.  The fact that you put quotation marks around the word impersonate when you refer to them implies that you either don't consider it impersonation or don't consider the impersonation significant.

I'm not sure how you could read that in any way other than denouncing EVERYONE who resorts to making fake accounts and impersonating people so I will say it again.

 

ANYONE,( no matter if they do it "as a joke", do it to try and hurt a game, or do it to try and help a game),  who impersonates another person has crossed a line and should be denounced.  As part of ANYONE I include whomever is impersonating these people from the Mortal Online forums.  I also include those who thought it would be "funny" to suggest impersonating me, and those who have admited to making fake accounts such as Neoxxx (or whatever the guys name was).  So now that I have UNEQUIVOCALLY (again) denounced anyone who has admitted doing this, or suggested others do so... I ask you again... Will you join me in condeming those same people.  There is no place for that behavior and it totally crosses the line.  If the guy meant it as a joke he should at least come and apologize for the result of the "joke".  As that hasn't happened, and I still have an inbox filled with racist PMs in addition to all the ones splashed here for hours.. I still hope you will join me in this condemnation. 

 

PS.. I have never infered anything about the Arangato guy... no idea who he is other than you mention him a few times. As far as I know he never even visited these forums until he was impersonated.. so I can actually relate to the guy  and whoever did it should be beaten with a wooden spoon.(although I still think it likely that his impersonator was someone from another MO guild.. particularly when at least one other person from another guild has admitted to doing such a stunt previously.)

My apologies, but sticking that at the end of a post calling on me to denounce people seemed like your main point was accusing me of being inconsistent, not a denunciation of imposters across the board.

It seams like several MO banned people have ended up here on mmorpg.com to talk bad about MO to hurt Star Vault. They destroy the fun for the rest of the people that want a serious discussion about MO here on this forum.

Hercules got a ban for MO beta leaks several monthes ago. 

Inferno got ban for massive trolling on the MO forums. Now in this thread rlmccoy admit he was Inferno.

I don't need to convince anyone.  I always urge people to try the Open Beta and see for themselves. My beef is with the company.  I feel they have repeatedly mislead folks with what even a MO forum mod agreed was "shady" business practices.  When I asked for updates on my purchase I was ignored repeatedly... to this day I have never received any response from them.

 

Additionally I truely feel that releasing a game this incomplete and buggy is further lowering the bar for future games and this harms the mmo community as a whole.  I feel we need to stop accepting shovelware that will be "fixed later" and demand that games be complete and relatively bug free at release.  None of this.. Basic skills, basic magic, basic housing, basic blah blah.  It might be different if that info were splashed on their Features Page or in their trailers, but instead it is hidden in a post buried in the forms.  Again , to me, another example of misleading people.  Don't even get me started on the misleading "release dates".

FYI.. this isn't a large company vs indie issue.  Star Trek Online released in an unacceptably unfinished state in my eyes.  While that game was vastly more complete than MO, they also tried to pass off a lack of content at release... saying you could play multiple races but were launching with only limited content on one of them.  I loaded that game up and uninstalled it the next day.   This trend MUST be reversed.  If the issue is the $15 pricepoint then move the damn pricepoint to $20/mo or $25... but finish the damn products you are selling.  Take some pride in your work!

I never saw what Kio did (or joked about having done) and I hesitate to form an uninformed opinion.  If you could post (or private message) what was actually posted, I might have an opinion.  Until then, I will only say he may have been joking about it afterwards.

 

I've already said that slapshot8811 was wrong.  It was indicated that someone was impersonating you and inferno on other forums.  Inferno hasn't answered so I askedyou.

I never ordered STO.. Cryptic never took my money and tried to keep it while never responding to many requests for information from me. I also feel that SV repeatedly mislead me (and others) about many things.. including the release, the completeness of the game, the shiping of the box.  Heck even now they are telling people who ordered that their "free month" starts IMMEDIATELY and they can't wait to use it until the game is actually complete...

You say that STO was pushed out as an unfinished product.  Personally, I have no opinion on the quality of STO, since I have no first hand experience with it. 

In light of your opinion of STO, consider these facts.  Cryptic used the popular Star Trek IP to entice people to get 6 month and lifetime subscriptions to an unrelated Cryptic product which was only 2-3 months old. http://www.massively.com/2009/11/19/star-trek-online-open-beta-dates-announced/   They offered special in game advantages and an early start launch to encourage people to preorder http://www.massively.com/2009/12/07/star-trek-online-offers-advanced-retail-programs/  They offered in game advantages to encourage people buying lifetime subscriptions. http://www.massively.com/2010/01/14/breaking-sto-lifetime-subs-now-available/   The only thing that Starvault ever offered you to convince you to preorder mortal was the opportunity to get into the beta test.

Regarding the issues where you say Starvault "misled" you, they were telling you there expectations. Clearly they were wrong in those expectations, but that may be more inexperience and the complexity of what they were trying to do than any dishonesty on their part.

Cryptic studios has developed 3 MMOs (or 4 depending on how you count CoH/CoV). Their behavior does alot more to define industry standards/trends than anything Starvault does.  If your primary concern is the trend towards releasing unfinished games and expecting the players to just "suck it up", you should complain about it anywhere you see it not just  with Mortal Online.  I get the feeling that your current dislike for Mortal has alot to do with its initial appeal.  If there is even a glimmer of that appeal left, I would suggest putting MO on the back burner and concentrate on what you are enjoying these days.  If MO flops, it will do so with or without you cheering on its demise. If it follows the same trajectory as Darkfall, you can reconsider it in 6 months or a year when it is more finished and they offer a free month.

Another person on the Mortal Forums suggested making fake accounts "as a joke".  Another person was recently banned on his second account, he wasn't impersonating anyone, but was pretending to be a "brand new person on the forums". Feel free to PM me if you would like the proof and the resulting response from MMORPG.

Not sure why you'd get in trouble for noting that someone was banned on a second account.  It has been mentioned multiple times (and verified) that one poster here was banned from Mortal online and no warnings resulted to the best of my knowledge.  If, however, you would rather relay the info as a private message, please do so.   Unless of course it's about TheMap/Nasir64, in which case rlmccoy linked to your evidence about a week ago.  That and any confession that includes "/sarcasm" needs to be taken with a grain of salt.  Unless you can link to where he has posted as "TheMap" on these forums, I'd have to say he may have just picked a different user name here than on the Mortal forums.  The fact that he used the same avatar (as Nasir on this forum and as TheMap on the Mortal forums)  impies that he wasn't trying to disguise his identity.

I think mostly people are upset at the quality of the game.  I think a lot were a part of the community before it came to this point and wanted it to be good.  Yes, what they are doing is wrong, but their grief is understandable.

As I have said previously though... it really no longer matters.  5 days left in March and then it will be sink or swim time for MortalOnline.  It will have to live or die on it's own merits and not on the reviews/previews/comments of posters.  Monday should be an exciting day for MO once Henrick makes his announcement!

I knew excactly what to expect of MO, devs told us over and over  how many features will be ingame at launch ans what the plan was, sure there is some major bugs that can be anoying, but they will be fixed sooner or later.

Every information are located at the very place you buy the game, you don't have to go thrue 9 months worth of information.

 I don't understand.  My contention was that TheMap (on MO forums) is the same person as Nasir (on this forum) and had not posted on this forum as TheMap.  If he had not posted as TheMap on this forum, then nothing more sinister happened than having a different user name on 2 forums.   I could very well be wrong, but I do not recall any posts by TheMap here.   As far as disappearing, he made 8 posts yesterday on the mortal online forums.   http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/search.php?searchid=1068027

As for Nasir64 disappearing from this forum, you might want to review the post that rlmccoy used to connect the two.  http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/561/promisesmadegeneraldisc.png   It makes it pretty clear that Nasir64 was given a 3 day ban for accusing inferno/rlmccoy of impersonating other people.  Since he (Nasir) rarely posted here to begin with, I imagine he just hasn't bothered coming back after the ban expired.      

Of course I could be wrong.  The thing about this forum that bugs me the most (aside from this new editor) is that I can't figure out how to search for a user name and pull up the user profile unless I can find a post by that person first

Finally... since all of this seems to be happening on other sites, Massively in particular, perhaps you would be best served discussing it there?  The only people who have suggested/admitted to impersonating people on THIS site were other supporters or players in other guilds... and I believe most if not all have been banned so they aren't here anymore.

I would probably have no idea what Mortal Online is if it wasn't for all of the negative posts here about it.  I don't think it's always true, but often even bad publicity is good publicity, I'll probably try it now just because of the amount of reading I've done about it here on these forums.  If it weren't for the posts here, pretty sure I would have never tried it.
