I pre-ordered on blind faith and the my urge to root for the underdog. MO looks to have a lot of potential now, but ever now and again when I hop on to see how it's doing, it just doesn't hook me. I probably won't sub, but I don't regret the preorder. Sometimes when you bet on a horse he breaks his leg at the gate.
You do know that you can get a refund for the preorder right?
So in your analogy.. you are saying that people will buy tickets for Hereford that they have no intention of using just to give money to the team? If you like the team... I would think you would go to the games.... or at least plan to. In this case we have people buying the subscription (the tickets in your analogy) with no intention of ever using them... Then when the team is better in a few seasons... they would start going to the games? Hey... anythings possible I guess...as you say, people do support silly things and they can do whatever they like with their own money.
I think that it is somewhat common for people to buy a season ticket and not go to every match, not to even mention most of the matches. Also, you are using a hyberbole within your argument: the people quoted in this thread as having "blind support" are not saying that they will "never intend to use their account". Their metrics for the support vary from yours and you just have to live with it. A thread like this just tries to underline what the author considers unsound logics from his very own standards and by means of simple rhetorics tries to expand the argument to pinpoint the utter failure of the entire project and its supporters. And, in a good old fashion of circular reasoning tries to shadow the fact that there is nothing more on this issue than a matter of personal preferance.
Moreover, a number of people seem to also use an argument stating something along the lines: "If you do support Mortal Online it will mean that anyone can make money with nothing." I strongly courage all the respective authors of this argument to attempt it. Creating a website, as the argument goes, is relatively easy and maintaining one isn't all that more expensive either. Shouldn't everyone be creating one of these MMOG sites as we speak if it truely is that simple? And why aren't you guys creating them, for, I guess, noone will object literally free money. Or is it just that when you run out of reasonable arguments vis-a-vis to the games current status and development you just start to use reductio ad absurdum rhetorics which will always show that every human endeavour is insane.
I for one strongly do believe that the game is but a shell, it has enourmous issues and for certain is not ready for a launch. Yet, speaking from an artificial "problem" is nothing more than an attempt to shade that there has been actual progress, albeit a little. It shouldn't be in anyone's interest to just storm at forums that people shouldn't try a game that is completely free for anyone to try. Also, if these people that do try, do happen to have a differing opinion from the game than what you do, that either shouldn't be a just cause to point out that "there has been next to no progress in past nine months." It is, after all, inconsequential what the pace of progress has been if someone finds something that they like in the game's current status.

1. I didn't say "go to every match". I said," In this case we have people buying the subscription (the tickets in your analogy) with no intention of ever using them... ". There is a difference.
As for your next statement about "the people quoted in this thread as having "blind support" are not saying that they will "never intend to use their account". Actually... that is what the very first quoted person said. Please don't accuse me of making something up.
As for the rest...personally I believe that people can spend their money on whatever they like. Just like I can see a woman walking a poodle down the street dressed in a tuxedo with a diamond collar. I might think she's nuts and is wasting money... but it's her money to waste.
I do believe (and have repeatedly said so) it is damaging to community as a whole to continually lower the standards of what we accept from a game. Everytime a game launches in an unfinished, buggy state and we accept it.. we just encourage the next group to come along and release a game even less finished and more buggy. I strongly believe that we, as a group need to raise the bar of what we will accept and stop accepting shovelware that will be "fixed later".
Finally.. I think you have it wrong. I have done nothing but suggest that EVERY potential customer try the free-open beta. I think 30 minutes of playing (after the download/patching is attempted) will tell them more about the game than I ever can.

About 30 minutes will show them how the game is really like
True, but the 40% represents BOTH camps. When only 40% of the people on your own forums (filled with your best fans) are planning to buy/sub (and a smaller subset of that actually plan to PLAY as opposed to buy as a donation) to the game that is NOT a good sign for the future.
"In it's current state"
Many people ignore that.
Not ignoring it at all.. today is March 12th. They have said they are releasing by the end of March. They haven't told us differently. Unless you think they are lying and know they will be pushing back the game to Q2 but refuse to update us... THIS is going to be it's release state (well.. there's always the Miracle Patch #3 hope... but that's unlikely).
If you have some info you want to share with us where they have said they are NOT releasing by the end of March I will be happy to read it...
They won't release the game with the current lag issue. Thats why the official word hasn't been said.
Hmmm... nope.. hate to say it.. but I think I was right. The sure did announce that it was releasing by the end of March.. Just like I said. And it STILL has all the lag/desynch issues.

these people are blind supporters. its like a cult over on the MO boards. you say one thing they dont like and they all band together to skull fuck you.
one guy just wanted to know how he could get a refund because the game isnt what he was expecting. there were like 6 pages on this thread of nothing but people calling this dude names and trying to prove how ultra MO really is.
hopefully after launch SV will send out the special koolaid with the new boxed versions and all these retards will die

The reason i believe is sheer laziness. There is probably millions of active accounts in games that players are not actively playing, they just want the OPTION to be able to login ,if they feel the urge to play, they find it easier than setting up a subscription every time they want to play,so they just keep it open.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

But these people specifically said they will leave it open without playing. That doesn't sound like laziness.
What I find even more odd is why, someone who obviously doesnt like this game, dedicates so much of their personal time to bashing it? The older I get, the more I realize that my time is worth much more than money ever will be. I dont play MO, Ill most likely never download the game since it doesnt offer 3rd person view, so I have no reason to defend it. I just get sick of seeing the same people flaming a BETA product and bashing the people who hope the game is a success.
Ending your post with 'This is not a troll/hater post, I believe this is a legitimate question.' doesnt make it any less of a troll post.

The game is releasing in 2 weeks (this month) that "its still a beta" does not work. Starvault fixing all the lag, dupes, exploits, hacks, no content in 2 weeks? Sorry, won't happen

Darkfall fund it, or put up with wowlikeyness for another 5 years.
