I would probably have no idea what Mortal Online is if it wasn't for all of the negative posts here about it. I don't think it's always true, but often even bad publicity is good publicity, I'll probably try it now just because of the amount of reading I've done about it here on these forums. If it weren't for the posts here, pretty sure I would have never tried it.
I think the vast majority of people here would actually encourage you to try the game! You should absolutely take advantage of the free open beta to experience the game yourself instead of listening to strangers give their own opinions!
Anyone who would even slightly consider purchasing the game after launch should avail themselves of this opportunity. Just be careful when signing up and do NOT put your billing info in as it's not needed to start the free trial and if you put it in you will have bought the game and subscribed.

Let's see, Angarato posts that he and his guild love the game, but that there are too many bugs and desynch issues to release and expect people to pay a monthly fee. It seems that is also the position of the CEO of Starvault at the moment.
As to posting on other sites, any idea how I would post a thread on massively.com? Angarato got a temporary ban for accusing people on this forum for impersonating. http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/777990-post51.html and I expect it might be treated the same elsewhere if I just go posting behind people accusing them of impersonation.
To quote Neoxx : I should just post a new thread on the pub section of our website stating that [insert troll name here] is a fake and should be banned.
Is there any form of "proof" that would suffice for them to ban the other person?

I don't think that's Henrick's position.. but perhaps.. you never know and with my new skepticism about all statements from SV it could always be...

Wow... just wow...
Don't these guys have enough to worry about without trying to make up half-baked consiracy theories to explain why people dislike their "game"? I have never seen developers or fans so worried about what is being said on MMORPG.COM.. from Henrick's statement in IRC, to posts suggesting people make fake accounts to imitate posters here, to now basicly claiming that the entire website is under pay from Xsyson (or whatever) and they are the victim of a smear compaign organized by the moderation (unpaid) team here...
Actually my comment was referencing a thread (and a particular post) on the MO forums.
As far as these "documented cases" can you link the pertinent documentation regarding the conspiracy for me? I'm no fan of MO but I can assure you that I am not part of some grand conspiracy... though that does sound exciting. Maybe my recruitment letter got lost in the mail or something...

As to the documented cases, since you have posted in this thread multiple times, I'm sure you are well aware of the ones to which I am referring. As to motive or the presence of an actual conspiracy, I can not read minds and have not stumbled across any web site documenting the grand plan. I have documented the impersonations and postulated a motive (attacking the game). You have postulated a different motive (attacking the guild). Both are possible, but personally I find it more likely that the game is being attacked rather than the guild,as the posts are much more likely to influence people with a casual interest in the game than people with an interest in the guild (or the guild members themselves).
To humor your request (and inform any reader who may only be checking out the last couple posts of the thread) :
Each of the threads above contains people imitating Neoxx or Angarato of the Myrmidon guild, Angry Barrel of the Variance guild or posing as the entire Myrmidon. As you know, there was also someone posting on these fora as Angarata, but the moderators have deleted those posts. As to the motive behind those posts, I honestly don't know. Regardless of the motive they are an attack on the game (as either the primary target or as collateral damage).
As for rlmccoy repeatedly starting threads in which he quotes the developers, there is no argument. He has been very up front about the fact that he is attacking Starvault and Mortal Online. Your opinion and mine on the validity of those attacks will differ, but the motive has been stated outright.

So... there is no "documented cases" of a grand conspiracy... Unless the sum total of the grand conspiracy is someone who may or may not be from an enemy guild posting on massively as a supposed imposter. OK thanks for clearing that up. At best that proves that some guy has too much time on his hands. You know that a conspiracy involves an agreement between multiple people to carry out some nefarious plan, right? When you said there were documented cases I thought you had some actual proof of a conspriacy... you know like intecepted top-secret Emails between the prepitrators and the website moderators... As that is what my comments were responding to and what I called a half-baked conspiracy theory.

Yes.. and you took it out of context.. MY post was in the now locked thread where there was a discussion about a CONSPIRACY between this site and some members/publishers to badmouth Mortal. That is what I called a half baked conspiracy theory to which you responded: "It's not a half-baked conspiracy theory if there are documented cases of people doing so"
So I asked to see some of this documentation about the conspiracy... which apparently doesn't exist.

I doubt there's an actual conspiracy but there is definitely a lot of hate on these forums from a specific group of people (you know who you are) who constantly post negative oriented posts towards Mortal Online and more specificaly, the dev team. I understand that people have very passionate opinions on gaming and the associated games but to spend that much time hating on a game just seems odd. Of all the places to become obsessed with ruining a game's reputation, mmorpg.com isn't really the place. The sheer volume of options out there for you to play should dictate that if you don't like a game, you move on. Let other people decide for themselves if they like the game.
Personally, I won't be purchasing this game unless they can resolve their technical issues within the next month. Since they (starvault) are working directly with Epic in the states (which admittedly will resolve time zone issues involving communication between the two companies)...there are no more excuses that are acceptable. If they show me that when push comes to shove, they can eliminate a fundamental flaw they've had problems fixing...I might be persuaded to purchase the game. The core concepts are just what I'm looking for in an MMO and the determination of the devs (if you've followed it closely you're aware that there are times when they stay in the office until the middle of the night in sweden) is my reason for this.
For those of you who haven't tried the game, just try it. If you don't like it, don't play it. Give your opinion on here and then go do something else. Stay a well adjusted gamer and don't stray into the territory of trolling. Its just not worth it. Even if you're right and the game fails...it changes nothing. The people supporting it generally aren't supporting it because they have faith in the devs. They're supporting it because they support the game mechanics proposed by Starvault and their vision for the game. At the very least, this might show some other experienced dev team that there is a want for this type of game within a large enough demographic that it might be worth the investment. Even players whose first MMO was World of Warcraft could find a refreshing change in the game mechanics of a more 'hardcore sandboxxy' game. Some players who just haven't been exposed to it might end up loving it. Who knows?

There's no conspiracy. Sometimes discussing why a game is bad is just as fun and interesting as discussing why a game is great. Otherwise what is the point in discussion? Why not just say "all the people who like the game should just play it, and those who don't should just move on" and delete the discussion forum altogether? If the discussion for a particular game is heavily influenced by negative opinion then that, to me, says more about the standard of game itself than about the posters.
The reason the detractors post on MMORPG.com is because SV themselves and their fans have taken to heavily censoring criticism on the official forums, even if it's eloquently and logically thought out and presented. When somebody criticises World of Warcraft on their official forums, a blue poster will often take the time to address their concerns and explain why they think they're wrong even if the original complaint is stupid like "omg locks are nerfed i keep dying". SV just delete the thread and then moan about "trolls" and "noobs" on IRC to their fans. That to me suggests insecurity on SV's behalf if they have to cover up the negative feedback rather than deal with it head-on.
You can't say indie dev this or low money supply that forever. If this company says or does something that might help or upset people no amount of excuses will work. It is what it is.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
i think this site has alot of trolls in it, or at least the mortal online forums do.
seriously if you do not like a game, just make a review, write why you did not like its pre release beta and your views on it, from its pros to its cons and leave it at that, to hate the game more and bash it is not needed and is just very sad.

i do not see any facts? i just see biased comments with no backing? and how many comments have you made about this game?
could you not make up a review? its not like you even like this game?, im sure there are worse games then this and everyones experince is not the same? i think this game is wicked and the good outweighs the bad by far.
Answer - Because SV put up false videos a year ago that supposedly showed in game footage of the game. People pre-ordered on the basis of these videos and so they could access beta.
The game they got was nothing like what the original videos showed. Absolutely nothing like the videos at all. They were completely and utterly false.
That is why people have hate for this game, they feel burnt by the devs.
Also the team developing it is very unprofessional and hardly any progress has been made over the last year. The beta client now is basically the same as the one from a year ago, a few more features have been added but nothing like what is needed to release the game.
Myself on the other hand have had a lot of fun in the beta and will give the game a chance when it is finally released in September.
